YEAH Im totally the only person in the whole game that has the issue of lagshield...
Especially those guys on your side who say "learn to lagshoot" - at the same time admitting theres a problem

There will always be issues like "lagshield", hitboxes, and/or ECM to blame.

Just concede you won't be happy so long as any mech with less tonnage can beat you. At least that would be a little more honest.

If I'm wrong, then please, correct me. Paint me a scenario where a light could/should best you in combat - assuming all your concerns are addressed.

I play my ECM Raven because they are discustingly OP. it is my way of voicing my dissent.

If everione would just drive them maybe PGI would do something to fix them.

Then correct me.
  • You don't want it to be any more challenging to direct-fire a light mech than a heavier mech (aka "lagshield").
  • You don't want ECM to impact SSRM/LRMs.
  • I'm not certain of your stance on hitboxes, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume they're smaller on lights than you'd like.
So again, give an example where you think it would be totally fair and reasonable for someone in a light mech to defeat you.

I'm going to guess it's either when you're a) afk, or B) being focus-fired by 7 other mechs.

I only have 1 light, my scout comando (the one with ecm) I never use extra light engines because I dislike lowering my survivability (im not a very good pilot) and so while I may have an ECM shield I don't go faster than 94-ish kph+I'm a bad pilot+i spend most of my time tagging targets from as far away as i can if you can't manage to hit my itty bitty drunkenly moving comando thats *your* fault not mine.

ok you failed at this troll attempt first off because if the ONLY defense lights have against heavier mechs is lag theres a bit of an issue there.
I WANT it to BE a challenge TO kill heavier mjechs in a light. Not just run up and circle strafe cause you know they can never hurt you back unless they shoot 3 or 4 mech lengths ahead of you.

but yeah thats as far as Im willing to justify you troll.

Piloting my Jenner became less fun when they removed knockdowns, then became gimped when they "fixed" jump jets, and now is just cannon fodder vs. ECM streak-lights.

I'm hoping that when they fix netcode or put knockdowns back in that it will be viable again, but for now I'm mainly playing Catapults because Ravens are just too broken.

I don't think lights are overpowered at all outside of some lagshieldy net-code issues, and the overwhelming advantage that SSRMs bestow. SSRM lights are a PLAGUE upon Mwo at present and ruin maybe 20-50% of the games I play.

I know what makes games more or less balanced. Did you know that Armored core was a complete no-holds-barred customizing game? In having such, the min/max crowd figured out the best builds, and the game became stale and full of light mechs (latency + speed just being better in general compared to being a slug with armor), where the tradeoffs and advantages of specific parts weren't appropriate to support all of the mechs. Chromehounds had a more "roletype" styling that MWO is trying to accomplish, yet it ended up being FoTM mechs from go-karts to chicken leg howitzer wars. Again, the improper restrictions and balances of the game (especially the pay to win nature of buying special weapons for XBL points) lead to a quick demise, ending in the shutting down of the "internet warfare persistent state" server, making it unplayable online.

See,this isn't an unreasonable point.

Why don't you go tell a vet "LOL, Im sure that the things in warfare are totally relevant to our war, and that the lessons you learned can carry over /sarc". I'd like to see you end up on the news.

This, however is deranged nonsense. Congratulations on undermining whatever point you were making by comparing your experience in videogame robits to the experiences soldiers have had in actual wars. Good grief.

I'm not attempting to troll. I'm attempting a legitimate discussion.

What ping should PGI set as their baseline? 120ms? 200ms? 300ms? Higher?

Is having to lead your target - even by three to four mech lengths ahead - really too much to ask?

Are you denying most heavier mechs can take out a light in two to three (successful) alphas?

If you never had to compensate for speed differential when firing upon another mech, then what would you propose the purpose of forgoing armor/firepower for the sake of piloting a light should be?

What alternative defense should lights have, if any?

In my case anything under 150 lag shields the most. So restrict everyone to over 120ms I guess. :)

I pilot my raven because I enjoy it. I've piloted it since it came out as my main mech, back before ECM and I'll continue to pilot it while ECM is out. I don't care how powerful people think the mech is, good or bad, I'll keep on piloting it.
