Premium will give an edge in certian areas, but a fully maxed out "normal" vechile will still outperform the premium in the end.
The premium vechiles usually just give a nice edge in one area, look cool, and give you a better credit/exp multiplyer, it's nothing game breaking in terms of play balance.

I fail to see where that is P2W as some people are suggesting.
Also the link provided to the Role Warfare article and it's mention of "Elite" is specifically talking about various XP levels NOT referencing one mech type as elite vs another.

One of these is pay to win because it limits the gameplay options of free players compaired to premium players. One of them will have me dropping all interest for the game and writing it off, as paying real money to expand flexibility to a degree beyond what free players can reach will mean that it can be optimized in a different way. When equal players face off it becomes the thinnest of advantages and mistakes that mark the winners and losers. When real money gives degrees of freedom and flexibility not reachable otherwise then real money becomes a thin advantage and sets those without at a thin disadvantage. Which is enough to win some games.
God, I know I can't make this sound nice as this is bloody sensitive to me. I want to play this game, I'm damn tempted by picking up the Elite package. But I need to know right now what direction this game is going with it's "Premium" mechs as I am not going to invest a dime into any game that will give me an advantage that free players can't get.
I'm glad to see that the people who are worried are looking for clarification instead of jumping to conclusions about how things will be. I hope everyone can keep a level head about all of this until we get some more info (Heck, you can't even TRY to buy anything for another month).
These mechs may come with a different base loadout instead of different hardpoints. They may be based on a variant that will come out in standard colors at a later point in time. They may be totally off-the-wall amazing, but we just don't know yet. In the meantime, I do like hearing what people are interested in seeing, and what people are strongly opposed to.
Personally, I'm hoping it's a variant that will be available via purchase with C-Bills (without the earning bonus of course). I'd really hate to miss out on a great variant for a mech I love because I didn't know I loved it at the time (I.E. before I had played the game

Awe, but I want different to be better LOL
There must be a perk or it would not be worth it, in general it's just something interesting to make you stand out a little bit.

Dear god, half the people in this thread can't even read correctly!
It's a FOUNDER'S BATTLEMECH, NOT ELITE.
You get it by purchasing the ELITE FOUNDER'S PACKAGE. You do not get a superior mech, you get a mech that looks different.
I don't know how you possibly went from Founder's Battlemech to a Battlemech with Elite-level experience already pre-loaded.

Not sure I see why it wouldn't be worth it, though I suppose it's just a matter of opinion... You get double everything else from the Vet. Pack, and the bonus mech has a C-BIll earning bonus on top.

really the only tanks on wow that are premuim but are just rite for teir eight are the kv-5 and type 59.
players just didnt know how to deal with them. front armer on kv 5 shoot the minie turrents. for type 59 aim for diver. anywhere on side armer. and all *** armer. the only oped armer on type 59 that really works is the front facing turrent armer and that can be pened by aiming for barrel.

That said even if it is a variant with different hard points from the stock mech, so bloody what? Take an Atlas with stock hard points and it will still destroy with a custom setup. Different hard points is NOT AN ADVANTAGE. It's a preference choice for playstyle, different, not better.
Why? Because no matter if I have 37,000 energy hard points, I am still restricted by Crit Space and Tonnage and Heat just like EVERY OTHER MECH.
Jeeze.

old or obsolete, yes now they will be great and who doesnt want them ?
but the advantages will not always be so great as they are right now .
that all said they need to make money , we want a quality
Game , and in the end Communism Hurts the people it claims to help.
so lets just wait and see, we know this is a fine line the DEVs are walking
trying to make a living and stoping the "pay to win" from taking over.

I'm waiting for more information, and I really want that information. Don't be confused though, I'm still prepping the pitchforks and torches while I wait.
Honestly, these mechs don't need to be different in game at all. Hell, I'd love to pay for that Pirate Atlas model in game. They could be sold as "Armor Customization Kits" that use different armor pieces for a different look.
Countless good F2P games have proven that they can thrive on skins and models alone in a competitive model. They have proven that people that join to play F2P have a good chance at buying a skin or model for their favorite character. Cosmetic items have a huge draw because it shows off and is cool.
Heck, I bought the PAX East Pack on SMNC to build my Geaser Support. And he is awesome in looks alone, I make him awesome on the battlefield. And I want this out of any F2P game that I play, I do not want to have the option of buying anything that is unique in gameplay terms with real money, I do not want to have the option of buying any degree of power exclusively with real money.

I myself would purchase the Elite Founder's Package just for the lifetime earning's potential it will have. However I don't know what mech to get as I like the Catapult and Jenner alike.
