The images on the right seem like they were run through a color balance filter on Photoshop that attempted to remove the color gradation, and give a sense of happiness, well-being, fun and other emotions that don't feel synonymous with mechanized warfare.
The feel of warfare isn't dependent on the landscape being drab - sometimes battles are fought in places of surpassing beauty. The retouched screenshots, particularly the Dragon starring in
The Sound of Music, look more like a real-world, sun-is-shining, images - they look more alive. That being said, there's nothing wrong with the colors we have now; but a somewhat brighter look would be better in some cases. Not every battle needs to be fought at the end of a summer drought (see first set of pictures.)
