Never been keen on poptarting, but this shaking nerf went bit too far. Combined screen- and reticuleshake causes physical illness after few matches, even when I use JJs only for ease of traveling.
And my Spidey became POS 'cause I cannot anymore shoot accurately from air, biggest funfactor in whole mech got ruined.

Heavy poptarts were the problem, not Jenners, Ravens or Spideys. Limit the shaking effect to heavier class JJs.
I guessed weeks ago that this FU will happen, but hoped for the best.

Unlike 3rd person (which will come anyways), there was no specific discussion on how this would be implemented.

Well, now we know what happens when these things are never fully fleshed out.

It’s all very clever for customer service reps to say smart things like ‘don’t press space then’ but the simple fact is a big change has been consciously made to the game that has caused this. A change has been made that will affect peoples ability to enjoy the game. This will further narrow the audience and, as a big fan of the game to date, I can only see this as a bad thing.

It's actually insulting to our intelligence, and inexcusable (heck, there's no actual apology yet). I don't think this will change, given the responses.

Well there's your problem right there...you think lights are supposed to brawl...

Poor choice of words on my part.

This still limits Jenner's effectiveness overall none the less. Not all lights fill the same role. A Raven is pretty much supposed to be a dedicated scout. The Jenner on the other hand is a guerrilla style fighter. That's what it's designed to be.

You obviously have not met good light pilots... They do not circle strafe at all. You can not predict their next move while constantly taking hits from their ML wether they are in air or ground or behind cover!

i murder the dumb light pilots in my atlas. all you have to do is hit reverse and turn the opposite direction, then you get to line up your next shot perfectly with almost no effort.

Exactly that, remove this new feature for light mechs, my spider only does 19 damage with laser weaponry and dont tell me that poptart lights will then rule cus ppc lights will just get eaten by the other lights with lasers/ssrms/srms.

PPC != poptart

i use an ERPPC on my jenner specifically because it doesn't have the minimum range and i like being able to plant 10 points of damage on one location. i will take pot shots at range but the majority of my fighting happens within 100m where my small lasers and 142kph actually matter.

i like the shake (although i think they need to do something about the visual effects) and have no issues hitting with my ERPPC while jumping.

I know...and I don't have a problem with the shake in my jenner.

Yeah, maybe they should have tested it out for a couple of months so ppl can whine about poptarts moar and trash PGI moar. They fix something you still trash PGI. They instantly notice a problem (Paul's post) you continue to trash PGI. I dunno, sometimes this is just ridiculous on the player part.

Rushed, half-assed and badly balanced.

Simulation sickness( a form of motion sickness) is acording to studies a problem for about 50% of testsubjects under "normal" circumstances and that includes Fighterpilots as well as gamers. Under extreme circumstances EVERYONE(100%) can be made to feel the effects.

Furthermore motionsickness related problems are actually thought to a defense mechanisem of your body against certain types of venom. So you might want to check your doctor if you never had them.

There are basically two problems with the current shake:
a) the whole screen shakes randomly (instead of the mech itself only) so there is no fixpoint you can focus on (motionsickness is normally countered by looking at somethin far away like the horison since it gives a fixpoint)
b ) completely random and wild movement of the natural fixpoint in a shooter : the reticle

These two have to go immediately out of health reasons.

Though I personally think it stupid to have it while jumpjetting only and not while moving fast or over rough terrain or being overly heated you could keep the thrown off aim ( maybe indicated by a smoothly widened reticule as most shooters do it) to prevent effective aiming. It does not really address poptarting and will still **** of light and medium pilots but at least I would make the game playable again.

Remember ECM? So much discussion. So much ignored. It's still kinda broken, but not in the same way as it was in the beginning. We're at the same point with Seismic, but they do have 2 weeks to change our minds.

So, unless they "got it right" from the start, it's kinda all downhill from there. It's almost as if internally they don't have someone to even counter the notion that the idea was bad... just for the sake of making sure all bases are covered. Building a foundation of "yes men" is the downfall of a company.

PGI, I dont make a point of posting on the forums much, i really couldnt be bothered complaining about things that bug me when im still enjoying the game enough to play.

With that in mind, i feel the need to tell you, how very satisfied i am with this recent patch.

For the first time, in a long list of patches, before open beta infact, i now feel like you have made a decision that truly is best for the community, and the game as a whole.

bravo.

