I think i can see a less and less trial mechs when pugging.
This cannot be a good thing as new player introduction is via trial mechs, so is this something to worry about?

Is the player base in a phase of stagnation already, and if so what does that imply?

Changes to the new user flow are coming soon (announced as version .05, obviously an incomplete step but a step in the right direction) which will hopefully bring back some previously discouraged players and entice some new ones.

New user experience improvement version .05 is scheduled for Dec 18th

Perhaps I'm just lucky, but I've been seeing nothing but trial mechs all night.

You can tell the pilots are new, because they stand in front of you and are just kind of, off, in their piloting. I hope they enjoy the game though and the random issues arn't affecting them. Things like bad frames, bad ping etc. That and the excessive leading, bleh!

I see new pilots all the time. They are the ones who stop to aim, and do nothing when you light up their back.

Decline in new players? No. You can't get less than 0.

Not as many as there used to be for sure. But the game has been out for a couple months now, expecting a constant stream of new players like when open beta hit would be a bit optimistic.

I don't feel there was an increase to decline from, to be honest.

I haven't noticed a real decline. I have noticed an increase in new Light pilots though, as former new players have been purchasing their first Mechs.

Without numbers to work with we can only guess.

I saw trial mechs in all but one of my games yesterday, and usually multiples. Lots of 4J's rushing out to shoot only their lasers or firing LRMs on an enemy at point blank range. Plenty of Awesome 9Ms ignoring their super long range and charging. I'd say new player activity is doing pretty well.

i'm pretty sure whatever trickle they have right now is what they'll have until they do something big that warrants some press coverage. like CW or the official release. other than these big events, no one is going to write about MWO, which means in turn no large group of people will hear about it. facebook and google ads only go so far.

I don't even pay attention to whether it's a trial mech or not. All mechs have certain spots to shoot at. I shoot at them, trial or not.

Why do you think PGI removed the "players online" counter from the UI?

Certainly not 'cause they were getting record amounts of players online.

too many bugs and not enough content is always bad news for an MMO

you can get on EVE or WOT or Planetside or whatever and play for 6 hours and always see something new. only a ********* would play this game for 6 hours straight

looool @ mas0ch1st being filtered out. you guys are crazy

No, what's crazy is putting someone down for something they enjoy. People enjoy different things, it happens.

Only a tool would point out filtered words.
