Raven or Archer any day over a Assault mech, or better still a LAM :)

You can have your raven and a buddy in an Archer. I'd still destroy you in any assault mech - you decide which.

I really don't know why, but I'd take a Warhammer over an Atlas any day.

Give me a jump capable Couger with a clan er large laser, clan lrm 5, and clan ultra ac 5. I will kill the atlas. Innersphere cannot stack up against clan tech.

I'll take a dragon.

I can stick and move vs the assualts and either act as a spotter of help with the lrm rain of death.

Clanner, i'd settle for a Cauldron Born (65 tons)?

IS, I'd go for a Bushwacker

However, not given any restrictions on mech selection, I'd either take a Madcat MKII, or a Madcat. My 2nd best choice would be a Thanatos

Now it's not to say there will not be pilots out there who CHOOSE Assaults and are darn good in them, but aside from those few, it was always easy to spot the new players who chose the Assaults just due to their loadout and armor ability, but ended up dying repeatedly because they didn't know hot to utilize the Mech. This is tactical warfare, afterall, no? :)

For me, the Heavies do it. Better mobility than an Assault, with decent punch, but a small sacrifice to armor. The Timber Wolf has been a personal favorite of mine due to his excellent loadout capabilities. I can save multiple role variants and play to the style needed.

This man has it right.

For myself, i am always in a light or medium fast moving mech poking you with lazers or LRMs unless, I know and can count on the team.

When you have a great lance and you know they will keep your back clear, nothing and i mean NOTHING beats an assault mech fitted with nothing but PPCs. So what if i only get to fire once every 15 seconds or so, i get to down a mech with every single blast (except for those stupid fast light mechs that you need buddies to hit for you)

As luck would have it I'm taking next week off in anticipation of the snow party we expect to blow through these parts. Now how to get north of the 7 (locals will know what that means) to sunny Hudson Bay? Snowmobile or dog sled? hmm.... Snowcat?

:)

Definetly Light/Med. Mech here... though its hard for me to make a choice since most of my favorite light mechs are post 3055 ( Scarabus, Toro, Howler, Bear Cub ) I suppose I would go with a Raven or Locust.

I like to hit'n'run, but hit pretty hard. So I'm down with medium mechs.

Light mechs all day e'ery, nothing beats shooting people in the back because you've hurtled past them at 120km/h.

but as i was saying: medium mechs; Actic Wolf has a speed of 119km/h, and is a medium, while packing a full hot load of SRMs

There's a few mediums that fit the bill, true, but in general lights are my thing.

Assaults were always too slow ... unless Death From Above is a viable offensive tactic ..... maybe a Highlander.

I'm all in favor of fast-movers. In the board game Wraith, Blitzkriegs, Legionaires----snicker. Mediums with a big punch.

Timberwolf/Madcat was always my favorite, I loved the default loadout for it. The only thing I used to change was the way weapons were chained... that said a mark 2 with nothing but lbxs is hard to argue with up close xP

It depends. I've always been a fan of the Clan Assaults - Dashi, Blood Asp, Stone Rhino, etc. Those things were tough, and just as mobile as some Heavy Mechs. The Mad Cat mk. II, on the other hand, not so much. As such, if they added any of those mechs, then I'd be a Blood Asp jockey, full Clan tech, everything.

However, failing that, I'm more of a Medium-Heavy pilot. Raven was only ever good for CTF - take out all the weapons, pack it with armor and engine upgrades, and you outrun everything. Outside of that, Raven was horrible. In a light mech, I'd prefer to see Razorback or Cougar, Medium mech, Bushwacker or Uziel, and Heavies, has to be either a Mad Cat or a Zeus.
