  • `Mech of the Month - Quickdraw (18th)

Say whaaa???

Company and Lance Improvements

Further lance improvements make their way into the game this month. These adjustments are based of internal testing and player feedback. These new adjustments include text and audio queues when new orders are issued, Company and Lance Commander icons to identify leadership, revised chat color, and revised order icons for more clarity. If you haven’t tried out your leadership skills yet, have a go! Players can take command by pushing “B” for BattleGrid and taking either a Lance Command (4 players) or a Company Command (8 players).

How about simple COLOR CODED KILL-DEATH MESSAGES?

Balancing and Tuning

LRMs, SRMs, and Flamers will receive tuning passes in the first patch of this month. For mid-June expect to see more tweaks to the UAV consumable, and Seismic Sensors. Jump Jets will receive a weight based shake to add a more realistic feel and help to balance out some of the jump sniping meta game. Caustic Valley gets a lighting adjustment for the mid-June patch Expect to see more details about upcoming adjustments in the Command Chair section.

Considering the first 3 things listed are crap... you need to work better at it.

Looking Forward
  • 12 v 12 is due out for first patch in July.
  • Training Grounds (tutorial) will make it's way live mid-July to early August.
  • Third Person view will be pushed to test servers in the next 30-60 days.

1) Finally? At this rate, you'll push it back further.

2) Finally, a tutorial. It might be too late...

3) DANGER: THIRD RAIL AHOY

aright, to everyone crying over the Orion, stop being spoiled brats. It's just another set of hardpoints on a 70 tons mech, it's not like it's gonna change the entire game. Just be patient and enjoy what we currently have. Hell, when I joined the beta we only the hunchy, the jennah, the fatlas and the cat and we were happy.

Kids these days...

Orion is 75 tons, just to let you know.

It's a tonnage interval that we don't yet have. It's the heaviest a heavy can get before becoming an assault. Also, it's going to have a very well-balanced hardpoint layout (energy, ballistic, missile), effectively making it into a "poor man's Atlas."

Smedley strikes again. Despite people not wanting it you are going ahead with it. What I want to know is what was the ratio of people wanting it to people that dont want it.

it's probably a possible amount of new players this feature might attract.

Worst case scenario, 3rd person is in and attracts no new players.

If it can be abused to gain an advantage, you can be sure all the current crybabies who are against it will use it...

Cmon what happened with the 60ish days for 12v12... it just got 90ish... if everything is pushed half the amount, no way you're gonna launch in time.

If it's so easy to code it, then why don't you do it? I'd rather it comes out working than it comes out the initial time and is full of bugs. (Then people like you would QQ about that also) I'm always ready to complain about something I don't like in the game (or any game) but really, coding isn't like driving from point a to point b...there can be stops and turns and so forth, you rush coding and you eff it up.

the level of complaining in this thread is astounding.

Im not a fan of 3rd person, but from previous posts Im withhold judgment.
I could care less about the Orion. It might turn out to be a decent 75 ton missile boat, but I can wait. (maybe it's going to come out with the IIc clan version?)The quickdraw doesn't look very interesting, although a jumping 60 tonner might work out.

Now lets talk about the good

Public test servers: HUGE. This will give us the ability to really beta test for the first time since closed beta. Im hoping we can convince PGI to move up the tweaks to weapons through testing on the public test servers.
UI 2.0/lobby Great news, if not unexpected
12v12: Something we have wanted forever
JJ shake: Time will tell but it is a good start for minimizing poptarts
LRM and SRM tweaks: More effort is appreciated.
HSR missiles: great for SRM's
Bug fixes: working on stability is NEVER a bad thing.

Even if you were a HUGE fan of the orion (not sure why you would be TBH), and 3rd person is evil (which is might be, withholding judgment) this is still going to be a great month.

Well PGI

Kudos on actually keeping a secret from us.

Nice to see that you are moving forward with bug fixes and balance. Please don't overnerf cockpit shake so that JJ are completely useless, just make it an actual challenge (love using my JJ on my Cat to get those LRMs over the ridge)

And thanks for the Sarah 'mech.

Just one thing yes Quickdraw has multiple varients but they all still have mostly the same loadouts (unless rear pointing weapons are in our future!!) and we don't have C3 or OS launchers (please no... unless consumables with small tonnage?)

Anywho keep up the good work

No mistake. We just haven't shown you the art yet. ;)

Then show us, if you're making in and putting it in the game. Your bound to have it laying around. :D

I was thinking about editing the comment to not seem like a QQ, but I took my chances.

Don't get me wrong, let it be ready when its done, make the game perfect for launch, whenever its finished, because most players only give one chance per game. That is one thing.

The other thing is to make promises, set dates, and not keep it. There's no question it would of been a better outcome for us players if he didn't give a date at all.

My issue is in May they said June 18th was the date the Orion was to be released. Even had the artwork and thread out there for it. Only to announce today that it isn't going to be released for another 4-5 months. If they are going to start doing that I'd rather not know the mech at all until they announce it before the patch that is introducing it.

Learn to respect your elders, boy.

I've I have learned anything about development....

When you ask the code monkeys how long it will take... they always say 90 days. Doesn't matter if its done in a week or a year, its always 90 days.

So I kind of expect delays, because on their end there is no way you can really anticipate all the bugs after you compile.

Personally I just really want drop weights and overall drop tonnages. Feels a lot like Heavy/Assault mechs online.

What the heck? Isn't it supposed to be the Orion?

I know right. I am kinda disappointed as well. Also, another fast jump jetting mech. Nothing wrong with the Quickdraw. It's a mech that's popular in BT univers and has been in a few books and scenarios, but I was really looking forward to the Orion.

I'd say RIP dragon, buy with big side torsos no xl. So design will matter a lot. Still, this may render the dragon obsolete.

Kind of like a 55 tn mech with good hitboxes would potentially make all other 50 ton and 45 ton mediums useless... which is why I'm torn on 55 tonners. I want btter mediums to fight heavies, but I have 7 elited (3 mastered) mediums I like :-).

Was really really looking forward to the orion. Finally a heavy main battlemech! (I expect orion to obsolete non jumping cataphracts, which I don't like right now anyways, thus the hypocracy).

All this aside, I prefer more information to less, so I'm not asking (please don't) for them to not tell us. And this is a Three week warning. So it's fine. Orion was planned, last minute change pushed it back, it happens. Now I can buy those modules I put on hold fr the orion.

Also: weight limits in 8 man would make me happy! And make this quickdraw have a point :-). Also, cange the weight limit every 2-4 weeks to shake up the meta, that would be awesome. (Unlike 4 man, weight maxes don't affect queue times, because all 8 man's would meet the criteria). But obviously this neds a better launch lobby first (UI 2.0).

And you call yourself a Clanner? There is a reason Timber Wolf was made at 75 tons.

It is de-facto the best weight you can have on a mech, period. The best blend of speed, armor and arament as perfectly demonstrated by the aforementioned mech. Comparing it to a lackluster 3025-er... I think anyone would take Orion instead.

I know I don't want third person but it has been mentioned before as a requirement for partners outside of the US/Canada.

A 12 V 12 all using "Sarah" mechs. :) Dedicate the game to her memory and record it.
