Has there ever been an ETA for UI 2.0?

One thing I want to see in UI 2.0 is a compiling and calculating function before buying/selling with MC/C-bill purchases. Let's say you have a wealthy amount of MC and you want to buy more than one object. You would click on the stuff you want and the price goes up do to the multiple items you have. I have 8,400 MC and want to buy an X5 and a Death's Knell for example, this is the kind of info it would give.

Current Balance:8,400 MC

X5: 3000 MC

- Death's Knell:1,875 MC

Total Amount:3,525 MC

With information like this in the "Store" section of the game, it could be pretty useful for players who want to spend wisely.

Internal testing starts in late July. Public test mid to late August. Live late Summer.

I expect a public test any day and UI2.0 by Launch if this ETA update is still valid...but it would be helpful to have more frequent communication with the community to set expectations rather than leaving us hanging then push out the schedule when expectations are that a feature should patch out. I know...call me crazy...

I have an opinion concerning the mech bay. First of all, players should be able to move their mechs around to make them more organized. Second, the tabs for organizing mechs should be: Featured mechs for sale, Trial mechs, All owned mechs, then more tabs that the player can create and put what mechs they want in them (examples: Assault mechs, Heavy mechs, Medium mechs, Light mechs, Brawler mechs, Sniper mechs, Missile boats, Favorite mechs, Hero mechs, etc...). I don't think featured mechs for sale should be listed with mechs the player owns and mech organization shouldn't be limited to weight class. As for the weapon type colors, I think energy should be blue, ballistic should be yellow, and missile should be red. Maybe support equipment should be green (AMS, ECM, etc).

Hello PGI.
Sorry my bad english. don't have a lot of practice.
I want to tell that will be very nice if player can load weapon in that hardpoint what he want.
For example, HGN 733C for now with 2 missiles hardpoints (10 and 1 rocket tubes) at the left torso. I want to load srm6 and srm2 and I want to launch 6 missiles from srm6 and 1+1 from srm2 when shoting. No one loves 1+1+1+1+1+1 from srm6

Posted Image

And will be very nice if we can assign weapons for a sequence when shooting chainfire.
Example:
I have Srm6, LL, ErPPC and SRM2.
All in 1 weapon group with chainfire.
I want to shoot ErPPC at first, then SRM6, LL, SRM2.

Next good idea - possibility to assign weapon group for each hardpoint slot.
Example with HGN 733C:
Loading SRM6 in hard slot with 10missiles tube, assing this slot to 1weapon group
Loading SRM2 (1missile tube) making srm2 second weapon group.

Hope you understand me and my terrible english :D

Any word on UI2? How's development coming along? Haven't head anything official in a while, but I am very much anxious to see how this goes, since it is gating so many features.

Its a UI. Pictures and buttons. I usually tweak the ones for most games in my user files to my liking.

I just wish we had the ability to make mods for this game. Maybe 2.0. :P

It's funny; I thought about modding for a while, and came to the realization that if they let us mod, we'd have hundreds of maps, probably dozens of good ones. There would be plenty of mechs, clantech, and probably servers running custom balance mods to even out the game- these are all things that ever game with mods has.

But they can never let us mod. They chose a f2p model, for some reason, and that means they cannot allow people to make and give away content for free under any circumstances, because who would buy their stuff if they could just get something for free instead?

It's really too bad. When this game launched, and to some degree even now, the players and fans are more zealous than in almost any other game I've seen. We want to make stuff for the game. We would love to contribute our time and effort to make great things for this game, expecting nothing in return. But it can never happen, because of how PGI or IGP chose to monetize the game.

I was referring to UI mods, not new maps and things like that.

And have you worked with Cryengine? I really doubt there would be a huge influx of quality player created content. :P

I haven't had the (dis?)pleasure of working with cryengine, but while I will admit that games I've mapped for have had much bigger communities for content creation when they used easy engines like Unreal, even games with bass-ackwards engines that take forever to learn and make no sense like Natural Selection 2 tend to get quite a bit of quality content. Given how much more common Cryengine is compared to Spark, I'd guess there would be a much better knowledge base. And if you check out some of the buried subforums for user content, you'll find a half-dozen people who have made maps anyway, even though they won't work in-game and they are having a lot of trouble with the scaling.

Trust me, people really do want to do great things for this game, and if we were allowed, we'd overcome obstacles to do it.

I'm a fairly active contributor in the Fan Art section, so I'm aware of some of the map content that has been created. :P There have been a few nice ones so far. I think the biggest issue is that since there is a lack of an ability to make user created maps, a community hasn't been developed to support that. Even Star Citizen has announced that they are planning on using user created content, so the mod community there has really taken off.

PGI has stated in the past that they will probably allow that kind of stuff as well, but no promises on when since it's on the "nice to have" feature list, not anything they need to get ready for launch. Or even 2.0 at this point.

They've said they do want to add user content, but it's a very development heavy process to implement, and requires a lot of legal legwork.

They just don't have the time or manpower to do it now, and as the community likes to say - they've got many more pressing issues with the game to address first.

Will UI 2.0 give us the ability to chat with our friends which are in game or spectate our friends games?
I find it very difficult/inconvenient that i cant message my friends which are already in game as sometimes would like to ask them to join for next game/ make a new lance/ etc etc.

This would also be the ideal time to take a second look at the generic weapon slot system you have. I fully support how you envision mech battles, but your slot system is the root cause of why they don't go as you want. Also, your bandaids to try and fix that are complicated and not intuitive for new users. With the UI2.0, why not also look into adding critical space limitations for each weapons slot. This will curb boating and all the pin point damage that is the current issue. It will also help you continue to sell mechs. I have seen a few comments from people that they will not be getting your new pack (griffin, wolverine) because they have identical load outs to mechs they already own, so there is no point in getting them. That is where I currently sit too... the mechs are too generic and customizing them is actually boring because you don't need to get creative with the loadouts. Everything fits everywhere for the most part....

The silent majority decided they didn't want UI 2.0 so PGI is altering the deal and they are pleased that the deletion of UI2.0 as it makes their target demographic happy.

Well, considering how they lied about coolant flush and 3rdpv, this is believable.

What about an option to customise the chain-fire feature from mechbay. Things like: How many weapons fire at a time, how quickly it cycles weapons, etc. Like an ingame macro builder. Because a mechwarrior WOULD customise these features to his fighting style, and if the 'tech's can squeeze a faster fire rate out of the mech, (through the pilot efficiencies), then they can modify the fire order and timing.

You can SAY a lot of things. Seems strange that other titles dont have the same problems that PGI is claiming.
