Looks suprisingly good, actually.

But your gauss is tiny by Btech standards and still too small compaed to the weapon concepts:

I have to agree. I like it, but the 2 gauss make up HALF (well, almost) of the Mechs mass. Now certainly the barrel and magnets are extra dense, but even so, in something like the Gauss-A-Pult, they would dominate the chassis.

I have a question.

I love papercrafts and Jenners so I decided to make a Jenner papercraft. I found Jenner's 3D model when I followed your instructions. It looks different from the one in Heffay's instructions (see the picture). What have I done wrong? And of course I need to make Jenner's 3D model appear in Pepakura if I want to make that papercraft. Do you guys know how to do that? Thanks a lot in advance.

OK, 2 quick things. First, you're in perspective mode, which is fine but definitely changes how the mech looks for when you're working with it. To get to ortho mode, use num pad 5. That will also switch you between the modes as needed (although you'll be in ortho mode 99% of the time anyway).

The other thing is that it tends to bring in metric settings. You don't want specific units in these (or maybe you do, but I find it really screws up when I try to model).

To fix this, select the model, go to the Scene Settings, then go down to Units and select none.

Hope this helps!

Doubt you will be able to make a build'able paper craft of any of these meshes by means of a straight import in to pepakura. These mechs are high in detail, not really suited for paper craft.

Still if you manage to do so, please do post it for us.

Good luck.

@Allfex
Ok thanks for the help I now have the model. Now when I add the texture it is not looking right. I fliped the texture like it said in the first post put it is not lining up. Do I need to flip it a diffrent way with .obj? Thanks for all the help.

So I still prefer the "big fat" gun barrels, but still think yours looks cool, but would actually think ti a better DakkaPult, just toss an ejection port and a muzzle break on each barrel!

You prefer "big fat" gun barrels? than these should better fitt :)

By the MWO concept art, it should be a bit wider in diameter than the MLas that normally goes there, longer and with added stuff at the back. Furthermore, it's already perfectly to scale with MWO's gauss rifles, since it is MWO's gauss rifle (the only one seen so far, at least, the one from the AS7-K)
Posted Image
(Note: view above is orthographic to prevent perspective scale distortion)
Remember, the Catapult is one of the biggest 'Mechs in MWO so far, outsizing the other heavies and even being larger than the Awesome. The gauss is going to look a little small on it, but still to scale that it could be feasibly carried by a Raven as well. A lot of the gauss mechanisms are going to be inside the torso casing, not bolted onto the outside.

That said, I figure it could do with a little more presence, so I've pulled the housing further out of the torso and extended the barrel to be a little closer to the original concept art.

And, since I had the bits lying around already, I give you the modified RVN-4X "Gauss Raven"

The cannon is tiny, they said... it needs to be bigger, they said... :)

Alright, last one for a bit, this a Cicada for my friend Gammadin. Slight modification to fit the four MGs he runs with it. The colour scheme is based off traditional Zuni artwork.

I wonder why we see so little CryEngine 3 use - it's free for download and all the animations work right away?

For guys who want to try, don't know if this was written before, the standard textures are unvisible because there is no shader assigned.
So if you want to change that, open the material file of the mech and change the texture to "ilum".

Then in shader options on the lower end of the page, activate "gloss map in specular alpha" and "detail mapping".
For detail mapping go up to the detail map and click on "detail" and it will open some more options.
Enlarge the tiling to 30 and 30.

Here is some early stuff, I might do some concept art in future :)

I wish I was more familiar with is, as I'd use it a lot more. It would definitely save a lot of time and effort converting the assets to something Blender can use. I highly recommend writing a tutorial like this one to go over the basics, including the animation parts (I'm working on walk cycles, and it's... not fun). I'd love to do more with Cryengine!

Remember, be detailed and use lots of screenshots. Or, use a video capture tool (like fraps) and upload a tutorial to Youtube. :)

Well, what else would you use the bars/racks on the Cicada for? Gently nudging giant cattle? Storing cans of fuel for your fusion reactor?

A bicycle is the only sensible answer. :)

Never know when I might decide to learn how to ride a bike, but for real the 3C looks awesome Sparks.
