Yes, I do...all I've been seeing for months is Gauss/PPc builds, now we might see some variety!

Reducing PPC projectile speed = bad.

Having Gauss at 1500m/s and PPC at 2000 seems much more believable.

Still no 1st Person Only queue.

I gonna jump in my AC40 jager and ram my feet so deep up your butts that you wish it were just 2 PPCs. You ruin my gameplay? Ok, I'll ruin yours too. Accompanied with some serieous bitching.

In the patch notes:

Well. Happy to see the ppc projectile speed reduced. Definitely a step in right direction. Combined with the heat nerf though. Is it too much? Can't wait to try it out.

I have an RS atlas with quad PPC+Gauss. This patch gameplay nerfs certainly makes sense in the light that I killed several PGI staff recently with it. :wub:

Back then you also couldn't hit anything because of bad hit registration and lack of host state rewind for it. So they buffed the heat and speed of the projectile. Then HSR came into play and you had a ridiculous weapon. So now they're clearly hitting it on all those fronts to see if they did indeed over buff once HSR was implemented.

you are not the first Dual ac/20 Jager to cross the battlefields.

Also i'll be happy sniping your weak side torso and laugh at you when you die.

First thoughts... I am crossing my fingers that the Gauss Rifle sound effects will be updated and cool... sort of like a charge up and a thunderclap of a discharge when fired. The zero damage under 90m fix on the standard PPC is a little harsh, I could have gotten behind a tiered damage value at stages under 90m, much like they have now, but I support the heat and projectile speed changes. Step in the right direction. They still need to look at core game mechanics though.

Good to see that PGI is continuing to make sniping be as terrible as brawling, rather than make brawling better.

I won't be content until group fire is removed, random fire cone is implemented, and each player has to wait their turn to move their mech.

The community demanded a "simple" fix rather than "overly complicated fluff" for the 6 months of PPC-warrior.
Here it is finally. :wub:
Now we will have some diversity rather than only PPC/Gauss everywhere.

With these tweaks we now have a directfire medium-long range weapon (PPC), a long range sniper (Gauss) that both need more skill for short range and a All-rounder (ERPPC) that can be used in all ranges, but is limited in number and rate of fire due to the heat.
No more 3 all-round weapons. They all got their purpose now. People asked for the vision of PGI for the purpose of the weapons.
Sounds perfect imho.

Fixes for HSR and Kintaro = Great !

Adv. Zoom = Great !

Tutorial = Great !


Logged in simply to "like" this post - folks - we have been asking for these points as a general whole. Different weapons for different roles - not one size fits all! Since they cannot make minimum range hit penalties work for reg PPC then this is a fair trade off to try at least so folks have to rethink their builds. People who have a hard time with this are the min/maxers who cannot create a balanced approach and only want 1 weapon system to worry about - preferably all on Alpha.

TRY the new patch - PROVIDE REAL FEEDBACK afterwards and let the game continue to grow. This is NOT the last time they are going to tweak these weapons so settle down on the QQ!

Great patch overall.

I'm waiting to test the gauss rifle but i don't think it was needed with the tweaks on the ppc/er ppc.

So what you're saying is that a mech with 2 ballistic slots and 6 energy slots is meant to have just PPC's and Gausses. Anything else is just impossible? Like having 2 UAC5 and 4 ML for instance? Anyways I can still fit PPC's and Gausses in that Firebrand very well, just tried doing a few builds in smurfy.
