I know it doesn't apply to everyone, and I have said it many times before (like a lot of people), but I wish they would fix the low fps.
My computer is not great, but it plays Diablo 3, and Skyrim just fine, even at high graphics... so I don't understand why I only get 10 - 20 fps on this game, even with the resolution and graphics turned all the way down.

Even the menu screen only gets about 22 fps, and nothing is moving on it! Something can't be correct in the code, right??

don't get me wrong, I love the game, but one day I would like to be able to play something other than a LRM boat ;)

What spec is your PC there could be some tweaks/workarounds you could try

The other thing you might want to consider, is how many cores your CPU has. When I first started to play this game, i was on a duo core processer, and my game lagged all the time. But when I upgraded to a quad core, I don't have any issues with lag anymore. So it might not be on PGI's end, but yours.

Exactly this. This game doesn't play with 32 bit dual core machines well, at all. It would be nice, but the crysis engine was pretty unforgiving when it first came out as well.

Try playing with XP compatability. It increased my fps by about 10.

Quad cores are pretty much mandatory for MWO.

Yeah I do have a duo core machine, and it is 32 bit. However I have 4 MB RAM and a Nvidia 520: 1gig video card. I thought for sure it could handle it.
I also have a CORE i5 machine, and it runs worse than my other computer. Granted it has a crappy video card though.

thanks Wolf, I'll try this tonight - I've tried everything else

I'm using a dual core 32bit i5 with 4MB RAM and an old unsupported video card (NVIDIA GeForce GT 240).
I get around 30-40fps most of the time. It was 40-50fps before the last patch ;)

My fps dropped also, it was 40-50ish before and has dropped maybe 10fps over all. Nothing on my system has changed since then.

So I'll try your compatibility mode ;)

Quad core. 12 gigs of RAM. 2 gigs worth of DX11 video brain.

20 FPS if I'm lucky. Needs to be fixed! No prob with any other game.

Don't let it get to you. I have a pretty much maxed out system and it still hangs and stutters on MWo. Usually I get decent FPS up in the 60+ range but some maps, some battles, it gets drops into the 20-30s and even gets the 4FPS bug once in a while.

Spoiler

Just wait for the optimization to go into effect and things should be a bit better. Although Crytek just put out the new requirements for this same engine on Crysis 3: http://mwomercs.com/...re-requirments/

This part confuses me as well. The mechlab should not be using as much memory as it is.

Play the multiplayer mods of Mechwarrior 4 than you get constant fps.
Piranha Games choosed the wrong game engine for a online MechWarrior game with its huge maps and effects. How much people want to buy a high end PC that needs a nuclear power plant to run proper?
Piranha Games should have used a older, sophisticated engine like Unreal 3, UT 3 or source.

Why would I do that? Why not enable DX11 instead of hobbling along on DX9???
Color me flabbergasted.

It took me about two hours of tweaking the user.cfg file and my video card settings to get 20 or so FPS....when all it would have taken is DX11. My card isn't geared to use obsolete DX9.

How hard can this be? Are there kids running the show backstage, or what?

Bring in some heavy artillery and fix the thing and fire the deadwood.

Not a rocket science.
