It's on my list to start work on tomorrow, roughly 12 hours from now. Hopefully will have a post up by this time tomorrow.

Spokes, your writing continues to impress post after post.
Holy. Shitake. Mushrooms.

First instinct would be to send James to the rescue, but considering Li's cognitive functions are roasting, she resented James last time he tried and she's about to "SCORPION SMASH!" the infantry, he'll be keeping his distance I think. Not to mention, he's busy painting for LRMs (convenient excuse is convenient :D )

As for the upgrades and overhauls, Looks good so far. I must say Sparks, I'm particularly fond of SLDF era base model upgrades and their "Royal b' variant cousins. Only problem I've seen is they're very hard to write into any kind of story unless there are -significant- reasons why the character would have access to that kind of gear. My vote is that Fishy's backstory fits that to a tee.

We may need to stumble across a number of XL engines and similar high level tech somewhere in Karkhand to make the re-fits viable. A ducal stash? Royal guard supply depot? Possibilities are there I'd say.

Shepard, you may recall a certain despot with a particular mech that was obscenely rare before both of them met their demise.

An Exterminator EXT-4C?

That'd be a particularly fine feather in our cap.

Though you might have already thought of this, the Spector SPR-4F lets you stay within the same weight class, slightly less rare and still superior to the Wolfhound in many ways. Given it's more fragile, but if you're taking hits at 118.8kph with jumpjets, a Null Sig, CLPS -and- Guardian ECM when not running silent, you might be doing it wrong.

You would also have to paint James' RVN-3L bright green to reflect the level of ensuing jealously.

Just a thought ^_^

Thanks all. . .I've been easing towards that for a long time now. Glad to know the wait was worth it.

That said, I apologize for sort of shoehorning that sequence in-- I wanted to get that out before the end of this "chapter", and it was starting to feel like I was running out of time. Li is currently not in direct line of sight to any of the PCs, and with her communications currently down it is doubtful anyone else knows what's going on. Not exactly the most graceful way to do that, I admit, but it was the only thing I could think of.

Others might be able to hear it though. When the Scorpion starts using its legs as pile drivers, I imagine that might make quite a ruckus.

I'm going to leave the actual fight off camera, and pick back up in the immediate aftermath. Virgil has an auxiliary comm antenna so the communications black out is temporary, though the secondary system isn't as good so there will be some distortion.

"Resented" is not really the right word. "Frustrated" might be a better fit. Maybe. If I've left you with the impression that Li will be upset if she doesn't get to solo the loyalist army, I've done something wrong. ^_^

Quote

"I'll take the shuttle in closer. Zoe, ship is yours. Remember, if anything happens to me, or you don't hear from me within the hour, you take this ship and you come and you rescue me."

"What? And risk my ship?"

"I mean it. It's cold out there. I don't wanna get left."

As far as upgrades are concerned, I think I'm going to have to leave Li's Scorpion more or less alone. The 'Mech under goes a substantial rebuild in late 3060 as part of the run up to the Steel and Snow campaign, and there's really not much I can do to it that won't interfere with that, or honestly be realistic.

Any significant change would require replacing the 25 ton engine, and that's just not going to happen. I think Virgil has enough internal space to mount ferro fibrous armor, but that's an expense I don't think we want. The 'Mech does have a lot of "intangibles" though, from basic astrogation equipment and radiation detection gear to basic repair and support functionality and software that lets the 'Mech function as a communications relay. Pre Steel and Snow, Virgil is not going to be able to out run or out shoot an upgraded 'Mech, but I think I can keep it useful to the team all the same.

I will say, prepping for the SnS campaign required a bit of brainstorming on what Vega's Havoks might have evolved into post-Kharkand, and the unit I had in my head was more of a "rapid-response" force. It's looking like we're going to trend heavier than I thought we would.

@Shepard. You misunderstand my mentioning the Exterminator, but that's okay.

@Spokes. Who knows, either Steel and Snow or Vega's Havoks might take place in an alternate timeline.

Speaking of which, I'm considering putting off the next part(s) of Vega's Havoks for a side story/RP that I came up with. I will however let y'all decide what you want to do next though.

@Sparks. YAY! NOW I CAN RAIN DEATH AND DESTRUCTION ON EVERYONE! ;)

No worries Janitor-- I was extremely vague with Vega's Havoks in SnS, so there shouldn't be any problems. I can roll with just about anything, and the few milestones I'd like to hit should be easy enough to work in. Assuming Li doesn't fall face first into a pine box before 3060 that is. :(

Sadly, no. This is just something Spokes has been working on with image manipulation. But after it was mentioned, I've been considering doing a mod of my own...

andre doesn't even have to be in control to be awesome. locust baseball champion of the world.

can we assume that cedric is not going to backstab us?

cause my charger is the only one who even stands a chance against that thing. and even then i would likely have to hit it with a charge attack. 64 damage hit.

I want to give an ambiguous answer to your question Dal, mostly to leave the "Uh, we shit, we can't trust this guy" vibe to mess with you guys.

But no, Cedric is not gonna backstab us.

Nope, I f.ucked up, posted it at 5 AM and didn't realize I'd used Leofric, Maerec was the name I meant to use. EDITS INBOUND AS PROMISED.

EDIT: Wouldn't be an important post if I didn't screw it up hardcore.

You guys can't see it right now, but I am lmao. And the best part is, I'm pretty sure Janitor is as well, while having his finger hover over the auto-kill button. Cause Shade is looking between James and this new arrival and just going like "wtf just happened?"

Well, that's what he gets for playing games with his IFF transponder in front of a bunch of twitchy MechWarriors. Great post Shep.

I'm playing in the faction event if any of you wants to try and sync drop, get some Havok action in.

Also, would you all like me to do another post to get things moving forward again? Or do you all want time to react properly?

EDIT: Guardian Wolf, your post runs the line of being too much of a joke/comedy sketch, please edit the "kiss and make up" stuff out if you please.
Also, Cedric is the more arrogant of the brothers, the presumptuous way you addressed him may incur additional damage to your mech. Jus' sayin'.

I think I'll hold off posting till you move things forward a bit, Janitor. Devastator's are nasty, and even if Billy isn't too familiar with the design, he should know enough to lay low and avoid it just incase this is a trick.

Maybe just a short one Janitor? Unless Cedric decides to open fire, it's looking like this should be between him and Vega. For the moment at least.
