You guys would be surprised, I've actually gotten a sunder to pull some pretty sweet moves, though since this is 3050, it's not out yet so, most assaults now would be the slow, ponderous mechs you guys are categorizing them into. The only assault I'd probably use is a second line support mech, like the archer, or longbow

The Urban landscape provides a great place for scout mechs to run in circles around an assault mech and takeout all the critical systems. Back on gamestorm good light mech pilots would wreck an assault mech by just running behind it's back and using jump jets in an open area. Imagine what could be done when you have huge buildings for shields.

Most of the powerful mechs from MW4M were in the Heavy Category.

Maybe the shadowcat was really tough too..

Though I will say _8221 has a point, finally getting the drop on that Annihilator that has been pestering you while you were scouting, and killing that ****, does feel great.

Dude the shadow cat was a beast in the right hands, back in the league I used to play in, there was this guy in Jade Falcon, I don't know how, but he took on a whole medium lance by himself, and won, with room to spare, maybe it was just the pilot, but the shadow cat I think has always been a force to be reckoned with

I'll drive whatever I can to help my team win.

Give me a weight class, and I'll make it work. Assign me a role, and I will complete my task.

To crush your enemies, lamentations of the women, all that jazz. I don't care WHAT chassis it is. Even up, I'll beat my opponent.

I was always a big fan of the Catapults with Jump Jets, 2 LRM15s and 4 Med Lasers for up close pop when needed. As with everything, it will depend on the environment. Assaults are nice and all, but they aren't gods, and it's not always about 1 on 1 combat in the field either.

I'm okay with Jenners. Extra okay with Jenners. Also, Hussars.

I'm more okay with light mechs with long-distance weapons as opposed to assault mechs. I prefer the mobility to the firepower.

Yes, I want to play an Ostroc, so I can paint it white with yellow legs and name it...

I use mediums a lot, in the board game, it all depends on the situation, unless you are a Steiner you are not going to do recon with an assault mech, and in varied terrain, with buildings, trees, hills, Assault Mech move too slow to get a good position, a faster mech will always be able to line that shot in the back up, and a Jenner with a bunch of Medium Lasers will make short work of rear armor.

I hate the assult mechs. I love the idea of an Atlas, but give me a medium mech to get in and out with. Vultures are my favorites.

I like switching it up between a heavy and a light anklebiter from time to time. Just makes life more interesting that way!

Post-Invasion, when things like the Bushwhacker come online, I'm absolutely a medium 'Mech kinda guy. Frankly, I hate the fatties. Too slow even when they're not too slow, and they draw fire like a Krispy Kreme draws off-duty cops. Even heavies tend to be a bit too much - get over the 65-ton mark and you tend to be too big for your own good. Unless you're a Timber Wolf, but we aren't going to get those for a while. Probably for the best, considering how bugnuts-crazy they are.

Nah...a nice, low-profile medium with a large laser and engine upgrades'll do all the work you ever ask it to. Hell, the 'Whacker doesn't even necessarily need the engine upgrades. Does need the machine guns yanked given a lack of infantry in this game, alongside whatever else I need in order to stuff some ECM in there, but that being done, I'll take a medium-weight scout-skirmisher any day of the week. I'll even trade you my salvaged Timber Wolf for the Bushwhacker and all the C-bills I'm going to need to make it awesome.

Pre-Invasion? Lights. Pre-Invasion mediums weren't worth the metal they were made of. Slower than heavies half the time and less well-armed than the top tier lights. Urgh.

I've always preferred 60-tonners, myself. Just enough mass to make a well-rounded OR well-focused design, with enough staying power to make sure you can do something with it but not a nigh-invulnerable colossus that can just stomp through the fight with several dumptrucks-worth of guns to obliterate anything that gets in the way.

The Vulture/Mad Dog is my all-time favorite.

I would take a Heavy over an Assault any day.

I used to have a Thor that went a hundred and 4. I would load 7 LRM10 and go to that city map in MW3 and....
