Bottom line. To play the game, you don't have to pay ANYTHING. You can play as much as you like, for free, forever.

lol forever is a bit much. I have seen way too many games pull P2W for like two weeks before the player backlash gets them to change said item ect.

The hero mechs are already close to pay to win and could become much worse if they aren't careful.

Edit: before my post gets taken the wrong way. The hero mechs arent any stronger then a mech of a different chassis but for instance the cataphract hero mech is far superior to the others and this would be even more so if they end up adding say a hero awesome.

Feel free to dismiss all criticism as whining and trolling, it sure worked great for the ToR devs, or for Diablo 3, didn't it?

See the thing is, they KNOW they have a decent amount of us by the short hairs. What are we going to do? Go back to playing MW4? Of course not, and they know that. I remember early in OB (or maybe even late CB) when a poster made a rant about how bad the state of the game was. Someone from PGI (I honestly don't remember which one) made a nasty post and displayed the OP's stats and made a snarky comment about 'you sure do play alot for someone that doesn't like the game'. And yes I know I don't have the quote right - but that was the jist of it. Sounds familiar in concept to what was brought up here doesn't it?

As great as constructive criticism is, it doesn't change the fact that in an online community NO one is 100% satisfied, and said "individuals" mentioned in my post supply it or feed off that. So far nothing anyone has done has changed this fact.

Am I condemning constructive criticism? Heck no, I'm an avid supporter of it and I'm in firm belief more of it is sorely needed. But despite that, it still does not change that those individuals exist and continue to do their voodoo, that they do, oh so well.

Is that seriously what you got from that sentence?

Inference, man. Guy with 1000 posts says something on the forums in the heat of anger - happens all the time, guy cools down, we talk, he says sorry I was pissed or whatever, we move on.
Guy with zero posts goes to the forum, goes to suggestions, and says "I find 'x' really hard to deal with." Does it mean we CARE MORE about this guy? No. It's the fact he made his one and only comment, ever, and it's struggling with something. This means a 100% 'argh, I can't 'y'!" of his posts.

The idea we don't care about you guys is ludicrous - I send massive emails WEEKLY to design and engineering FULL of all of your suggestions. Hell, Thomas was sitting in the forums PMing a guy who was getting a bug, and then figured out how to fix it. If we didn't care, why would he even bother?

Fair enough, I'll chalk it up to a communications breakdown on my own end, but you have to understand why some of us feel that way in regards to that comment, especially.

And, again, not that it matters in the grand scheme of things, but even some of us "Golds" that try and be constructive and such are, well, getting a bit exasperated. I'm sorry, but it's true.

If you care about us so much, then why does Reddit get info on why the changes to heavy energy weapons has been delayed past "early to mid January" yet the command chair post hasn't been updated since December, even though Paul stated that he'd keep us updated?

And this I 100% agree with. It seems the MWO forums are "the last to know" about upcoming stuff; basically, someone links a reddit post here and that is how we find out. I'm overjoyed you guys are reaching out to the web communities (Bryan even did a quick Q&A for the FWLM collected units.) Just... making the recommendation that anything discussed elsewhere be placed here, if not first, at least very, very shortly after it is discussed "there."

And you'll note (again, if you care to) that I have pretty much stated that I can't exactly blame PGI staff for not wanting to come here given the... tone of some posters.

I can only hope I'm "not that guy."

I don't know, man, some of Niko Snow's smackdowns may have been unprofessional, but they were high-larious. I kind of miss them.

From Ask a Dev 30: I can’t tell you how many people complain, yet play dozens if not hundreds of matches a day, and spend significant amounts of money. I generally don’t take it to heart any more, especially when comments come from someone who has 100s or 1000s of posts.

I'm tired of being told "soon." I'm tired of devs backing out of stated deadlines. I'm tired of devs answering questions on Reddit instead of here. I'm tired of playing the same 4.3 maps. But mostly I'm tired of not getting the "triple A" experience I was sold last year, only to see week after week, month after month of no change in Netcode, stability (4 fps bug, client hanging on shutdown, no DX11 to utilize my modern GPU) and no Community Warfare (90 days after Open Beta).

Apparently the only way to reach them is decreased profits and lower playercounts. I beg you: if you're not satisfied please stop playing daily, and stop buying MC. You vote with your wallet, not your post history. I vow from now on to only play on patch day to see if the game has SIGNIFICANTLY improved.

If you are satisfied by your MWO experience, by all means continue to play and enjoy. No one is trying to hinder your fun here. But if you're not happy, give them something to think about, and join me in finding something less disappointing to spend our precious free time.

also, they don't listen to people with a lot of money spent, a lot of games played, and a lot of forum posts.

so.. yeah don't do those things and they will listen to you.

I would be careful. Someone who has access to your stats probably has access to much much more. Perhaps even accidental deletion power. :D

PGI listens and cares.... Theres quite a few changes that have happened due to them listening. Though, I understand why they take more notice of someone that calmly gives a logical and thought out suggestion over someone thats all like huffy puffy over something and rambling on and on about some injustice they have had to endure due to incompetence. As if insulting the devs will make them listen to you more >.>

The problem with ToR and D3 was that blizzard and BioEA didn't listen at all. They didn't care, and thought they knew what the players wanted better then the players. BioEA though messed up more, as they didn't bother to fix anything at all. As all the bugs in beta were still there in release. All their bad designs were still there in release as well, as they didn't listen. Then when they finally got the picture that some of their designs were bad, they messed them up even more by trying to change them, good example was illum.

There's a perception among many here than the devs at PGI just don't care either, at least some of them.

Thomas is a stand up guy though.

Lol I just realized that ToR is the old republic. Jeez after seeing their free to play model I am not surprised that the game didn't do well they must have no idea what they are doing. I have my own reason for not supporting the game and still refuse to play it even after going free to play (or whatever they are calling that abomination.)

TOR launched as a 15 dollar per month Subscription based game with a 60 dollar retail purchase also required.

The f2p model was literally tacked on as a bandaid because surprise, when even WoW is fighting hard to keep it's numbers from falling, other subscription based games are pretty much dead and not even the Star Wars brand could keep the sub numbers high enough.

Short hairs? Ha, there are other games out there. I personally like what was done with GW2 and find it to be a great game. You may have to buy it but it's no monthly fee.

It's an internet video game in Beta, not an international puppy slaying conglomerate. Now stop throwing a temper tantrum. We want this game to succeed, so we support it. We do not run the development, so launching some sort of coup to pretend like you have power over it is just silly. Stop trying to ruin it for the rest of us. If you don't like the game, then you can quit, you don't have to support or invest in it, but trying to subvert the development and recruiting malcontents is just petty.

Its not that Sub games are dead, Eve online is doing quite well with sub, Grows every year. Though I think its more that it was Biowares first MMO and major venture in to online gaming. Along with EA driving the train. Then to add on to all that, they choose to make a clone of a ancient MMO style thats been going out of style. WoW in space is not something you want your MMO described as.
