As for standing still for 45 seconds: I was guarding the base(at the very beginning of the match), turning back and forth scanning for targets and suddenly I was kicked to desktop and when I got back to the game I'm SURROUNDED on all sides by Assault mechs. There is no way those mechs could have moved that fast unless something was seriously wrong. Netcode, server problem whatever.

Maybe I'm just behind the times, but... is this new? How do you rejoin a game in progress after being kicked?

A theory, though: if you were losing connection you were possibly standing there for some period of time not seeing the enemies approaching because you weren't getting info from the server.

Ahh beta, the argument used by idiots.

Fine choice sir!

Truth is the truth. The real idiots are the people who can't read the word right under the title. So before you call people idiots, perhaps you should take a look at yourself and your apparent lack of reading comprehension.

Beta is just an empty word. The game is released, they are accepting cash. There will be no more resets. All testing is done on internal testing servers. What exactly are we testing? Players tolerance of matchmaker ********?

come back in 6-8 months, let us do the dirtywork so you don't have to,

boot up MWLL for the time being.

Sadly we aren't doing any dirty work at all. Seems like just about every player has let the devs know exactly what is broken by now. Their response is to give us the spider and a hero commando. Don't fool yourself, this isn't a beta and we are not testing anything, this is the actual game release regardless of what beta sign they slap on it.

It is hard to say what it really is. Tempting to say "marketing" but that does not make sense at all. Worst marketing ever. Maybe funding to keep the wheels turning?

The only beta thingy I can think of is stress testing, like we had over the double xp weekend.

Awww its so cute when people cant see reality.

Are they asking people for money? Yep
Is the game open to the public? Yep
Are they going to be resetting anything? Nope
Are they advertising the game around the net? Yep
Do they test thing internally before a release so we dont test things? Yep

So kiddo, what exactly would change between "beta" and "release" for this game? I guarantee you their "release" form would still be adding lots of things, because this is a free to play MMO, and such games rely on them churning out new items and toys for people to buy and play with to keep their interest.

So yeah, I will stick with calling you an ***** for not seeing what is right in front of your face.

No XP is a lie. You get XP even if you lose.

Really? Think Trial mech first before you call him a liar.

Edit: it appears trials now get xp. S!

You should just quit cause the game isn't going to change drastically. What you see is what you get. CW will probably just be crappy UI menus and fluff. That and I don't think PGI deserves an ounce of praise other than proving that people want BT/MW games. Just not half baked ones made by an underfunded and understaffed dev studio with no experience in making MMOs or even AAA games that is being overlorded by a publishing company that doesn't have a clue.

Did you forget to mention game designers who are too full of themselves or opinionated to notice that they are wrong? ;)

guys, i think when he says no exp he means little....
for those of you who think match making takes team tons into account, you are mistaken. i believe it is only class, so a team with 3 awesome can be pitt up against 3 atlas.

to the op, i dont know what kind of ping you get in Texas but it cant be worse then Australia. the game feels like its in very early development. there are bugs on top of bugs and if its that bad just stop for now.

i will say this, when i first started playing i failed miserably. after the trail mech phase when i bought my first mech, i was still getting poop on. after many games, upgrades and new weapons etc, guess what?.... still getting poop on. only by the time i bought my second mech i finally had some money to mess around with builds did i figure out my play style and how to utilize the way i play. as you upgrade and spend your exp, thing will only get easier.

they really need to set up a leveling system so new players get grouped together so more experienced pilots with full upgrades dont poop all over you.

Trial mechs have been earning XP since the second to last update.

I wonder if OP realizes XP is varient specific instead of just size and model specific.

NEW REWARD SYSTEM

The reward system has gone under a serious revamp. We are removing the Repair and Rearm costs from the game and rebalancing how many C-Bills you will be earning. We are also reducing the amount of C-Bills you earn by default for a win/loss/tie. Non-participation in matches will result in very low C-Bill income. That being said, your participation in matches and playing as a team will now payout at a higher rate.

Below is a detailed summary of the changes to the reward system:

* All mechs will be fully repaired and rearmed after every match at no cost.
* Trial mechs get the same rewards as normal mechs (even mech XP)
* New Bonus called Cadet Bonus: this bonus is rewarded to new users for 25 games. The math is calculated by: log10(gamesremaining) * 300,000 CBills

* This means you will receive 424,492 C-Bills after your first match, decreasing each game until you've played 25.
* After 25 matches you will have received a total of 7,981,686 additional C-Bills.
* If you have already played more than 25 matches, you will be given those 7,981,686 C-Bills as a lump sum (Happy Holidays!) If you've played under it, you'll be given the amount equal to the games you've played.

