I understand the thoughts on the X-5,being a medium and all, but I do think Jenner should maybe hop up a spot over the raven 3L. between BAP changes, and the new environment movement limitation. ive seen a lot of ravens get themselves cornered lately, where the jenners and spiders just cruise right up and over to safety. I know quite a bit of it is individual pilot experience and learning curve, but on a new player list maybe it should at least warrant a special mention.

It's just that the tier list is really for competitive 8 man tournaments...

I will concede to your point in regards to tournaments, but think that for your Overall Solo Queue Tier list (for PUGS) the Cicada should be considered a light as it is used for the same purposes in PUG matches: scouting and capping. I feel it should fall in-between the Jenner D and Jenner K. It is a great mech to cap on conquest as it can hold it's own against other lights (unless they have LRM support, hence it being below Raven 3L and the F & D Jenners).

Also, I completely agree with your general module rankings. However, it would be nice to also have module rankings for different roles: scouting, sniping, LRM support etc. For example, while for most mechs the cap accelerator is not especially useful, it is very nice to have on scouts as conquest maps can often end up very close in points.

The only module I consider a must for all roles is the Seismic Module. I agree that it is a bit too powerful in its current implementation. I know others have suggested that the lighter the mech is the closer you should have to be to it for it to appear on your minimap and I feel that would be the best possible fix.

Overall, this is a great guide that should give new players some starting guidance. Good job.

I see what you're saying about the Jenner.. it's close.. really close!!

Here's the thing..

You know when a guy is running out in the open and an enemy LRM is throwing tons of missiles at him...

How many times have you been like? Damn, dude.. .just chill out and take cover?

With ECM you can cover him...

You can protect a whole team with ECM..

I've carried games with tons of players out of position.. like last night.. when they didn't even realize they were out of position... until they got cover...

Remember, carrying a game can be through damage, good information and protecting your team from the dumb bone-headed things they like to do..

:)

Redrumn -- good ideas on the modules.. I have some vacation coming up and time on a plane so I'll try to set up the roles then divide up the modules..

So far, I've found the list pretty uniform... the only thing I do different in my spider is using target information gathering because I want know to focus fire .. ie kill an xl engine.

Thanks guys. <3 <3

I will look at it for tomorrow's list.

There will be a delay because I have promise someone a date and I have to work in the evening...

I have a video to post soon.. streaming Commando 2d ownage tonight... just to show how a Commando can carry a game...

Of course, you need a sexy haircut (or lack thereof) like mine too!

Wow, Your Tier 1 groups looks about right but I disagree with most of your T2 and T3 across the board. I think you might be revisiting this thread in the near future. I play only AS7, AWS, CN9, CPTL and SDR. Different play styles and different roles and loadout are major factors. My AWS-8R is probably my best all-round mech because it addresses most situations.

EDIT: You could set class categories, like Brawler, Sniper, Light Hunter, etc and put each chassis in the right place with a particular loadout. I think that would be more appropriate and better inf for new players or those wanting to be more competitive.

Good job starting this tho...

The thing about tier 2 - 3 -- it's really hard for me to say which is which.. because... in competition you'd take mostly tier 1... in my videos it goes over this.. many details can be learned by watching them! :)

One hour of Commando 2d:

COMMANDO COM-2D 9 8 1 8.00 17 4 4.25 2,224 7,207
00:55:37

This video shows why ECM is so powerful and why the Jenner isn't the top of the tier 1 mechs:

Check out when I cover 3 jenners from LRMs.... I think it's pretty obvious why ECM mechs are so valuable.

inb4 Mav dodges the burden of proof again. ("When debating any issue, there is an implicit burden of proof on the person asserting a claim. "If this responsibility or burden of proof is shifted to a critic, the fallacy of appealing to ignorance is committed". This burden does not necessarily require a mathematical or strictly logical proof, although many strong arguments do rise to this level (such as in logical syllogisms). Rather, the evidential standard required for a given claim is determined by convention or community standards, with regard to the context of the claim in question.")

Wait, scratch that, too late...

Hey, MavRCK.

I just wanted to drop in and thank you for the videos. A lot of useful info in there. Last weeks tips on using your arms to protect yourself, and this weeks tips on how to protect your teammates from themselves with ECM in paticular. I will be working hard on these tactics in the coming weeks to improve my gameplay.

It is always very nice to have elite players create resources like this to help others. Elite players know the most about the games they play and I always make it a point to stop and listen closely to them. And PGI would do well for themselves if they did the same.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to your thoughts on the Victor in the next episode.

Keep up the good work.

Never got around to reading this thread or watching your videos, but this is good stuff. This is real, concrete information that players should pay attention to.

pretty accurate list.

Though there would be some differences for a Marik style vs RHoD based drops.

Heh, this latest video is pretty scathing (and extremely accurate and telling) of the current state of the game.

I assure you that I'm my own individual. I just happen to agree with Mav's views and opinions, because the concerns he's voicing are the same that are echoed among many veteran groups, including my own -- WoL.

This is the link to the speed vs payload - a very good reference - this is key to understanding the details of the differences between mechs and the different chassis variations:

Hey, I haven't had a lot of time to play since the Quickdraw came out, so I'm wondering what made/makes it T1. Is it the JJ+PPC? Thanks!

That's basically it. It's a fast mech that's maneuverable and can field multiple PPCs in relatively the same area on its body.
