Yeah, I will admit I'm responding in anger at the moment.

The shills get me really mad.

Shills aren't responsible for crowbarring RnR 1.1 and coolant into the game, or making 'soon' promises about third person. Direct your wrath towards those responsible. They need you more than you need them.

We're all adults here. You think if this crashes, and it likely will, MW will die out? No. Someone's gonna steal the game wholesale, put it on a russian server somewhere, and we'll play 'MECHWARRIOR ONLINE: now proudly PGI free' for the next ten years.

The whole company seems built around egos.

May I assume no one going nuts over this knows how WoT's 3rd person view functions and if applied to MWO would deny many if not possibly all advantages gained from 3rd person in a 'Mech.

It is not WoT's 3rd person that does that. It is their view system. The bloody craptastic view system that can have a tank vanish in an open field 200 meters away from you and it is present in both 3rd and first person in that game). Otherwise the 3rd person in WoT does nothing to remove the advantages of it.

I have five tier Xs actually. And while I think it would need a great amount of revision to work with MWO the principle behind the limiting factors to the function is sound.

Alright. List these limiting factors and how the 3rd person view can be adapted to MWO.

If third person is implemented, I prolly wouldn't use it for a kinda stupid reason. Third person without MechAssault's controls would feel way too weird for me. Stupid reason, but I admit it's stupid. XD

We'd certainly have access to a lot more maps going that route. That alone could be worth it.

Ah I see I forgot the question mark on my post. Let me go fix that.
As for majority, the poll only covers the user base that actually uses the forums and decides to participate in that poll. Useful, but not entirely determinate.

Just who else would they be talking to? and we're talking 90%+ definite NO votes.

It would be actually kinda funny if this was someone like Goons dropping their emails with 10k messages that they want this just so the devs will destroy their own game.

I'm surprised nobody's blaming Kong for this at this point. Please keep in mind that while we can be...abrasive, we want this game to succeed too. There's a reason so many of us are angry right now, and why we keep pushing PGI on the hard questions.

Dude there's over 1000 "no" votes on the poll, that's a pretty significant portion of MWO's tiny userbase, we don't need 100% of the population to vote in order to know what the broad sentiment is.

There are less than 90 votes for "yes"

No, you're right, Word of Lowtax is the Goons.

Who, to be fair, can be pretty cool guys too.

And to people calling me out for brown nosing, if you honestly think posts like "The betrayal continues.....disgusting...truly disgusting." are the type of responses we need in regards to a vague twitter screenshot, then you're a very silly person.

Its ok if its there really, I only go against it because making it is a waste of resources when there are things of larger impact to handle.

Does it? LOL I thought it only showed which way you were facing, not the torso twist as well.

the CONE is the direction of your lower body (legs) and the ARROW is the direction your torso is facing, what's hard to understand?

The podcasting and fan video community have been asking for a third person match replay and as a spectate option, rather than part of regular gameplay that would add strategic advantage. I hope they go that route with it.

But we are not the decision makers at PGI are we? They call the final shot. We, the consumers decide if we continue to use their product after they do so.

My personal opinion on the matter is a bit indifferent. I will not be using it as I have sufficient grasp of the controls to play the way I want to. I can however see how it would make a great set of training wheels for new players. Considering some of the people posting in this topic have complained about how steep the learing curve is why is it that you object to what is potentially a valueable tool to soften that curve?

A third person spectate after death would be awful you ever hear of the term ghosting before?

Match replay is fine, everybody would love that forever. During-match spectating 3PV is bad due to the cheap-yet-vast intel that provides as your dead pilot uses his ghost powers to scout the entire battlefield. Before you claim that you can't do that ingame or that they can block comms, remember that there are at least ten different ways to 3rd-party that commlink.

Hey look, it's one of those rare times where MWO SHOULD crib from the WoT playbook. Offer new players a semi-scripted tutorial. Give them 500,000CB for completing it. Explain in no uncertain terms that your torso moves independently of your legs in said tutorial, amongst other things. Bam, DONE.

Much less coding-intensive, and significantly less likely to make your entire userbase march out to your offices with torches and pitchforks (though they're in Canada, so polite signage and strongly worded essays are more likely).

the game has SOOOO MUCH training wheels at this point, it's ALL training wheels.

wasn't the switch to the throttle system just yesterday all about it?
isn't LRM kind of training wheels by themselves?

coolant was going this way too until the community made a big backlash
