I find max XL engines are usualy the way to go with lights, since the speed grants more longevity than the armor does.

Endo
DHS (13)
210xl
4x mlas
Will prolly drop to 200xl once i get the speed tweak and add another DHS or additonally drop 2 armor points and add an AMS instead.
Working good so far now that laser ticks actually register

xl 195
armor as is
ES internal
1x llas
2x mlas
1x tag
rest with heatsinks
the idea behind that build is to support the team via tagging
the llas is for doing some damage from "safe distance"
and the mlas are just for the pew pew lolz
i'll see how it works out...hope the flamers get an overhaul soon...i already envy those DK pilots that use 4x flamers - you alost think they're using some sort of stealth technology because they vanish from your minimap constantly for shutting down xD

This ones gonna be tough though with XL100 and single HS, but you get 2 PPC in right arm

Mine's name is Eyepoker (although it says Deathsnail in my mechlab...). I like running it, especially with a more leveled playing field with improved netcode. Sillyness still gets you killed just as quickly, but less shots go to waste and the gap between skill and luck has widened.
After getting used to finishing up battles in my SP with quad MLas in the arms, putting those arms on a COM sure is tons of fun. I run a simple DHS/Endo/MLas x4/xl200 setup at the moment, but here are a few others worth consideration if anyone else here is going commando..:

I STRONGLY URGE PEOPLE NOT TO PURCHASE IT UNLESS THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE GETTING THEMSELVES INTO.
This is basically due to the fact that while the damage can be decent, the speed about the same as other lights, and the arm actuators are kinda neat this 'mech is a flaming death trap the second anything with so much as a single streak srm is anywhere near you.
So if you mind dying a lot, don't buy it. If you mind getting griefed by your team if you aren't really good, don't buy it. If you want a good competitive 'mech, don't buy it.
If you have the cash, you like Commandos, and you want this thing just for funzies then this is the 'mech for you.

I put together a quick build that runs 4 MPLAS. Might run a bit hot, but I'd be lying if I said there wasn't some part of me that wants to run around as ghetto-Mega Man.
Now not to be completely ignorant, but would putting in a lpl and 1 medlas be appropriate? The heat efficiency is all but doubled and it provides nearly identical dps.
Opinions? http://mwo.smurfy-ne...bed76409ecbd69e

This is what I would run if I bought the DK.

Hum, you lose alpha damage (15 from the LPLAS/MLAS, 24 from the 4MPLAS) but works out to the same DPS because of the heat savings. Guess you have to ask yourself if you use more of an "attack and fade" style, or more of a "I'm going to live behind this assault mechs back" style. Both are viable, but different roles.
On the plus side, you get a mega-buster arm. That's some pretty fine PewPewPew.

yeah, io had to strip down 0.5 tons of armor to fit in the AMS, but so far it is definitely worth it. mainly not for me, i tend to simply outrun LRMs, but for my team.
without the AMS i had 1 free ton what i couldn't fill.... i couldn't stand that at all ^^
it is btw a really effective build, runs pretty cold, especially if you chainfire your lazors to hunt lights.

210 XL w/ 2 SP Lasers and 2 MP lasers.
The Commando has arm movement speed faster than any other mech, meaning you can run by another light at 148kph and twist those arms so fast that your pulse lasers hit them. I just had match where it was 1-on-1 with a Raven and it had streaks, I legged the *******, then another mech killed me

Point being, this thing can leg like a beast due to the arm movement, it requires a lot of aiming skill and very little lag to be effective. Like the screenshot on the first page, one match with a competent PUG I had 4 kills, 2 assists, and 350 damage.
They are far from useless, just really hard to learn to use effectively.

Inspired by the bottom build, I went to the lab:
By doubling-down on the one-sided design, I added some heat efficiency. I had .65 tons, and 1 slot leftover, so I added the small laser and some armor, but you could just as easily drop the FF armor and save yourself a few bucks.
