From dev comments on the forums and devblogs, I've come to understand that there will be some key differences in the way merc corps will be able to manage themselves as opposed to how house troops will function. Can you elaborate on this a bit? e.g. What sorts of tools will merc commanders have available? How will contracts work (single objection or signing on for a longer duration "campaign" with a house?) Will house troops have any ability to band together with online friends and function as units together, or are they just in a grab-bag?

Q17: Will we be able to pick what mech we start in, and/or will we be given an allotment of funds out of the door to choose a mech / customize / storage for repair bills?
Q18: Will repairs take time or be click repair button, pay bill, and you're good to go? If they're not instantaneous, will we start with more than one mech?

I keep seeing people mention repairing there mech, what happens when it gets shot out from under you? When are you going to explain the finances of the game both real money and c-bills?

1)Assume I'm building a computer primarily to play your game. Will I be wasting my money on a CPU with more than 4 cores? Help us out here, lots of speculation in the hardware threads, no definite answers.

How many weapons can we cram onto a mech? Will we be able to cram stuff on as long as there are no slots/ tonnage violations? From the mechlab It looks like we are sticking to MW3/ table top build rules instead of MW4 hardpoints. I like to use weapons arrays for varying situations so my average number of weapons per mech on past games was about 20.

Let's talk about the HUD and the cockpit. We see screenshots of the important info showing on a HUD, with the cockpit in the background often showing duplicate data.

Will there be a HUD only mode? I typically prefer to play as if my monitor is my viewscreen/windshield and I am the pilot, rather than have the monitor be a window through which I see a virtual cockpit that my avatar inhabits.


EDIT: My multi-screen question was essentially answered in todays tweet session, yes multi-screen support is in, but they are not yet ready to tell us how many screens or how they are implementing them.

are there any plans to attempt to include revamped "unseen" Mechs into MWO? or possibly redesigns of the project phoenix versions of those mechs?

is there any hope at all?

For Salvage amongst other things.. But mainly how can you pick up a 15 ton arm that got blown off your Awesome (or the 20 ton one you blew off an Atlas) without some BIG gear. Nothings bigger than a Mech..

In the IGN video previews and recent screenies we have seen a timer in the upper center of the HUD that starts running from what seems to be 20 minutes. Is the final game planned to feature battle timer that enforces draw when time runs out (akin to the timer found in World of Tanks)?

Dev's related to the unseen, I took a look at how to create weapons configs (by hardpoints) using variants from mechs we know are in the game so far.
What I found was, we players would actually be sacrificing a lot to build load outs that "match" those unseen mechs in the low and middle weight ranges, and really not gain much in the heavy and assault classes. I'm not sure how or if this helps, do you have anything to add, is this something you've already looked at and that is why your making the selections we've seen so far.

Questions on Maps:

1) How many maps do you hope to have finished by the start of open beta?
2) When can we expect new maps after launch? (based on there only being 1 or 2 at open beta time)