* Removed Capture Win/Assist CBills Bonus
* Spotting Assists will now only be given if spotted target takes damage from allies

You do realize nuclear reactors are 100% silent right, like not even a hum. Note how they are used extensivly in submarines that are able to run 100% silent at slow speeds to avoid detection.

Imho they have simply a way superior sound-damping.
In the end the nuclear reactor heats the water for a modern day steam engine.

Which makes me aware that i have no clue how the Reactors of Mechs produce usable energy...

Since one of the recent patches you get GXP (General XP) but no MechXP for piloting Trials afaik.

UPDATE:
Since the lag is gone and the launcher starts up i tested it.
You get complete XP -> General XP + Mech XP

Perhaps some of you simply need a break from the game? If it is so clearly frustrating and upsetting to you as to the little apparent progress that they are making, why not just walk away for a month or more and see where it's at then? If it folds, then hey, you're at no loss since you don't care anyways. But if it doesn't and improvements have been made, you come back happier and actually willing to play.

What I'm driving at here is I'm not quite understanding the reasoning behind sticking around with something that you're disgusted with.

There are a number of folks out there who actually do enjoy the game on a regular basis. As someone noted earlier, of course it's not perfect nor is it complete, and I'm sure there are things that PGI and to an extent IGP, could be doing better. But constantly trashing and belittling someone or something because you're unable to detach yourself from it serves no purpose from a feedback perspective.

For every issue and bug that is frustrating for us, as players, I PROMISE you, it is 100% more frustrating as a developer because not everything is black and white. It's unfortunate that so many here just do not understand that, but that is the simple truth of the matter.

Good call. You don't seem like beta tester material.. even 'open' beta such as we have. Everything you (lets be honest) cried about is either a known issue that is being addressed, hyperbole, or doesn't mesh with the experience of most players (match maker issues is news to me, I haven't personally seen it)

If you do want to continue on... well first thing i suggest is not jumping straight into the biggest mech in game and getting sad because you are NOT in fact invincible. Find a playstyle that suits you better.

oh that sucks.. I ground up my cent 9d from zero to most of the way through elite on trial mech xp while I was saving up the cash to buy it.

The Game currently has a lot of faults among which some of the worst offenders are

- lack of content : Only 2 modes, one being a slightly retooled version of the other (Conquest), 4 maps with some "versioning" like Night time or Snowing, and a dozen types of Mechs available including some versions only available for Ca$h, no Community Warfare which should be the Main mode of the game, no 1 V 1 mode, No arena FFA
- Bugs galore: Broken Netcode serving as Lagshield for fast Mechs, CTDs, alllows synch drops to make a broken Matchmaking even worse, memory leaks that give you the 4fps bug after 8-10 matches, Mechlab windowed instead of full screen, etc.
- Unimplemented features: No Collision (used to further strengthen Light Mechs), No Lobby, No real Matchmaking features, no VOIP in spite of being " Team based"
- Bad balancing: Using Heat and Hard Points to balance mechs, leading to boating of weapons and making some builds "Fotm" like SRM Cats or ECM Ravens, ECM badly implemented leading to either cancelling entire builds (like LRM based Mechs - hello Catapults) or making ECM lights even further unbalanced. At the moment, rewards are so fubar that its more worthwile to ignore the main objective of a game mode to just go and tear each other appart. In essence, it is better to lose and have killed, than to win and have not.

And yet, in spite of all that, I find the game to really nail one thing: The feeling of piloting a 20 tons+ giant Mech.

with the hope it will get better, I am for the moment sticking with it and although I have vowed not to spend 1 cent until most of these faults are seriously fixed, I still have hope that one day it will be a decent Mechwarrior game.

To the OP - "it gets better".

When I first jumped into the fray, there was tons of pug stomping, then the whole LRM thing where missiles rained down onto your head. On top of that there was no nice cadet bonus or short-tracking to get a your first mech, I did about 300 matches just with trial mechs. The experience was completely abyssal and I was completely frustrated. As soon as I got my first 3 mechs (because at that time I thought you need 3 at once to be able to level them) things got better.

Right now actually the game is in a more decent state, still not where we want to be, but it has progressed. In MW4 you had to lead your targets and you have to do so here as well. The netcode is currently being redone as well as the match making. ECM certainly can be an issue for people who need the visual cue of a red target indicator, especially for new players. Best advice is to search an active merc corps and learn the ropes together with others.

In general the communication of what exactly is going on in development resembles a roller-coaster. Sometimes we get decent info and updates, sometimes its all buttoned up and the community gets a white elephant style update.
