I was under the impression that there will be whole worlds that we can battle for, earning territory for whatever House or Clan or Merc Unit we belong to, and that this 8 on 8 was just a precursor. Looks like I am wrong, but if I'm not... the single player campain could be a sweet tutorial for it.

I would enjoy a single player game, yes. But I would also enjoy a version in which I could battle AI mechs - essentially CoD's bot implementation, adjusting the difficulty settings and the like. I set up a quasi-online game and can battle some AI mechs. This way I could tweak my loadout and the like without having to totally hose a MP match. Plus, I can stomach constantly losing better when it's against computers...

I'm guessing that this would be slightly harder to develop than a MP game, but less cumbersome than a true single player campaign. The main issue would be programing the AI. I can't program a VCR (or a DVD player) so I ain't too sure either way. But it'd be fun, and it's something I'd pay for. I'm tired of all you dudes killing me!

Welcome onboard the forums (just saw this was your first post)

The thing about single player or co-op is:
Even if we have all those battles for worlds it would still be great to have PvE (Player vs Environment) game modes.
This way for example historic battles could be played against a scripted AI.

i would love to have a single player mechwarrior game but i'd rather have someone else do it. PGI's priorities are apparently much different than mine and i'm not sure i'd like the game they'd turn out

im saying no unless
it is a tutorial for noobs to physically get use to controls. meaning its one map only, shooting at dummies and landscape is some crappy grid.
explains how to use all weapons types eg. locking on and holding lock on.
explains heat, momentum, capping etc.

this is something i wish i had when i first started playing. instead of playing 50 clueless games and having to look up on forums; not everyone is as enduring as us.

my first ninja cap, resulted in me shooting the oil rig thing instead of standing in the red box. i was thinking to myself, im so bloody good and this noob is going to win the game for us.

A tutorial would be nice.
Just use one of the maps (e.g. forest colony)
and put 8 mechs on there.
The first onces near your base will just stand still,
while the latter once at the enemy base night have a super
simple AI just walking in circles and shooting back.
Or maybe a scripted route they walk over and over again.
This would be a nice training ground.

Id love one but I dont want PGI to do it with their current staff. As soon as they stop updating MWO regularly it will die. Thats how F2P goes.

i want to see MWO succeed, and i want to see it grow... i am against ANY distraction from that course, and honestly, a single player game would be more than that... i would love to see a new MW campaign game, but not at the cost of MWO...

plus, PGI already told us more than once, that they would like to do one, if they have the time and MWO is a success...so maybe later we will get surprised with the announcement of MW5...but i doubt and i hope it may not be so soon...

so No! to a MW SP game from PGI in the near future, make MWO the best possible MW experience, and i know that PGI can do it... and who knows what they can do with this game, maybe we can have some funny things in 2014...

Well,I'd like them to finish the Online version first.
When it'll run 60fps on each hardware (of course assuming low/high settings appropriate for particualr computer),with proper netcode without lagshield and rubberbanding, with ballistic weapons/ppcs firing without a delay, when jumpjet become useful even when having just one, with a convienient GUI then,AND ONLY THEN we could think about single player.

Ok if pgi makes a single player mode it should not be another game!
it should be directly ran off this one there base by these poll numbers will be 1/2
the existing group and it will increase
it will give the necessary cooldown time before you go back to solaris and have to dfa the next contender!!!

Kickstarting a singleplayer campaign once everything is properly polished and launched in terms of the current multiplayer game would simply be amazing. Use the already existing assets, levels, godly Flying Debris designs, Betty sounds, and so on, and the project shouldn't cost that much.

Imagine the different Kickstarter rewards for funding the singleplayer campaign.
  • The game in a big box like the days of old
  • A full-fledged manual like the days of old
  • Get Jeehun Hwang to come back and do the soundtrack for it
  • Flying Debris posters, T-shirts, whatever
  • A hardcover art book of Flying Debris' work
  • Iron Wind Metals incarnations of some of the MW:O mechs
All of the above along with a 15-20 mission singleplayer campaign would simply be amazing. Just think of the possibilities! Piranha Games would most certainly be able to get the proper funding by doing a Kickstarter if they handled it properly, while also saving costs by using the already existing assets.

Star Citizen amassed 5 million, Double Fine Adventure 2, Wasteland 2 also 2, Project Eternity 3 million, and so on, so I don't see how this wouldn't be able to achieve around the same level of funding.

I'd love to get another big single-player MechWarrior game...

...made by someone else, I can only imagine the horror if it were made by this crew.

I'd rather they go to a "gran turismo" style licensing system where you have to complete a set of training missions on a gunnery range to be able to buy each class mech.

Single player campain can be a totaly differant project seperate from this one. They have enough work that needs to be done with this project. Both projects can be worked on seperatly. With differant groups working on eatch. They can consider murging the two when the single player is ready. I would prefer the ones working on this project put all thier energy into just this project.