Now if only you would respect the BT heritage a little better perhapse we would have even less issues, but i digress.

again good job.

ok first i have to say that so far i have rarely had an issue with a new "balancing fix". i could always work around it. i've been playing my Jenner pretty heavy for the last couple weeks, mastering the art of being the flying **** that infuriates people was something i was working at. high speed jumping turning and shooting and hitting well took a bit to get good at. jump jet shots like that require some skill to do effectively and this new shaking stuff negates that and adds in randomness that no amount of skill can overcome. really you can't fully compensate for random effects.

mind you i can still play a pretty good Jenner despite the fix, but i am feeling like i have one arm tied behind my back here. and yes i am one of the people that is getting a headache from the shakes, both due to trying my hardest to look "past" the target shake and the frustration of the prior reason.

i liked my Jenner cause it was "fun" and this fix turned it into "work".

edit* on a side note what is wrong with the T word? i didn't use the S word because it's bad and wouldn't have fit the description. so i guess the "flying dried lump of human or animal droppings" would fit better ;)

I guess in 3050 there are no computers to adjust for shake like we have in Cannon binoculars NOW. How about making the stability system an inherent component to the mech, a damageable component say built into the mech's head. When damaged the stability component should result in steadily worse aiming for ALL mechs. That way you're not just picking on the jump-jetting mechs. Such a damaged component would make aiming while walking or jump jetting harder...

Needs work guys.

This is a good idea. When piloting an 75 tonn mech your head would shake even when walking right?
I dont have a jumper, but watched a match yesterday after i died. I was with someone in a Spider and OMG shake it baby.
It felt like pilot would fallout his seat actualy.
I can understand why people complain about it. And as a brawler 1 thing to add - learn to hide from snipers! Or next thing we get is that ER-PPCs will make your mech shake just because you have it on your mech ;)

Atleast they try, respect 4 that. Dunno if they are in such hurry, or what is the reason, that this kind of "half-baked" oversolutions come out.

Seriously, if they got rid of the camera shake, they could make the reticle bounce around like Tom Cruise on Oprah's couch and I'd be totally fine with it. It could make it really hard to hit targets while in mid-jump (nerfing poptarts so, win), while letting those of us who are having such a severe reaction to the camera shake continue to play the game in the mechs we all enjoy (so double win).

I don't mind not being able to hit targets while jumping...I do mind not being able to jump at all without feeling like I'm about to reenact a scene from The Exorcist...

At the very least could the screen shake part of all this be a toggle? Something, anything, I just want to soar in my Spider again. Until then, I'm a panda and my name is sadness...

Yeah I remember. I was one of those who didn't really have that much problem with it. OP for tonnage, yes, but could easily countered by TAG (D-DC). 3L had lag shield that was OP, lol. What would have been sufficient would be buffs to TAG and NARC beacons. Because of that discussion we now have stupid hard counter for ECM, nerfed missiles and a high alpha meta. Little to none value at ECM (excluding scouts). So grats for the accomplishment. But this is way too much OT.

Well, they were thorough. I'll give them credit for that. Unfortunately "thorough" didn't anticipate reality. I mean, they have been actually attempting to help the colorblind (although, not well enough yet because of not being able to customize the HUD colors).. so you would think "some consideration" would have been applied here.

I'll have to say, camera shake has turned this game into a playable game again. Well done who ever in PGI had this ideia, you need a raise. And a promotion. And paid vacations. No, seriously.

screenshake and cross-hair shake + random shots is overkill. its like what you have done to lrms and ppc. lets see what the adjustments and hotfixes will bring.

btw can you do something against boating finally?

remember. youre not only taking away the poptart mechanic you negate every advantage of jumjet mechs.
if jumpjets dont have to bring advantages . dont implement them

Jump jets were the only thing that made any Blackjack builds other than the 1x useful. You give up 25km/h for jumpjets! Sadly that is the series of mech I am leveling up now, and I already elited the 1x ( since its the best one ), but now I have to struggle through two crap mechs that depend on jumpjets... without jumpjets!

Assault brawlers, answer this. My BJ-3 is now completely useless. Hell, any medium and light mech with jumpjets is now useless and causes motion sickness. Do you want to play 8x8 ATLUS brawls only? Then say that with a straight face.
