Agreed, disclaimer section particularly so. I wonder what the actual metric of new players running the RHOD is; 1% of new players? 2%? Do you see my point yet, or must I do the broken record thing again? I still see no sign of these supposed facts and numbers you're apparently drawing on, not in this thread, or the one you just linked, or anywhere on the RHOD page or any other MWO competitive resource...

I am quoting a great jenner pilot who has stats comparable and better than my spider5d:

MavRCK's SPIDER SDR-5D 162 103 57 1.81 187 55 3.40 41,772 114,048 17:28:56

Mfmadiuvo: JENNER JR7-F 390 236 154 1.53 630 172 3.66 140,965 322,618 1 day 13:08:49
» 390 236 154 1.53 630 172 3.66 140,965 322,618
» thanks man
» yeah i've been playing a bit haha
» thankfully closed beta isn't in there, otherwise it would be really bad
» i think i'd be over 1000 with cb haha
» yeah those few games were great
» i'd love an awesome! (not really)
» oh god no
» awesomes are like candy to me
» the only thing i hate dealing with are streak boats
» streak trebs i stay away from
» haha sounds good

So conclusion, Awesomes are NOT Awesome!

I call you out giganova.

What have you accomplished? What team do you belong to has done anything worthwhile? And is your neighbour a car-instructor for bmw, porsche, viper and has driven most high-performance vehicles including full-race cars, rotax max race karts until about 2011?

I call you out giganova for being nothing more than a troll founder who can't win, can't contribute anything positive and should be removed from this community.

:)

PS: giganova, since you're into spamming this forum, thank you for the bumps - you should check out fan fiction and realize, everyone of my teammates and I would enjoy crushing loudmouths like you.

FTFY - Nobody was AFK in that game; although a couple people got destroyed because they unfortunately got caught isolated and/or outside of their effective engagement ranges.

Mav! I didn't even realize you were in that game...

You probably were AFK at the beginning. I was wondering why that Quickdraw was all alone on the caldera when everybody except the Cataphract was all the way down the three line.

Anyway; the point was - pilot the mech you get the most fun out of and can best use to contribute to your team. That's going to be a different mech for everybody, depending on what you're good at and what chassis feels comfortable to you personally. Also, don't get discouraged when you get splatted - it happens to everybody, even though some admit it more readily than others.

In this particular instance, that 'sub-par' Spider gave us a big edge, because he was fast enough to identify the main body going down the three line and two isolated and unsupported heavy mechs while not getting killed doing it. The Raven ran with him and offered much needed firepower when they found the Quickdraw, enabling them to hold out until our Dragon and Catapult arrived.

My 'sub-par' Dragon may not mount PPC's or Gauss rifles, but it was fast enough to take advantage of what the Spider found. It does alright for itself, if you use it right. Some people say it's a waste of a heavy mech. I would disagree.

Some people think they're God's gift to MW:O. People who disagree with them are obviously ignorant, beneath them, etc., etc. I would take their advice with a grain of salt. I tend to deduct about 100 IQ points from anyone whose argument boils down to 'GOML.'

Having said all that, you can still sift through the attitude and deduce a few worthwhile things. Namely - PPC's are currently the FoTM, ECM is still pretty valueable, and jump jets are nice. I would agree with that...the rest is up for debate.

So what highly competitive unit were you in and what high level tournament did you play and kickass in?

:)

Sorry, but 2 or 3 data points does not constitute "the facts and numbers don't lie."

I still cannot belive that this thread is active. The opinions stated at the start are just opinion. I have seen many players do incredibly with mech NOT on that list. And with constant meta/game play changes the list is already out of date. The key to a pilots success is their ability to pilot/shoot and work well with their team.

completely off topic to the "what mech is best" discussion, but I would like to request that all future MWO epeen/how to videos not have the selfie cam running in the corner. it hides the health of the mech you have targeted. if your gonna teach new players how to effectively bring down mechs in certain situations, the players need to know any special reasons why you decided to target that specific part.

As per the reddit.com/r/mwo topic:

Quote

Hello everyone.

I am new to the game, but I loved all the old mechwarrior games. I tend to enjoy medium or heavy mechs and I am conteplating buying a hero mech.

My other post showed I was having problems purchasing MC because I live in Japan, but once those kinks get worked out, I am looking into buying a mech.

Since I am in Japan, I was thinking about getting the Yen Lo Wang. I like the size and the look and the mech seems good although lopsided on paper.

However, the reviews online (although few and far between) seem to be mediocre. Everyone says the Ilya Muromets is basically the best hero around. I can't really find anywhere that says what makes it so.

Is there a tier list or somewhere? Google searches haven't come up with much info.

Also other general beginner mech tips welcome. Like "this is how you are using LRMs wrong" etc.

Thanks guys, I am excited to join the community.

There is no hero tier list because each hero mech is ranked against other mechs in its weight group. Overall, the heavy metal has JJ and can PPC / Gauss snipe with the best of them so one can argue it is the best hero mech. The Ilya is highly ranked because it has a flexible payload but lacks JJ.

Dragons and Awesomes are not Awesome. I don't like the X-5.

Okay, I was confused. I tried the upper right on the suggestion of Lethalrose - being a NGNG vet - but he screwed me!!! That sneaky son of a... ;) <3

I haven't been at this long and made a lot of mistakes trying to adjust the sounds and cam. Let me know if further things occur and / or what you want - need changed.

Thanks!

MavRCK why are you continuing to bump this thread?

The Initial post is now grossly out of date when it was only your opinion on things in the first place. This is the new players forums and you are presenting your opinion as fact to new players who are going to get into trouble following this OP.

You have little or no supporting statements as to why you believe your list should be this way. And thus it has NO merit to new players so either step up and do a massive revamp to back up your opinion and take the criticism and debate or let this out dated and DEAD post finally die.

I don't think there is a tier, just pick what you like to play in and jump in the game with it :D

He's obviously helping heaps of new players, look how many times he's had to validate himself via Reddit. Must be nice having members of Kaos on the mod team here, eh (not hard to figure out the connections once you do 5 minutes of research)? Cyber-nepotism is alive and well.

Before BAP countered ECM, I would agree that the Cicada x-5 was bottom tier. However, that one simple change transformed it from light fodder to light hunter. I went from running away from Ravens to chasing them down. Personally, I believe it should be a tier 2 now, with only the lack of AMS/ECM keeping it from tier 1.

Also, I feel that the Blackjack 1-x and Hunchback 4p should swap places. I gladly gave up one energy point to only lose half of my weapons should a side torso go rather than the majority of them.

I see your point on the X-5.

It's just that the tier list is really for competitive 8 man tournaments...

You wouldn't take a medium mech specially to hunt lights when you can take a medium mech that can hunt heavies... You ideally want the best ton for ton mech... Any of the tier 1 mediums can do what the X-5 and more... perhaps better?
