50 games, 3-10 mins each, median being around 5-6mins. Loading, menu, and match preparation+ end scores push it to about 8-10mins per match. 50 games alone is then around 7 hours of playing. And apparently 50 matches dont seem to cut it.
WAY TOO MUCH! No way any family guy can get this much time to play. And the best players I've played with are the ones who are in their thirties, and have families. Maybe the time the tournament will be extended to weeks. Just maybe

Yeah, I just attempted to do this and I failed. I can't stay up and do this anymore.
At first I was 7th, moved back to 25th. Now I'm 18th. I'm sure I can get up to the top 5, but I don't grasp the Scoring concept. For the most part. I have either the highest kills or assists. I won more than half of my games. My damage is pretty good, ranging from 500ish to 1000 (for the most part). By the time I'm done typing this I'll be way behind. I give up.
I wish the best of luck to the current Top 25 and to all that will take part in the Assault tournament. Name is Mistato under Assault section. Atleast I can say I tried. housesteiner.com 6th RCT

Question 1: Are you trolling us?
Question 2: Is there a chance for the formula of the leaderboard to change within the weekend and shuffle leader positions?

So, I have been playing my Founder Mech and guess what. It actually is not a Unique Variation.
Atlas for instance is a standard AS7-D.
When they offered the Founder Mech they did not have skins implemented. Now that they do - they should go back and make a unique skin for the Founder Mech, and also make one for every Founder Status (Elite, Legendary etc)
Bottom line, I feel that they just forgot to come back to the Founder Mech's and implement the features that the rest of the Mech's do.
Cheers to PGI giving back to the Founders that helped contribute in significant ways.

I'm going to quote this just because it should be made aware of.

The Choice: A pretty banner with no discernable impact (woo-hoo?, I guess - it's like owning a shiny Rolls Royce that doesn't run) vs. Responsible Gaming
The Issue: From the original announcement: "For the Light, Medium, Heavy, and Assault Champion challenges we are using an aggregate score that weighs Win/Loss Ratio, Kills, Kill Assists, Capture Assists, Spotting Assists, and Games Played." (emphasis mine)
and also,
"1st tie breaker goes to the player with the most matches".
Doing it this way is automatically cutting off a massive population of players: those who have inconvenient things like jobs; families to support; a healthy set of other interests (e,g, female companionship or motorcycles or Terry Pratchett novels or what-have-you); you know, gamers with lives. I am in no way saying that if you as a player have the time and the responsibility-free lifestyle option of being a dependent on someone else's tax returns that you shouldn't spend every waking hour having fun playing MWO, because I can say without hesitation that I would have done the same (interstitial PSA: kids: don't spend every waking hour playing video games, even though it's awesome).
But I AM saying that to give preferential treatment to those players who can forsake everything else for the sake of playing this game is to denigrate a substantial portion of your paying player base.
Of considerable importance for the Piranha Games executives to consider, perhaps, is the concept that it is precisely these sorts of players who play regularly, but less frequently (i.e. those who have jobs and therefore disposable income, if not necessarily disposable time) who are most apt to give you cold hard cash for the privilege of playing your game.
As it stands now, you have set up the rules for this contest in such a way that someone could be a serious butt-kicker in every single match she plays, but still not be recognized for thoze mad skillz because she can only play a tenth of the number of matches that another player can.
+100
Another thing I want to add, that it would be interesting to evaluate the challenge seperate for US and Europe. Why? Just because on Sunday US players will have 8 hours more time to play (cause Europeans will have to sleep in order to be able to get to work

If I'm as bad as I think, then the "overall" ranking is really borked ... #210 overall after 31 matches (7L, 7M, 7H, 10A) just doesn't seem right. If there really are over 5000 players who opted in, that means I'm in the top 5%, which I'm definitely not.

Having said that, I had fun yesterday, and I'm really pleased with where I got to! I finished the evening having played half as many games as the leaders, this morning I see the leaders have doubled that figure. In all seriousness how do people squeeze so many matches in? No sleep presumably! I wont be participating any more, I simply don't have the time to sink the whole weekend into this

Still, it was fun to test my skills day one. To everyone else out there, have fun this weekend, whether or not you are competing.

It is short answered:
Because PGI could have done this soo endles much better with just freaking 32 or maybe 64 dev hours to spend for the most easy lobby thing to implement.
Ok ok, they would have then needed one or 2 people running the tournament and the pairings and stuff but... yeah, THAT would actually have been a tournament^^

I understand you want to promote playing your game (duh!). I also state without fear of contradiction that you have good reason to do so because it's a great f-ing game. But what you're saying with these rules is, as machine puts it, it's "a who has the most free time contest".
I couldn't agree more. It wouldn't have taken much effort to find out your rating system was horribly flawed. I'm sure you meant well but you really did end up failing on this one.
I hope you correct this mistake next go around and not let something like this happen again, especially in the actual game, because there are plenty of other distractions out there I could be spending my free time on.
