So far about 70% are for a stock game mode...anyone else surprised?

I am.

I guess they should implement it then. I won't use it, but if others want to, they should have the option.

Maybe it could be done if we get some kind of Lobby / Private Match system at least. Just a checkbox "Stock Mechs only".

This would be a fun mode to play in and make combat last way longer since the Trial Mechs/Stock Mechs are kinda terrible!

I love Battletech.

But lets be real about this, the game was designed 20 years ago in a different age. There was nowhere near the level of playtesting back then and the idea of 'tweaking' stats for game balance was a pipe-dream. You put the stats in the book and they were pretty much fixed.

Some of the mechs they released, well really a lot of them, were just terrible. The Spider was neat-looking but we all know what that mech really is and have you seen the stock versions of the upcoming Jagermech, it is a walking coffin.

Yes, no one would dare dream of taking the good stock mechs.

This would be epic.

It would take an entirely new skill set and force people to focus on heat a bit more...

I would be up for it, if there were ether a larger range of trial Mechs OR when selecting that game mode the mech you chose was replaced with or temporality reverted to a stock version of the same Mech.

All the Mechs I own have received significant modification to better suit my play style so I would not want to have to restore them to stock in order to play, or have to buy new Mechs

A little?

Pay attention to the stock loadouts. You are literally counting 10 Mississippi for a number of them. Remember these are TT loadouts the heatsinks don't reflect the rate of fire.

.....must less ammo for double armor.

Stock loadouts often don't translate well into MWO. It's usually due to poor ammo and heat conversions, though some loadouts are just plain dumb to begin with.

Additionally, customization being one of the main appeals of the game, I just can't see this being a good idea.

However... it's entirely possible some hardcore TT fans would enjoy the familiarity, and some players will feel more secure instantly knowing what equipment an enemy mech has.

Personally though... definitely not interested.

Ya this would be great, and if it becomes more popular than expected they could have a hard core game option. Paul confirmed private match making in one of the NGNG podcasts.

I have often thought about this as well. It would probably be a whole new game play experience. Really would love it.

Stock mechs overheat like crazy... a stock mech mode would need like a 100% heat efficiency bonus for all mechs.

They only need to fix heat, the Awesome for instance rocks in the TT, MW2: Mercs and the MW4 series.

I would play it 24/7 with or without ELO. ^_^ :P .And i would invest MC into the game. But it would need to be trial/stock Vs trial/stock only with FPV or 3rd Person view.

PGI is not going to fix heat. We have been asking them to fix it for months and theyve ignored us.

Yeah, and that's the biggest obstacle when new players try stock mechs for the first time.

No, Mechwarrior is about building Mechs and fighting Mechs. Remove one element and you have a different game.

It would give trial users a better playing field, so I'm totally ok with this.

Heat is somewhat of an issue with trials, but the fact that many of the default loadouts cant compete against fully upgraded mechs is what makes them so horrible. Without an RnR system of some kind, there is almost nothing holding people back when they load up their mech, and trials get screwed because of it.
