Urbie needs to hold on to his roots, your art is very nice, but it's too lanky IMO. It needs to looks like a slowed down mech made for defence and economy.

Now Urbie is a magnificent mech, we all know that, but there are certain...things...that Urbie does not like to do. Urbie doesn't like to run for instance, but he can jump. Urbie may not be agile, but Urbie can spin his torso like a turret.

We all know that PGI's main goal for this game is to get Urbie in as soon as possible, but Urbie must be given the proper time and flavor in order to introduce this King of all Mechs wihout unbalancing the whiole game.for the crazies that do not wish to play with Urbie.

Urbie must have a small size in the game, this is because Urbie isn't fast enough to get "Lag Shield" While Urbie doesn't NEED lag shield, because he's a real man (for a mech), that's just fair (balanced).. Urbie also needs to have 360 torso twist (this is because why not,? (Don't say TT or you will be erased from my BFF list)

Urbie must also be cute, because Urbie IS cute, it's a fact of fiction! Even after Urbie gets a do-over for the game, Urbie must be CUTE!!! Like a kitten with guns.

Here here on everything but increasing the engine cap massively... really hope it is possible to balance with quirks and not take away the Urbie's most distinctive trait!

It IS cheating because the standard mech design managed to sqeeze in the gear WITHOUT endo steel and ferro in the standard design.

Urbies are more the comedic side of the game for me. They should be the drones that we kill in the testing grounds. They should be what greets us when we log onto the website. There should be a web series where urbies are the stars. Pve could be you and a friend vs a lance of urbies. They are what we tease each other with. "your aim is so bad i could kill you in an urban mech.". With urbies in the game people will stop saying spiders suck. They don't need to be viable to have a use to us.

P.s. urbies could be a trial mech that never leaves. Better yet, the urban mech section of the mech lab. What you own, the trials, the urbies. It would be cool.

The beauty is that Urbies are always viable and underestimated, just like the spider

If you look in the last answers to "ask the dev's" section they say:

FrostCollar: Are there any plans to introduce the UrbanMech as a full mech and not just as the best bobblehead that you can put on your dashboard?

A: <redacted>

LOL....... Any guesses to what he said? i heard it was..... A: YOU fn' RIGHT WE GONNA MAKE URBANMECH!

In a mech shorter than a commando, with jumpjets, and if done right, 360 torso rotation, fast torso twist and such? Might be more viable than you think. Certainly it runs into a wolf pack of members, it's toast, but what isn't?

Stop looking at the just the broad strokes. There are enough areas NOT set in stone where the urbie could be made to shine. Well.... Unless he draws alpine. Then the poor lol fella is SCREWED. Just wish LB-X worked better. Seeing the sawed off runt kick down a door and blast a raven with a shotty would be priceless. (of course poor urbie worked better before doubled armor. See with that, his thick hide became less vital, whereas before an ac/10 would pot most lights in A couple of shots.

Retooled Urbie designs are slick dude, esp the police variant. I'd take regular-line Urbies and the hero in police livery.

"Nice shooting, what's your name, son?"

"Urbie."

I want the Urbie in the game at the same time they introduce melee (kicking, punching, etc)

So my Atlas can play "kick the can"

Urbie as a chassis wouldn't be much different than a Jenner or Raven. It's just supposed to be slow. Which means a low engine cap.

As has been seen via the AC/20 Raven, it can be done. And the Raven 4x is pretty much the same chassis... Jump jet capable, Ballistic mount in one arm, laser mount in the other. Just mirror swap the arms.

But much slower than the AC/20 Raven....

i don't really have ideas to make it viable, but just the other day i was talking to my friends saying how it would be cool to have an urbie in the game, and if they added a hero version of it that it would sell like hot cakes for pgi. dunno i just love the ugly little ******, it was one of my first table top purchases adter the boxed sets. love your art work. great stuff bro

Although I don't share your love for the urbanmech, I sympathize. Seeing this thread pop up almost as often as ecm threads, it must be important for a lot of people.

Since it's supposed to be a mech specialized in urban warfare, and it's greatest mobility advantage is it's jump jets, how about giving it superior pitch over other mechs? Allowing it to scale tall buildings while having no issues aiming down, might give it an edge in that regard.

Really cool concept art. A bit too cool for an urbanmech I suspect.

@ side step:

Great idea. With it's tiny size, add that and great acceleration, along with really fast 360 torso rotation. Bang! Also as one of the most produced mecha in the inner sphere (& heck, even the clans have em), there would be tons of latitude for the devs to mod them. Too cheap and plentiful to believe they are all stock

Just disregard engine restrictions for the urbie, along with adding all the quirks that Bishop mentioned and it'll be a highly viable machine after all.

Just pop in DHS, endo, and XL engines and it'll be a beast.
