No, no it ******* didn't. If you're the kind of person who said "PGI overhyped this! They should've known," no, they didn't. This wasn't anywhere near 'overhype.' PGI mentioned it once on their main page and left a passive page that updated every day. They weren't shoving it down your throats, you were swallowing it whole and now you're disappointed because this "won't affect you."

There's no legitimate reason anyone should be less interested in MW:O because this controller is announced. If you're currently raging at PGI over this, I shudder to think what 'horrible flaws' and 'terrible mistakes' you'd find once the game drops. There's no two ways around it, you ARE that kind of person, and the game doesn't need you.

While it does suck that it's only a concept controller, PGI is reaching out to a portion of their fanbase without hurting others, and collaborating with a well-known company in the process. Good on them.

If you really want to rage about a game company, go play EA games.

+1000 internets for you my friend.. !

Wasn't everyone screaming for PGI to create a MWO branded line of products and controllers.. only a few weeks/months ago..?

Doesn't anyone remember when Bryan tweeted about a custom controller in the works every freaked out and wanted more info..?

How else release BIG Information like this, then with a splashy reveal at E3..?

I mean really come on..

I bought my X52 to be ready for Beta, since PGI didnt seem to have anything planned Controller wise.

Not to rain on your parade, but an X52 is the Honda Civic of HOTAS controllers - cheap as chips and that's about it. It's literally the bottom end of HOTAS controllers. This setup is going to cost upwards of $300 just because of the screen, so the $60 or whatever you dropped on the X52 is nothing.

"All we get is this?" are you people mad?

This. Is. Huge.

How many other games get specific controllers designed for them, beyond taking a standard controller, painting it with camo colours and splashing CoD logos or whatever?

So you don't want one. Fine. No one says you need one. you claim it's over hyped? not really, you/we over-hyped that all on our own. PGI largely left us too it. you don't like it? fine. you think it's too expensive? whilst I have no doubt it'll cost a few bucks, lets wait 'till we get a price point before we start ******** about how it's too expensive, shall we?

honestly. why can't the people, like me, who want a controller, who think that physical interaction with a simulator is important, get something? I cannot believe for one second that PGI thought that everyone, even the majority, would want one. So lets let people who want and are excited by this some time to enjoy themselves.

I don't get why anyone's complaining. After all, if you don't want it you could just stick with your mouse/keyboard setup. I would probably get it, but I've never played on a joystick before and will likely do terrible if I do .

I find it nice that they were able to partner up with such a big company; it bodes well for the game's future!

It's interesting, but many many people will not want, need, or be able to afford it; the large scope of the countdown led people to believe there would be something announced for everyone, not just the 1%

1) This wasn't overhyped. The community on these forums overhyped it.

FWIW, that's pretty much how it was designed to work. In this case, the lack of news feed references and stuff played into the whole ARG theme (not that it really turned out to be an ARG per se). If they'd posted daily updates about it, it would have seemed much less mysterious and intriguing.

I cant seem to get past page 2 of the comments on this thread...keep getting an error...
Oh well

Looking at the CONCEPT art for the controller (Back to the concept part of this in a moment)
What does it offer?
Let's see - a joystick - hmmm, I use a mouse, a really nice gaming mouse but i do have a joystick or 2
A keyboard controller - hmmm - again, I have a nostromo n52 - its great and works perfectly, oh and I got it it for less than 10$ from NewEgg when Nostromo introduced one with some backlighting...woohoo
Oh yeah - a display - let me see, i have 3 or 4 of those already and a vid card capable of running them easily with power to spare

So this CONCEPT controller offers nothing I dont alreay own and I am not out any more cash (and I suspect it wont be cheap)

CONCEPT Controller - remember I promised to get back to this? Well for E3 and the hype on these forums, I would have at least expected a working proto-type, even if just a rough engineering model of the controller that they are ADVERTISING.

Over all - not real impressed. Yeah, for the hardcore grognards of BT and for the pocket rich kiddies, this is a cool thing. Will it be usable for other games? We dont know yet because its a CONCEPT. If yes, then it might be worth some $, but if no, then it should be affordable. Its a nice concept toy for a new game that we know little about yet. the proof of usefulness and "coolness" is yet to be seen.

The Devs of this game are really doing a good job of marketing and gaining support (from COMPANIES) for their yet to be released product, but they need to keep in mind the end user. Sure If I were making my own game, I would want all the cool toys to make it as sim like possible, best monitor, best PC (and components), best game engine, best chair (we havent seen a MWO pilots seat yet, but it could be coming), a neuro-helmet (even if it just lit up when I flicked a switch) and a great controller (joystick set). but most importantly, I would want good competition and great game play. Those last 2 things, to me, are above all the most important 2 things. The rest is just fluff...

Speaking as someone who will never buy a custom controller (I have bills to pay, rent, utilities, student loans... I like videogames because they are a CHEAP hobby compared to many), I don't understand the nerdrage that so many people are having.

If you like it, buy it. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

I'm sorry but I'm a little peeved at a lackluster announcement that they were hyping up. No one cared about the swtor razer crap, what made them think was any better.

- The hype machine they built around this thing does not, and I mean DOES NOT fit the revealing. This jostick/gamepad/moniter is a damned gimmick, a concept gimmick at that.
- they should have just come out and announced it.
- this peripheral only caters to a small group of people that don't already a joystick/keyboard/game-pad combo,
- People with large desks are the only ones going to benefit from this razer product.

I'm sorry but the only thing worthy of a count down timer that would get the community excited should be something we can all look forward to like whats going to be featured in the game whether its the official announcement of the clans, more mechs, features or other things that everyone would be able to enjoy.

I understand that you have a marketing department that had a great way to generate a following to the Artemis system leading to the razor product but i think that they need to realize what the hell their selling and keep it *** **** relative so there wasn't such a huge let down.

Huge let down.

All I can say is I must have one. Stop crying about the price, you don't even know the cost yet.

It's true that we don't know it (the price), but have you ever checked Razer product's prices ?
http://store.razerzo...DisplayHomePage
It will give you an idea (decent mouses for 60-130$, keyboards for 100-200$ and not the top ones). Add to that at least 100 bucks for the screen, see the price point now ?

Well, they had to drop a ball at some point. I'm certainly never getting the thing. Keyboard and mouse forever.

Also, since when does Razer have a reputation / experience in the field of joysticks? I thought they just did mice and keyboards.

You seem to be mistaking disappointment and disinterest for entitlement.

e: To clarify, I certainly wouldn't say we were "owed" anything, but they did go to a lot of trouble to get everyone ramped up. It's incumbent on them to make sure the payoff is commensurate with the buildup.

Sorry, I disagree. I think you're mistaken.

Other people being disappointed does not preclude you being excited. I also don't see many (any?) complaints about the fact that the controller is getting made, just that this little marketing exercise was misguided.

I like the screen if anything else. Maybe you can swap out the default joysticks? If so I'll probably get a X52 Pro to go with this and some rudders. But until I get some money, I'm sticking (read: stuck) with a keyboard/mouse.

I think it does... is it just left of the screen? Between the keypad and the screen?

Im not realy sure what your trying to say but 1st its an X52 Pro, its listed at around 160$. I got it for 80$ so I am far from disapointed...
AND its gonna be perfect for my MWO gaming needs.

I might have considered getting the Artemis Controller INSTEAD of my X52 Pro if it had been mentioned the project was on the drawing board BEFORE Beta started, thats what I was saying.
