Someone please tell me how the A1 is viable outside of the natural splatcat cfg, w/o TAG.

Then again, someone please tell me how the related C4 is viable with its natural inability to defend itself w/o losing the ability to use TAG or a large laser.

Once someone is able to tell me there are better options for the last cata to master after the C1+K2, let me know.

you could drop 2 of the srm 6s and put some LRMs in it, also you could have a c4 with LRMs SRMs and 2 med lasers (add artemis to both set ups if you can/feel like it)

There's no need to nerf the A1, and I don't believe it will be. Despite it's current fotm mojo it is still the weakest catapult chassis, and I say this as a dedicated catapult pilot.

A splatcat is a one-trick mech and should not be a problem for anyone, unless it counters you, and in that case you should be avoiding them. I should also say that as a long range cat pilot, I eat a lot of splatcats, because I counter them. If they get close enough to splat me, that's totally my fault.

but at 100 meters splatcat trumps everything...

edit: forgot a 0

Don't nerf the splat-cat.. Nerf ECM.

The splat cat only got popular because of ECM.. (It cannot possibly mount anything reliable other than SRMs.. so what do you THINK it should mount? SRMs. Don't nerf the weakest Catapult Variant because it was forced to become a 270 meter monster.)

Fix ECM, give it options, and make it fear range again. You've nerfed the splatcat.

Prove the splat cat is OP, then we can talk about nerfing it.

I'll wait.

I'm not saying nerf thre A1, I'm saying something needs to be done about it boating srms (or the srms themseles)

A1 doesn't need any changes. It's the SRMs that need a nerf. Too weight efficient, too alpha much damage. A1s should not be able to facestomp Atlases and Stalkers, but that's what they do. Very clear evidence of imbalances.

Then what are you defending, if not your Splatcat or SRMs here?

We're still waiting for the incoming SRM nerf.

My concern is strictly not having backup weapons or even the use of TAG (especially when ECM is involved when using LRMs). I'm not putting any considerations w/o one or the other. Otherwise, they simply become the frail boats that they are.

The "fix" is reducing their damage. So it's pretty much the same thing. But you could call every nerf a "fix" or every similar fix a "nerf". Call it what you like.

The "nerf" is them FIXING a broken mechanic, not arbitrarily reducing the damage it does.

no the fix is removing the splash dmg bonus, a nerf would be lowering the damage from 2.5 to lets say 1.8 SRMS are still going to be just as dangerous after the splash dmg bug gets fixed.

in both of those cases you have back up weapons, The C4 has SRMS and MLs, and the A1 has 4 SRM 6s.

SRM6s will do you more good against ECM lights than a tag ever will.

I'm not defending either.

I'm waiting for proof. And while I wait for that I am getting plenty of lulz.

there's lots of proof maybe you should look harder
(though it's not the cat itself, more the boating having no downsides and streak both being rediculously good and being bugged atm)

As I have constantly said, Boating is as much a part of the game as the mechs themselves. If they outlawed boating we wouldnt even HAVE Catapults. The whole line is a designed boat. And the Awesome for that matter

what a bright little ray of sunshine you are, as wrong as you are.

my jobs not to be a ray of sunshine, its to dispel some myths. Ergo, you must be one of the bads i mention if you really have an issue with the A1 after ECM.

You are simply delusional Omni or possibly ignorant of mechanics.. The downside is that you have a specialized build that is useful inside its niche...when it works, it works very well and when it doesnt, its next to useless.

Hmm....just like TT....odd that.
