Try setting to max performance in nvidia settings... Your gpu could be downclocking in the mwo client..

I'm not a n00b, I have been beta testing this game since last summer and it already is as I wrote the thread of performance here: http://mwomercs.com/...vidiaamd-users/

While I gave a very positive feedback regarding FPS stability, Latency on the other hand, after the patch is terrible. Maybe because the increase of players post patch playing the game to try stuff but I'm not sure. I usually play on 274-290 ping pre-patch. Post-patch it is now ranging from 300-340... very bad :) makes all fast movers lag shielded.

Can't you really do anything to improve latency for us SEA players? Like allow connections from proxy services like WTFast, Battleping etc... so that we can have atleast a stable connection? I know latency related to distance can't be helped at all but the stability.... :P

Can we assume that you've done the following -

Cleared shaders.
Re-installed
Updated and/or rolled back video drivers.

i had this happen last night, i was running around on forest colony in my SDR-5D and got what appeared to be a lag spike, and then the game dropped me. My internet did not go out or anything, I was still connected on Skype with a friend I was playing with in the same match and he asked me why I was just standing there not doing anything. Apparently about half of the people in that match dropped as well because my friend told me a bunch of other mechs were just standing idly.

It's very odd that you are getting such poor performance. My friend a system very similar to yours, the only difference is that you have a much better video card than he does, but he has 16 gigs of RAM to your eight. Otherwise, he has the same mobo, cpu, and other peripherals.

He gets 37-50 FPS on an old Radeon 5990 since the latest patch.

yes, yes, Drivers wouldn't make difference because even the "Flash"(aka Scaleform GFx) UI in the game is running slow which has nothing to do with the 3D rendering!...

If you check the CPU usage of each of your 4 cores while running the game, are all 4 getting used? If not, then that's a problem. Not sure if that's a client or OS issue though...

I'd run 3dmark Vantage benchmark program (not the DX11 version) and compare where your PC stands compared to others. If yours is in the middle or high end, then it may be that your particular setup isn't what MWO was optimized for. If its on the low end, then it could be a config or hardware issue of some sort. When I had a system on the low end of the benchmarks for my rig at the time, it was a hardware issue.

It's only this game and it's the game client as it's only using 20-30% of my total cpu....

P.S. I never had any issues before this recent patch and all my other games work flawlessly.

I've issues in USA prime time with the lag. My ping is around 145ms and it doesn't seem to be worse in USA prime time, but I have noticed that sometimes even if I discharge an alpha to somebody right in front of me (not circling) the damage doesn't register, even against heavies and assaults. That doesn't happen so often when i'm playing at a different time of the day.

  • How had the patch generally affected your performance?
fps got slightly better - but still not playable
  • Whether there are specific points in the game when your performance changes.
everything's absolutely smooth when the game starts - fps drops as i start to move - fps drops heavily as soon as enemies/more mechs get in range
  • What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
everything on low settings, even use resolution 1280x768 instead of (native)1366*768
(the only change between patches was the turning down of the resolution)
  • Average FPS ingame and in the menus for previous patch and latest patch (Press F9 to see your FPS)
unfortunately haven't checked via f9 - but mechlab etc is absolutely smooth
as game starts it is about 20-25 fps (from my experience)
as soon as fighting begins it is around 10-18 fps

before this patch, fps was slightly worse...but not much
  • System specs (You can include them in a [spoiler] [ /spoiler])
Intel Core i3 CPU M 390
4096MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M (mwo is forced to use the nvidia card)
  • Your advertised internet connection speed / Geographic location
don't know the advertised speed (between 120-250ms ping), Austria

For the most recent patch, my group of friends have had mixed, but mostly positive change in fps. None of these are high-end systems.

-How had the patch generally affected your performance?
The two of us with dual-core systems have seen their fps go from 15 fps in December to around 45fps with the latest patch. *My* system has dropped from 55 fps to 45 fps with the latest patch.

-Whether there are specific points in the game when your performance changes.
No (mine), startup, empty map, firefight, they're all ~45 fps.

-What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
Absolute minimum, AA off, V-sync off. No change since the last patch.

-Average FPS ingame and in the menus for previous patch and latest patch (Press F9 to see your FPS)
As above, ingame fps has improved to 45 fps for the dual core systems and dropped to 45 fps on my system. My system has ~85 fps in the menu.

-System specs: improved systems (aprox)
Athlon 2 X2
Radeon 4890

Pentium g series (aka 2-core i3)
GeForce 560

-System specs: slower system
Phenom II x4 940
Radeon 4870
Ram 8GB

-Your advertised internet connection speed / Geographic location
Slower system only:
5m down/768k up ADSL2
ping ~80ms

Instinct says that the recent changes to improve dual-core hurt systems with more cores. Still, iIf I had to chose between the two, I'd keep the current engine as my framerate is still usable and my friends have much more fun.

Same performance as last patch been locked in at 60 fps with v-sync on with dips to 45-50 during combat. All Setting are on high .

Only minor issue I've had is being randomly dropped from battle back into the Mwo lobby. It's been happening a bit more lately than it used to, now about 3-5 times a day.. Otherwise very enjoyable patch.

I5 3570k
GTX 670
16 GB Ram.

Before today, I never had this problem. Now, I even disconnect within the Mechlab. I'm not sure what information client side would be useful to help you fix this, but If anything I tell you could help please just ask.

Do I need to clear some cache?
First attempt to play after patch and crashed back to mechlab.
Correction - full client crash.
