They should make Betty say short commands like how Smite does it - "Enemy missing from the right!" or something like that is actually -SAID- with voice rather than some text on the screen.

Betty can easily be set up to say stuff like:

"Rally point - Echo 5"
"Defend - Foxtrot 1"
"Go for base capture"
"Defend the base"
"Advance offensive line"
"Retreat"

Or change it to Nav Point something. I'm sure the phrases can be improved when more thought is put into them. :)

This will give commanders better control of the group cause reading the text box? Ain't nobody got time for that. :(

So BCMC is rolling sinked drops, we get in the same map 50% of the time and half of that its against each other.

Either way its a hell of a lot of fun, we drop on caustic against each other, I tell the pugs who is over there what builds they are running and who the best two pilots are I then suggest a rally point.

Our 4 pugs suicide rush.

And that's why I rarely waste my time talking to pugs, its a waste of keystrokes.

Glorious 4 man group members don't bother to talk with PUB scum like you and I. We should be honored that they're even playing with us. Geeze, how entitled can you people be? 4 man groups grace you with their presence and you actually want them to communicate with you?! What a laugh!

I've always assumed it was because the 4-man "uber" players didn't know how to use the in game chat system :-p

In general if someone tries to cordinate in a pug half the group will listen, even if they don't know whats going on, what "E5" is, or where the tunnel is, etc, one will suicide, one will be afk and two will go exploring never never land picking flowers because they don't want to risk getting there mechs paint job mussed up.

this is a fairly good idea. have bb voice instructions based on what a commander puts in the battle map. also give the commander a seperate option to lock a target and have tat target communicated to the group with Betty's voice (perhaps something like, "Commander is targeting Echo").

i kinda like it.

more often then not its just herding cats or dancing with pigs. just a waste of time. sometimes puggers are great sometimes they dont do a combined 50 damage.

Simple answer: majority of PUGS I have seen refuse to listen/go their own way/follow you like a lost sheep having no idea what to do. 8 man groups cannot arrive sooner, so I can be rid of these utterly useless PUGS.

Another delay in 8v8 will prob cost PGI ALOT of players (real ones who actually spend $)

I know I used to try to give commands, but I would say that most of the time at least 2 of the pugs would just go there own way and do what they want. I almost always say dont crest the ridge, let them crest it and be the target.. guess what happens.. after a while of banging your head against the wall you just give up....

Why is it that 4 man groups almost never announce to the rest of their teammates that they are in a group and where they are going? Every round I'll ask what's the plan and only rarely will someone will speak up, I'll throw out some commands, some people will follow, then I'll notice half our team going the other way. I'll pester and then basically tell everyone to redirect with them since they're apparently too newbie to know how to chat. Then toward the end of the round we'll find out they were a group but were simply too lazy or stupid to say anything about it. For the amount of complaining on here and for how rare it is for a plan to be shared or communicated it seems like you're your own worst enemies. I'd even call out that you're simply bad players. At best the odd group might say in chat "SQUUAAAAKKKK", whatever that's supposed to mean (squad?).

Seriously, when I'm playing PUGboss, it's almost always the silent "we're doing our own thing and don't give a frak about the rest of you guys" pre-mades who are the ones not following the plan.

Ideally, they should be the ones leading, since they have the advantage of voice coms, so even a simple "we're a pre-made, so follow along please" and then calling priority targets would suffice.

HHoD units do this every game, surprised you haven't encountered us yet.

Getting a thicker crash helmet also works. =P

Though some people have already said that they'd rather not get a crash helmet while trying to have fun in the limited free time they have.

IMO, everyone should take it upon themselves to try and actively talk and respond, grouped or not. It's just logical. I've been attempting in several of my recent matches to coordinate the team, even just the bare minimum "What line to defend?" that takes literally 4 second to type. A team the works together even slightly is already making steps to have a successful match, small as those steps may be. The point is, merely attempting to communicate, means it might work. If you don't communicate at all, it's guaranteed not to work.

I play with two teams, one is Clanwolf.org the other is whoever inhabits the NGNG dropships when my clanmates arent online.
When dropping with the Wolves, our 4-man as a whole will often be commanded by a superior officer, if he says go left, we go left, regardless of the other team/a pug commanders plan.
If we dont hit the main battle line we will move up and flank them as they engage the other group, if we meet their mainforce, we often just hold their attention while the other team/PUGs cap.
My point is that just because the other premade is going the opposite way, it dont neccesarily mean they are doing "their own thing" entirely.
Now when i drop with NGNG dropships, its a bit more chaotic, sometimes we follow the PUG mass, sometimes we act smart and use tactics.
That being said, this game could use an ingame commrose kinda thing.

All I see in this thread is players stereotyping each other. This saddens me. I pug, sometimes I play with my mates, I always - at the start of EVERY game - suggest a plan. If I'm scouting, I'll announce the direction I plan to take. If I'm in my hunchie I suggest a route to take. All within the "game begins in" screen. Why is it so hard for either side? There's so much bitterness held between all of us due to a few bad eggs, these few bad eggs then becoming the generalisation of either party.

To those of you who are always on teamspeak: what if you were pugging, you only had 20 minutes to kill (so that's 1 or 2 rounds of mechwarrior) so there's no real point setting up a group? How would you like the others in premade groups to treat you?

To those who always pug: Say you were in a team with voice comms, how would you treat your team mates? And how would you treat the pugs?

We drop in, flash tags and tell our team mates that we are a premade.
Guess what? They don't care and still run off to the 4 corners of the map.
Last night, we were 7 and 0, and actively hunting the last mech about 4 minutes had passed? and the one puggy on our team is screaming that we're idiots for not doing what he said. 90 damage is what he did.

Guys like him ruin it for the rest.

Oh come on Franchi, don't lump all of us into this group.
yes I suck, yes I am still a newbie... but I wanna learn, and if someone would give even the most basic of commands, I'll follow it. Something like "we are a 4 man, and are going right"
I hate that most PUGs are not interested in a "plan", but for the rest of us, please don't consider one quick sentence a "waste of keystrokes"

I was trying to say the same thing here, but got locked

here's the thing we run into enough terribad puglings frequently enough that its a valid assessment of the puggling community. Want to communicate with people and play with ppl who dont afk, bot, suicide or play like **** jump on one of the MANY TS servers most of which don't even require unit membership you'll enjoy mwo A LOT more

Teamspeak is easy.

First you must download and install it. It's harmless and used by millions.

http://www.teamspeak3.com/

You'll need a headset:

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=usb+headset

Configure Teamspeak, which mostly involves picking a 'push to talk' key

Then go to this post:

http://mwomercs.com/...ost__p__1215853

Start Teamspeak. Copy/Paste a server name. Copy/Paste the corresponding server password.

Once in, double-click on a channel to enter it. Many go to the 'looking for group' channel and wait for an invite, or alternatively you can look and see if there are any 'dropships' that have less than 4 members in them. If you find such a 'dropship', enter it, but keep your silence for a moment - the group may be in a drop. If you don't hear much, ask if they need one more. They'll either say yes they do - or no, they had someone restarting their system. If they do need one, they'll let you know what to do next.

I'd be for this as long as it included a text message as well for players with hearing difficulties.
