So going into the nVidia control panel on the PC I own, with the video card I own, and maximizing contrast and adjusting saturation/vibrance is cheating?

Nope. You're doing an adjustment in uniform. Color gradation can be applied in a non-uniform manner, rendering some assets easier to see than others.

I like the right ones. Of course a warzone normally has more muted colors due to the dust and damage.

Brown & Bloom: The Oversaturation

We all know the reason why they do this. You would think they would also understand that people are moving away from the concept too.

I've said it before and ewww, no. Such full and exaggerated color doesn't fit this game.

I too am sick of the overly washed out colour scheme of just about every modern shooter.
Even a small tweak to the colour filtering / saturation levels would be nice - no need to go all the way to the levels on the right side of OP's image.

Best of all would be a slightly more colourful default, and settings to adjust to personal taste.

This is what I'm trying to say. It's too much cartoonish. They tweak the color saturation on this last patch, now it looks "awwwwww prettyyyyyy!", but less realistic.

you mean like the sun?

I'm talking about the colors, not the light. The sun light dont make the colors become oversatured that hurts in real life.

Yes, its more eye catching for the masses, but it doesnt look I'm in a war game scenario (dark weather, dust, toxic ambient). Now it looks I'm in Pokemon.

Dude, this is battletech. It's about garish mechs shooting each other.
Now it looks the part.

Even the cockpit buttons have color on them.

Actually the left. Land has a blasted wartorn feel, as if mud and dirt has been kicked up. The game itself has a classic grainy film style of look, which adds to the "war-film" atmosphere.

Adding rich color makes things look too cartoony, not everything has to be vibrant, and there are reasons for that.

Then please go and play modern warfare, and let us have our garishly painted mechs in peace.

all those guys who go like "a real war game needs washed out colors, because it's realistic that in a warzoen the color is washed out" - look at ArmA2, it's not cartoonish and it's not BROWN or YELLOW all over the place

Hawken has no color. It's more CoD than CoD itself.

ArmA 2 dont have cartoonish oversatured colors at all. I can say the color pallette is lifeless like MWO before last patch.
