I can't believe the amount of people that charge into fights blind without taking a few moments to consider how they'll handle the engagement. You're right, most mechs can't step away from that speed, but then again, they shouldn't be engaging it in short range in the first place and instead should pick it apart from a distance, or bait it into some friends. Goes for most of these boat builds.

However, the splatcat is almost as fast, and has a 90 alpha, stupid amount of torso twist, and jump jets to boot. The only way to fix cheese builds is to raise the heat generated by firing large groups of the same weapon type, to the point where if any attempt to override is done, they will take significant damage. In the Devs Answers #32 they said they are in the planning phase of this right now. This will make all the cheese builds extremely prohibitive to use. Not impossible, but by all means, far,far more risky.

YOU the pilot are the most powerful weapon in the game. Stop crying and use that weapon to its fullest potential.

A CN-9A should have limited issues with a SRM Cat when played properly and built properly. You can have 3 SRM6, 2 ML and 1 AC/5 on your chassis, of which only the AC/5 is vulnerable to destruction (everyone shoots off the right arm of a Cent). As long as you are paying attention to the map, you can snipe the SRM Cat before engaging one on one OR wait for him to attack a heavy (he will pick a heavy over you) and use your speed to close and hit their vulnerable hind quarters.

You're doing it wrong you noob.
You're supposed to die repeatedly, in the exact same way, then come on forums to rage and blame the game because you are perfect and its obviously the game that is flawed and needs to be fixed.
Stop talking sense and go stand in the corner

Let's nerf all weapons systems and platforms down to the point where we have:
Light Mech
Medium Mech
Heavy Mech
Assault Mech
And everyone gets 2 of each:
short range weapon
medium range weapon
long range weapon
After we have the game homogenized to that form of pablum will the bads be happy.

This is the sime tired as **** logic that shows up whenever people defend blatantly broken game mechanics.
Nope, Ret Paladins are fine.

I'm sorry man, but I play a Stalker PPC/SSRM boat and it destroys A1 SRM Boats 1 on 1, why because I get in 2 shorts to the Cat's torso's before he can fire on me at 100M, thats including him ambushing me and then I switch to streaks while shaking my torsos so he can't get a good aim point to repeat fire on me.
I'm sorry man, but I play a Stalker PPC/LRM boat and it destroys A1 SRM Boats 1 on 1. Why, because I scan the horizon and as soon as I see any cat (you know SRM Boat, AC/20 boat, LRM Boat) and I start PPC's blasts immediately and a few LRM volleys as well and I keep watching for them. By the time the SRM Cat closes on me, and he will I should have his torsos exposed so that it takes 2 to 3 PPC volleys to core him.
All mechs have counters, you just have to have situational awareness and a plan to handle them, all mechs, all builds. If you are running an Energy weapon boating SP and decide to go toe to toe with a SRM Cat from the front, you damn well deserve to be destroyed for playing bad.

Why should my 100 ton Brawler not engage a SPlat Cat? What else am I supposed to do? Not shoot at enemies?
We're not simply talking about a dumb LRM pilot here that suddenly realizes he got himself into melee where none of his weapon work and his paper thin armour would be destroyed by a Quad MG Spider... We're talking about mechs engaging in a brawl because that's what they are supposed to do? Or should I just check if there are any SPlatapults around on chat and report my team "Okay guys, I am a brawler, there'S a splat, i'll go cap, good luck with the fight!"
Or do you know want to suggest that I am not supposed to bring a brawler, and only have to bring mechs that engage at mutliple ranges? Because there is one specific type of Brawler in the game, I can't play another brawler?
Why do people always assume that only incompetent gits could possibly see something as balanced?

My guess is you're using it to differentiate from streaks, but let's be realistic here. . even a splat-a-cat is a "no skill" weapon (for exactly the reasons you're using to make your point) It does not take much to run up, pull the trigger, watch someone pop, rinse, and repeat.
I don't care what you pilot. EVERYTHING has it's weakness, providing you have at least one other person backing you up.

You pilot the Stalker, arguably one of the most powerful mechs in the game, with one of the highest armor values protecting its engine and flexible amount of viable builds. ,If you get killed by an A1 in a Stalker you're a terrible player. In fact, I expect a Stalker to easily kill an A1 with little to no effort or brainpower at all. So your point is moot. I am asking you to understand that the SRM, the weapon with the highest damage to tonnage ratio in the game, is unbalanced.
This is why we now are seeing Centurions running around with 2 shield arms instead of 1, using 3 SRM6's instead of 2 with an autocannon. There's no point in using an autocannon. You can just slap in the biggest engine you can and boat SRM's and go into braindead mode running around blasting enemies at close range with little to no effort at all. The meta-game for brawlers is majorly "boat SRM6's" "W+M1".
That's not fun or balanced at all.
