I discussed the current problems of weapon balancing a lot with my corp-mates and in these forums.
I even opened a huge thread adressing those problems and how to fix em:
http://mwomercs.com/...ance-this-game/
(Unfortunatly the mods moved it to "feature suggestions", the forum which nobody cares about)

PPCs are currently by far the BEST weapon in this game and PGI's imbecile Heat-Idea will do nothing to change that.
Until yesterday I didn't own a Stalker myself, because I considered them to be too cheesy.
But I had no idea HOW broken they actually are, until I rage-bought one:

Posted Image

I mastered DRG, QKD, JM6, HGN and AS7. This Stalker has only Basics.
And my next best KD with a sufficient amount of matches is my JM6 with 2.21. (I am slightly better than that, but I dropped a lot due to the malformed packet bug until it was patched)

This game is currently a Joke. Sitting in a STK is like playing an entirely different game. It's like slaughtering puppies.

This is not about bragging. This is about how retardedly one-sided the balancing currently is and how people with "normal" layouts and Mechs are in a huge disadvantage.

And no, I am not bashing Noobs all the time. I am also getting matched against top ELO players who stream and/or won challenges in the past.

I know that 44 matches are not a HUGE amount to draw a profound conclusion, but this is at least showing a trend very clearly.

Actually it's both because the Stalker is by far the best platform for mounting PPCs.

Boating ppcs is the problem. A single ppc or even double is not the problem. We fought long and hard from cb to get the ppc where it is today - everything thats been done to it is because of our feedback.

Boating 4-6 of them is the problem as it gives a huge alpha at range. And the stalker can boat energies like no other.
Guess what are inc to address boating? The boating fixes. Funny that.

This.
Because if the PPCs weren't OP the STK wouldn't be either.

Read my Thread pls.
Boating a weapon is only OP if the weapon itself is OP.
If you boat a single kind of weapons their advantages stack, but also their disadvantages. If the weapon has not sufficient disadvantages to make up for it's gain then boating will just show this more clearly.
If I fire 4 ppcs together or 2 and 2 after a 0.5 sec delay doesn't make a huge difference, provided i have basic aiming skills.

Which brings us back down to the hard point issue. With size limits on the hardpoints, this problem would be gone all together. No need for the heat scale, or that silly heat threshold thing they want to put in.

Actually, the Stalker in general is just too damn good at boating in general (I'm not hating against boating in general, I'm just making a point about the STK specifically). The Stalker has been top tier in every meta there has ever been: the SRM meta, the various Lurmageddons, and now the PPC war.

Its small body, high-mounted weapons, large number of hardpoints, and extremely huge side torso hitboxes all stack artificial advantages in its favor.

I run a stalker with 6 MLas and 4 SRM6s, and I do alright. PPCs and hardpoints are this issue. The stalker is just caught in the crossfire. It is also an amazing LRM boat. 80lrm stalker anyone? Once again, hardpoints allow it.

You never meet a good LL stalker pilot. They're just as deadly that can fire more.

PPCs of themselves aren't a problem. Boating them is.

Most people just don't know that if they attack a stalker head on, which is its strongest part, the result is quite bad.

Yes, uou understand the problem. Boating and hardpoints is the issue.

People calling for weapon nerfs fail to understand there are lots of smaller mechs that rely on hat weapon as well - or they fail to see the real issues.

Who agrees the ppc on a hunchback is op, or a spider?

The PPC Raven is clearly the most OP of them all.

I think that you should not be able to fit a ppc on most light mechs. Thats just me, the weapon should be too big for the hardpoints.

Haha, how stupid of PGI not to listen to your idea's blindly.

Oh by the way, what were the other successful AAA rated games you developed again?

I honestly think that a nice artificial way to buff lights and mediums would be to give them very lenient hardpoint sizes (lots of space to spare, allow for things like PPC Spiders) while being much more strict on heavies and assaults (only slightly more hardpoint size than what their stock loadout comes with). Might not be realistic, but I just want an excuse to mount 4+ Machine Guns on my Raven's arm. :)

I don't know against which kind of people you play, but there is a thing called 'seismic' and STKs are indeed slow but not nailed to the ground.

AGAIN:
BOATING IS ONLY OP IF THE WEAPON ITSELF IS OP.
I explained that in my thread linked above.

I think in canon that's how it's meant to be, that's why we get snub nose weapons or light GR's for the lighter mechs.

Not sure what the current TT rules are now though. But it doesn't really matter as it's PGI's game.

Lore describes Stalkers leading the charge with more weapons as they close, but attacking from the side makes them useless.....
Currently I think that is how it is working out, except for the leading the charge part which might change if they do things like hard point size restriction.

The current maps do not allow much of the hitting them from the side. Why use an awesome right?

PPC on light mechs? I can think of Packhunter and Adder. Though Adder was built to be a light mech to equal Innersphere Mediums which means Clan Tech is OP anyway.....

Let PGI do what PGI wants.. They cannot please everyone....

So you think PGI does fine in terms of balancing? Like make a LPL generate more heat than a freakin PPC?
They could just have tweaked the LPL heat for their internal testing to bring it in line instead of breaking it for the whole community.
I have A LOT of gaming experience and I am pretty sure that I have a pretty good insight into basic gaming mechanics.
Just read my thread before trolling.

Did you even read the replies? Boating and weapons are two totally separate issues.

Just cos you hate one weapon and want to nerf it for everyone else doesnt make your statement correct.
