I just tried it today after downloading the latest patch I quit after my first game because I could not hit crap. All of my weapons fire like 1 - 1 and a half seconds after I press fire....meh.

so its not just me, then.

Them not doing anything about the critically flawed ECM, instead trying to put in "fixes" via Cbill and GXP (MORE MONEY! NOM NOM) stuff.

Realizing that they are doggedly sticking to the new game mechanisc they have implemented, incapable of admitting mistakes and going back. In essence, their egoism.

Their failure to realize where the MAJOR portion of their customer base is coming from, and ignoring that.

Because it's primarily the same game I was playing 2 months ago. Sure, there are some new mechs but they haven't changed the course of battle that much. I really want some new maps. I need new strategies to figure out.

exhausted everything. we know the gameplay we know what's a hot loadout and what is completely broken etc etc, there's nothing really new going on and i'm pretty much back at work now so i'm just on a break for however long and when things have changed drastically we'll have a look again. pgi has more feedback than it will ever need from us, it's up to them what will happen.

game's burnt out, players burnt out... expect breaks to occour.

So OP are you also going to put up a post asking if anyone plays more and why? or are you just putting up a post so the same people can complain again? But wait you are not going to get the people playing more to answer cause most of them are ingame pew pewing instead of on the Forums complaining...
LOL.

1. Lagshield seems to have gotten worse lately (haven't tested most recent patch) meaning either server performance is degraded or people are learning to intentionally abuse netcode via downloading something while playing.

2. ECM is a hard counter for SSRM and LRM for any pilot who doesn't have noodles for brains, meaning you have to have SRM or not use missiles at all when ECM is present. While I'm not really a missile only kind of guy I do like to include them and anything but LRM5's or normal SRM seem like a waste of tonnage. On top of this, Artemis/NARC/Tag fall under the same problem.

3. The two above combined make even SRM useless, essentially you have to get lucky just to use missiles in this situation. SRM have to contend with lag shield, SSRM can't lock due to ECM, and LRM can't lock outside ECM range and can't do damage inside ECM range. If the target isn't a moron, he approaches from cover invalidating TAG or LRM deadfiring.

So, ballistics and SRM can't hit lagshield mechs with any degree of reliability, making them only useful against stupid light players or slower med/heavy/assault, missiles when facing lagshield + ECM are also useless against lights, leaving you only lasers as a reliable counter. To ensure effectiveness, you have to boat lasers or hope your enemy makes a mistake or netcode just happens to be on your side.

These are the reasons I'm playing less lately. Other minor reasons are MG/Flamers still not being fixed up, jumpjets being weak, no repair/rearm.

To those that find themselves playing less and less? Why do you think you are playing less then say a month or more ago?

rather write fluff than get frustrated by things in the current game that bug me. it is my sense that any testing has gone in the environment, the play to win crowd has about killed the option. lack of maps, let alone any with real size seems to contribute to a malaise at seeing the same thing and knowing the same plans will be required. they still don't have a testing/training drop, do they; this one still makes me a bit nuts (i think i asked why there wasn't something like that on my third day playing... if not before). finally, finding that i am not likely to progress further with the time i have available while trying to play w/ m/kb (as opposed to stick) has been really getting on my nerves...

rather than turn into a pita, figured some space might help me deal with it all better. does that answer your question?

probably will play some this weekend, but really just for the xp boost.

Really I play less than before, because I want to buy a hero assault mech that I like. I know the EMC kills the long range game etc. I just slap on some lasers, SRMs, ACs and keep on testing. I just want to play Mechwarrior in a mech I love that has a C-Bill bonus.

Solution: Release the Highlander battlemech with a hero variant.

This Feedback is good. A lot of what I hear is the following:
  • ECM
  • Netcode
  • Streaks
  • Lack of content
  • No Community Warfare
  • matchmaking
  • Family Life
  • School
Then my next question, "Why do people keep playing after a month or so?" What's the draw?

LOL Your answer was already there.....

Actually, I'm see what keeps people away and going into this game. I help with a House unit and we are looking at a short term inter-house community warfare. There will always be trolls but most of the people who responded to me here have had a mild tone to their words. Mostly, people sound disappointed...

Australian latency (240+) affecting
- Ability to combat lights
- Ballistics pretty hard to use against anything over a certain speed
- Lasers require absurd leading

Maps are too small, imo they need to be at least 4 times larger
Map terrain is extremely unvaried. Mostly flat, easily traversable terrain. Some maps should be easy to navigate, others a total *****.

Jump jets seem to offer very little advantage.

ECM spam
- Mixed with it being mostly on lights makes life impossible
- Obsoleted scouting (something I enjoyed doing)
- Obsoleted many variants
- Obsoleted AMS almost completely

That's pretty much it. Hoping the devs start taking criticism more seriously. People only complain because they love the game and want it to succeed.

bored with the same maps over and over, there's not much real difference between many of the mechs we have, don't feel interested in the new mechs like the spider, matches are becoming more and more predictable with ECM and the narrow range of load outs that actually work, and tired of getting a 7 vs 8 every 4th match

honestly, and maybe this was just wishful thinking on my part, i thought we'd have more maps by now, more game play options (they were advertizing drop ship matches before closed beta even started), some actual NPC stuff to interact with, whether it be turrets or tanks or whatever (also promised in some form), and more mechs.

