Are your standards so low that you find it acceptable for a modern day PC multiplayer FPS game to launch with only a 5 line, non-scrollable, 2-mode (global and team), chat window as its only communication tool? Really? You're going to make the argument that this game doesn't desperately need basic comm tools such as hot key messages (announcing what target you are engaging, call for help, etc) or map pinging? Screw that! PGI came up awfully short on damn near industry-standard comm tools for a product that is officially launched.

Game isn't terrible for not having music but it does immediately show that the quality of production is pretty poor. You realize that there is no audio (background music, atmospheric sounds, sound effects) at all while in mech lab. Let that sink in for a moment...there is no audio of any kind at all and this is a launch product. Not a beta, not an alpha, this is launch. Damn man, how the hell can you be okay with that?

In-match audio is not much better. We got Bitchin Betty, weapons fire, explosions, foot stomps, jump-jets. That's it. Oh wait...I forgot about the Heavy Metal's little tune that goes off everytime it makes a kill. There are no environmental sound effects of any kind. Like I said earlier, it doesn't make the game horrible but it makes it pretty obvious that the quality of production is just not there.

So do we want to go back to the constant hum that was in the mech? That dam noise gave me a headache everytime I used the lab. I prefer the quiet.
Lack of background noise that i'm going to turn off anyways doesn't show any lack of quality to me.

As it's been said alreay launch is more a bussiness side of things, not a game side of things.
Backers such as the bank which handle payroll want to see things such as launch, they want their milestones reached, if they're not reached they pull the flow of cash.

It might not be what you guys want to hear but it's the way things work.

I do not think these words mean, what you think these words mean.

friend, there are multiple forms of it, one is if someone made you upset so you wait till they are not looking and spit in their drink or something. the other is something like this, small print made to be seen, but under false pretense that its not ment to be seen. that how I took it, either way its funny to me, and one of the main reasons I went from fervent forum goer to hardly at all, al la only a glance on patch days. no reason to as the forum community is utter trash sadly. also with this response ill call it, no need to come back for at least a week

And you *were* there?

I seem to recall the MW:LL guys explaining the entire situation and there were no mentions of PGI/IGP rattling their saber or anything. Could be wrong.

Yes, I was.

With all due respect, there has never been anything passive about me, as many here will attest to.

What you see as "small print made to be seen, but under false pretense that its not ment to be seen." is in reality just the the diametric opposite of using larger print to convey volume or anger. You know, the kiddie-screaming that goes on in 3/4 of the other threads where someones favorite toy got broken and Garth ***** their poodle?

And for those with vision impairment that do not know that you can resize browser text with ctrl+mousewheel, here it is in full size:

"Or the dumbest idea yet to come from these forums.. Time will tell..."

As you can clearly see, I have absolutely nothing to hide, nor any reason to do so.

Cheers.

Theory (noun): An idea that is suggested or presented as possibly true but that is not known or proven to be true.

As I just said, I was there when MWLL was shut down. This is not a theory, as I am not guessing at what occurred. IGP/PGI was ******** about the mechlab, consistent stat tracking and some other features that were to be added, along with our indefinite project length. The aforementioned features were to be cut, and we were given a deadline, at which time all feature development was to cease; only bug fixes were to be permitted beyond that time. January 1st, 2013 was that date.

Honestly, I would not mention any of this if PGI had actually done a good job with MWO after shutting down MWLL; however, they killed the one that had promise, and upcoming features, in exchange for a poorly-managed, poorly-executed grab at our cash.

Exactly, man never landed on the moon, I was there and am not speculating at what occurred. Don't let the man stop you from spreading your tale.

Did you know they are also trying to sabotage the wikipedia page for MWO? The administrators finally had to lock it down after removing all the misinformation.

If only these same people directed their ire at their government with the same "passion" that they do to PGI ...

What the hell? Who am I kidding? These same people probably just bend over as far as the government is concerned and as such are just taking in all on PGI to compensate. :)

I have more passion for other causes. Those are mostly fights I cannot win. This likely is too, but it isn't as soul-crushing as failing to defeat poverty or war or terrorism or corporate malfeasance and greed. In fact, I'd say this fight ties into that last bit quite nicely.

As unhappy as I am with PGI, I confess you just described Battlefield 3 and 4 for the PC. (Although yes, Bf3 and Bf4 actually do have those hot key messages, but the chat system is identical).

I think PGI did a good job with MWO. We are talking about a software house that developed a few games and has a very small team. I am very impressed with the result. You should not underestimate how hard software development is in general and how much money is involved.
PGI is not Blizzard or Rockstar. Blizzards diablo 3 launchday was a nightmare compared to PGI. Still waiting on promises...
I will keep investing my money in MWO if I like the new content and people keep playing or else game over and move on…
On the end of the day it’s just a game not work!

Of course the MWLL team got told to cease and desist. They also were im sure told to give that little press release on how everything was rosy and no they were not told to cease. Then I am sure they were given papers to sign (gag order) on not to disclose the real happenings in the meeting under penalty of a lawsuit. If anyone actually believed IGP when they said they never told them to cease I have some prime beach front property in Siberia to sell.

Its not crooked it happens all the time in meetings where a company takes over a project and the other would represent a clear competition element. I personally though would love to see a transcript of the meeting though ;). PM me too.

If they did so and if they made them sign a gag order and if it would get them in legal trouble to disclose anything I don't think it is right for us to be trying to get them to breach any such contract.

But, yeah, "Dirty, money-grubbing, corporate BS."

The less evidence of the conspiracy the more clever it is. Claims of murky "gag" orders are a bonus. Internet lawyers and conspiracy theorists at their finest.
