The interweb tubes never cease to amaze me.

I miss the days when norms could barely start up a PC and left said interwebs alone.

Just fwiw, I've been editing MUDs since 1993 and online gaming since there was an internet.

I get that you're (dang word filter) ... rear injured. I'm not going to push on it, nor apologize for telling the truth. But at the end of the day remember - Beta is Beta. Just take a break. Come back six months after launch. Trust me, world of difference.

I should probably look for decent titles to download as I jacked my way into a neighbours wireless signal and don't want to use my own bandwidth....

Gotta get them while the getting's goooood!

anyone else got the score on this debate/argument. we need an update and i'm too much of a sniggering lurking pedo... or something to do it justice.

after 2 hours of this, im pretty sure everyone on this post is declaered a loser by some standard, and no one still here is a winner by any standard.
(my slef included.)
i mean sure, the popcorn is great as far as popcorn goes, and the laughs abound at the expense of all parties involved in this mess, but i could have saved up for a 315XL engine by now.

In vino veritas. Plus being able to afford my own internet.

While everyone probably understands the term "BETA" the average gamer doesn't care. They play it, they either like it or don't. If they don't like it, they usually don't come back. The game being in a state of "BETA" is irrelevant when anyone can play the game, like it and stay or not like it and leave. The point is to get people to play and then stay.

Well we found some common ground in agreeing you lost. ;)

In seriousness, take a break from the game. They're not going to iron this stuff out overnight. Its not unusual. Come back in 3-9 months.

I wanna reiterate I haven't done this in 7 years. Gawd, this and the Codejack convo last night was fun. Pretty sure it was in violation of some posting guideline, but fun. People shouldn't try to arbitrarily define terms or balance games in beta. Especially with no datamining. FFS, do some datamining before whining about anything!

Not sure if srs; In vino veritas is Latin for 'in wine there is truth' and basically means "drunk people tell it to you straight".

I have to spend all day at work maintaining an outstanding, team building personality. I just want to come home and be the geek that I've always been. Picking on weaker geeks. On the internets. Rafiki held me up at birth over Pride rock, and I instantly knew my destiny was to beat down lesser geeks. Darth Vader said it was the circle of life.

You obviously have zero understanding of marketing if you think it's reasonable for people to take off for 3-9 months and still have interest in a title. I've already proven to myself that I can't take off two months and come back to a better product.

They've already missed the boat in terms of Christmas Merch. I'm not sure who's manning the wheel.

Pretty sure they could have manifested some decent coin this holiday season with little plushy Atlas dolls with velcro break away limbs and Dual Gauss Cat plush just to take the ****.

I'm not even looking at the game from a customers point of view anymore, but from someone who doesn't reward bad/idiotic or lackluster business practices.

Ah, but that's the beauty of it. Regardless of label, they're dependent on generating revenue now. The more to take break now (from paying, that is), the lesser the chance to still have a game to return to...

If only I had a chance to properly play it... ;)

And what are you other accomplishments? Since you seem to have been there and done it all. And in such magnitude that us poor earthly mortals couldn't hope to compete with your vast and encyclopedic knowledge of how the internet, lvideo games and software development works/progresses.

Beta.

"You keep using that word, I don't think that word means what you think it means . . "

Taking a break isn't going to fix the game or make it anymore enjoyable. That's what the developers are suppose to do.

However, if you think that singing the "It's beta" song is the cure to end all ills you're sadly mistaken. As has been pointed out countless times, and you've chosen to bury your head in the sand and go "LALALALALAL BETA BETA BETA LALALALA", it doesn't matter what the company chooses to call the state of their game. What does matter is the perceptions of that target/market audience.

And that perception is, for the most part, that this game {REDACTED}.

He's just gonna come back and say "Beta" like a mongrel ego child.

Wasted breath.

A mind is like a parachute and only works when it's open. Clearly many are falling from the sky.