instead the only thing being released faster than i thought it would be is hero mechs. everything else is releasing much slower. and i'm just not really excited about the devs' attitude towards the player base either. if i hadn't sunk money into a founders pack already i doubt i would bother logging on anymore. This game isn't really working, we all know it, but some of us don't want to admit it yet.

hopefully PGI can turn things around but as long as they're prioritizing hero mechs over maps, or can't be bothered to fix the heat values on PPCs (something that would take 5 min) then i will continue to have a bad feeling about how the game is going and will continue to choose to spend my time elsewhere

Lack of new content, overall extremely slow content development (creators of Minecraft put out more), no clear window as to when clan mechs will be released, MC+content far to expensive, no in game voice chat, game modes are lackluster (assault matches are far to short, conquest is just stupid), map "variants" are stupid and unnecessary.

Personally the game has lost a certain amount of fun for me and the last few patches have been all but worthless in my opinion. Communication from the devs fell off till this week. I know it was the holidays but nothing for almost a month considering the issues with the game.

I still like the game but find myself taking longer breaks from it. Currently it has been 3 weeks since I last really played.my list of things I would like fixed are:

Netcode (I know it is being worked on) Can't come soon enough
Full screen mechlab (also being worked on)
Phase 3 matchmaking (supposed to be soon but we will see)

I can't defend the game and won't try to get friends to play like I did in earlier iterations. The way it is now is just not a good thing if you want them to stay.

But I can have patience and wait a few months and see where it goes. The game has great potential I just don't want to see it squandered.

- ECM.. kind of. The game changed from "Missle Command" to "Playing hide and seek in the dark". There has to be some middle ground in between.

- Maps. They are far too small, far too easy to navigate. 8vs8 is not enough. You could get far more intense battles with 20+ players on each side. And "the developlers dont have the time to make new maps" doesnt cut it. Get the comunity involved. People are making awesome maps for every game that allows it (and even for some games that dont).

- Netcode.. well.. we all know. And now the spider seems to warp around for me. Not only the mech itself.. it screws up everybody else in a 150m radius for me. Kind of like a "ecm lagshield".

- Game modes. Goes hand in hand with "maps" i guess. The game feels so incredibly stale to me. The capture points are a good idea on paper, but the implementation in the current maps is half hearted at best. Those maps where designed to make people fight it out in the middle, maybe have a few sneaky flanking maneuvers. And thats how they are played as well. The capture points are largely ignored after the first on each side.

- Bugs. For every one thats fixed there seems to be 2 that come up. While my framerate has gone up (i have a pretty good system so i never had problems to begin with.. soon i may have to find a way to limit the framerate somehow), i have had crashes to desktop for the first time after the last patch. I also have sound bugging out sometime and several other things.

I still try out the patches and play a few matches from time to time, but the last time that i actually sat down and played MWO for hours is at least 2 months ago.

Rubberbanding from the latest patch makes the game unplayable.

New content slowed to just once/twice a month really is abit too slow to keep interest high.

New content arrives at last in the form of a useless light mech... one month wasted.

I have only played one or two matches every day for the last three weeks. Way down from what it was before.

Reason short answer: ECM and Streaks.

Reason long answer:
I am a Commando pilot, a scout specialist.
I worked really hard on my piloting skills to become good at all the roles I could play in a Commando. And I liked it.

Then came the streak buffs and the removed collisions. And no, streak cats don't bother me. With some skill I can evade them.
But in order to compete with other lights I had to stack streaks as well. This was fine for a while. After all I could still play all my roles.
But more and more it felt like bugusing. And I had three totally different Commando builds which I enjoyed all. Now I am reduced to one.

Then came ECM.
And in order to survive against other lights I had to stack up on my bugusing by also equipping ECM in addition to my streaks.
And I started to hate my mech. Not a good sign.
Further, several roles of the Commando became obsolete because of ECM.
Using my other Commando builds became outright suicide.

During the last two weeks I only played one evening of premades where I used my ECM-streak. After all I was needed and didn't want to be a liability to my team.
The rest were always PUG matches where I tried to find a way to beat ECM-streak lights while NOT using my own ECM-streak build.
The results were so devastatingly depressing that I have mostly stopped playing MWO now.

To those that find themselves playing less and less? Why do you think you are playing less then say a month or more ago?

My reason ?

Playing almost a dozen games in a row over a week period and having every single battle be nothing but assaults and lights with the occasional catapult. Mechwarrior should reflect all weight classes in a battle. Not just the toughest and fastest. People say ECM is the problem and perhaps they are correct because 95% of the mechs I see are Raven CLs, COM2Ds and Atlas DD-Cs. My personal opinion is that there are more mech in this game than just those three. There are also more than just Lights and Assaults. When/If this game reflects that, I will certainly play more.

My other issue is Streak SRMs. Lights with them will almost every time massacre lights without them. Which besides ECM, is another reason I feel we see less of the variants that don't possess the hardpoints to fit them. Another fix I will like to see before I devote more time into this game.

I've never been a fan of the fix this or I quit attitude. I'm here strictly for fun. I'm not having fun. These are the things I think that would bring the fun back into the game for me.

Streaks being a bandaid to fix netcode/hitbox issues, ECM being a bandaid to fix streaks/LRMS(for pugs), TAG being a bandaid to fix ECM... It's getting too Rock-Paper-Scissors.
