I went to college with a five year old 2 button CH Flightstick many, many years ago. It didn't look like much compared to the brand new sidewinders the others were buying, but it was tough. Over the course of my dorm experience it was repeatedly dropped, sat upon, packed in boxes under textbooks and once thrown across the room. But it never failed to work perfectly. The gimbal connection offered very little resistance but was smooth as glass and would quickly snap to center if you let go of it. It was a very, very precise stick.
CH sticks don't look like much in a picture, but I wouldn't use anything else.

3.2 GhZ AMD 1100T 8 core (O.C. 3.8)
16GB Corsair 1600 RAM
ASUS Crosshair V Motherboard.
1.5 TB WD HD
2 x 500GB WD HD (was just laying around)
2 x 120GB SSD Corsair
1 x 60GB SSD (Was just laying around)
Windows 7 professional 64 bit
Antec 900 case
850 Watt Power supply
2 x 5770 Radeon 1GB GDDR 3 (in crossfire) [probably upgrade it depending on what the fps is in game]
I put the 2 x 500GB WD HD and the 60 GB SSD in just because I could but I run the OS off of one of the 500GB drives and games off of the 120GB (111GB Available) SSD.

I have always piloted mechs with a twist stick joystick (twist for torso twist) but i'm aware that many believe they can have more control with a combination of keyboard and mouse....I guess I will have to wait until i'm able to play to decide which is better
i have recently dusted off my FFB2 to get back in the saddle with MW4:M for the upcoming release of MWO. Still works great, even though its so old the rubber on the stick feels a bit tacky lol. But from what i have gathered on the forums stick support is not high on there list of things to do, well as of yet any ways. Do you think that support for the FFB2 is even viable? and how do i get the tacky texture off an old joystick handle?
Also, the level of immersion supplied by the FFB puts it on the top of the list of choice for me. One step closer to the cockpit.

Well see how it performs with MWO.
I don't like using the wasd for throttle and rudder. As the mouse will be better for percision aiming, I almost want to try a left hand joystick with mouse. Maybe try a Cyborg V1 for that and pass the X52 to a flight sim friend.

That's what I did once I realised I can't hit a mountain while aiming with joystick. The throttle slider is immensely better for controlling, well, throttle than keyboard, and as far as I can tell, you don't really need that many buttons to do things, in MW4 at least.

The 1100T is a 6-core not an 8-core...
Still, that's a pretty beefy system you've got there ^^
If you have the budget the next thing one would upgrade there would be the graphics card.

almost like they were competing against someone for a badass dual joystick controller with a large center panel....OH WAIT

Not really sure about what support it might get. MS doesn't support it at all. Maybe the game will have some kind of generic drivers for a broad range of sticks. I'm hoping so or I'll probably go mouse/throttle for MWO. I'm not sure about the tacky rubber you mentioned. Mine doesn't have any rubber on it at all except for the foot pads. Its all hard plastic.

Haha, that's what I'm worried about too! Which left friendly joystick are you using? And if you're using the throttle on it, what is your Y axis assigned to?
I pictured using the Y as throttle and X as rudder, leaving the mouse to handle aiming/torso. I know Hogarth mentioned holding the Y axis forward for 20min would be a pain, but as the rounds seem to be no more than 15min, it might not be a big issue. As I'm using a Logitech G700 mouse, adding a joystick to that should give more conveniently placed buttons than I'll need.
