"verbal" contract...
and those WERE promises, promising something isnt just saying "i promise..."

verbal?? what did they call you?? the only thing you signed was a EULA and a general agreement.. pretty sure if you read through them theres no clause say 'If we promise something you can hold us to our word'...

Private? Or imaginary? Post on it then, otherwise you're fibbing.

EULA is not a legal binding contract and is worth nothing...

I am pretty certain that there will be a clause along the lines of 'we reserve the right to alter, change, modify the game without your permission' as you see its their game..

Hugo you think I am wrong? You think there is an actual real live dev team working on this game?

I am sure on " Launch Day" this thread is being monitored by the people making this game.

Make us believe in you, set up a cheap webcam in your Dev studio, pan it around and show us all the dozens of happy devs toiling away on Mechwarrior ( a copy of today's paper in view for "proof of life" ) and we are all good.

Would take the Dev's 15 mins tops to do this... If they exist......

Its not about being nice.. its about growing up and accepting things are what they are.. its pretty clear PGI isnt listening.. so you're only wasting your own time here..

Imho being excellent to each other is the only thing that matters in life. Because the last shirt has no pockets. And life's too short to be angry all the time. But that's just my opinion.
Whether or not I waste my time by typing here is definitely up to me to decide, not you.

Its good to see you can make a list and check things off.. check these off

Paid for game - check
Didnt think purchase through - check
Got sucked in by microtransactions - checl
WHINES DAILY about trivial problems when the game works just fine and is quite enjoyable - check

Nice list of assumptions. All but one are wrong. That might apply to other players, sure, but apart from the initial goodwill-payment, your shots missed their mark by miles.

heres the only facts i need to bring to my argument..
FACT - there are plenty on here stupid enough to buy before they try..
FACT - they made the assumption that the game would be like previous versions, assumptions are the mother of all fuckups..

Dude, those are opinions and assumptions. Again. Just because you think you're right, doesn't mean you actualy are. How about some modesty?
I'll make a guess here: you're mid-twenty? If yes, you're in the typical age where people think they know it all. It'll pass. Just be aware of it.

As to the rest of your posting...
Telling others what to do is entitlement. Insulting others using immature or profanity terms is childish.

So who needs to grow up? Or at least heed his own advice?

no its a licensing agreement.. advising you on what you can and cant do with their game, BEFORE they take legal action... I'm quite aware what an End user licensing agreement is...

so thank you for confiming my point... We've signed no contract, they owe us nothing.. totally up to their discretion as to whether they act upon the complaints and requests..

And I dont need to prove **** to you Archio..

look you are right. your point is made. the horrible horrible truth unfortunately.

We are but PKs in a database somewhere and that is the end of it. But as I said, there were some things they said they would provide us, and not all of that is in yet. I'm not saying it is NOT going to be added mind you. But that is just cold. You know, as a human being with love for the IP and all that.

we just feel, well emotionally taken advantage of. i know it changes absolutely <<insert another colorful metaphor here>>, but are still entitled to gripe about it. I'm sure all this will sort itself out, but this 'launch' was just a checkbox for a lot of us.

In my opinion we are seeing a war between PGI and IGP.
IGP forced PGI to have a definite l(a)unch day 'cause of $$ reasons and PGI was unhappy with it, coming way to early.
But PGI decided to do as commanded, but not an ounce more.

So the differences between publisher and developer are carried out on us, the people who love the Battletech franchise.

hey mate.. the amount of hostility on here is way beyond what I bring..

You're wrong I'm mid 30's, so in actual fact I'M in the demo that will keep video games rolling, I have the disposable income, which I choose to spend wisely, which is not the impression I get about other members of this forum

My 2 facts arepretty much bang on.. there are plenty of people complaing about the money they have spent, plenty that assumed the game would be similar to previous versions..

Maybe my view of you was misplaced.. I am man enough to say that, but this doesnt help the problem we have of people with more entitlement than they are due.. Its a simple situation that the regular ADULT can quite easily handle.. I get fed up with this game sometimes..know what I dont do.. get on the forums and cry and cry and cry.. I quit the ******* game and go do something else, come back to it later when I feel like another bash..

We've been GIVEN this game free.. we can try before we buy.. I dont know about you, but I didnt buy the game and then start finding things wrong with it.. I bought it and thought, **** yeah, come october I'm gunna be rolling in my phoenix mech..

Maybe its just the day I've had listening to people cry about similar thing and I've just had enough of people with an inflated sense of entitlement..

Yeah look thats fair enough.. but the solution isnt to write the game off in 51 pages on launch day.. Give them a break.. they've worked really hard to get the game where it is.. and what do they get from their supposed 'fan' base.. mostly abuse and ridicule of their efforts.. talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth

How exactly did you spend 800? I bought everything they had, always had premium, bought every Hero, and I am at about 400? How in hell did you get to 800? I am really curious. Not that your other points are invalid, just curious about this one.

$800 is child's play, I have dropped over $2000.00....have every mech in the game mastered (97 total mechs as of today), every module, all mechs are fully loaded (at LEAST double heat sinks / Endo-Steal), all mechs are painted, etc and I didn't even get in on the founders package as I started playing the patch they took it out (but I do have Phoenix project).

Oh no, i LOVE the game. I seriously do. I play every night.

I'm not writing it off. I'm a bit peeved at some decisions that has been made, but I keep in trucking with
the rest of the fans. I've got Raven's to master, damn it -_-

And I totally would have kept my trap shut if I hadn't paid for anything, but I have, so yeah, probably a issue on my side then.
I cry because this is awesome. because i can see the potential. because i have money to throw at it

I guess I wonder, for all those who are claiming it's entitlement/whining/etc, what do you believe is a reasonable timeline, degree of patience, or waiting period for expected/stated features?

I'd have been okay with even just having role warfare available (which was meant to be a central tenant of the game) after my 2 years.

*tiny voice in the crowd*

Hey guys,

Hands up how many of you are programmers?
*hand up

Hands up how many of you own software companies or form part of the top tier management?
*Hand up

Let me tell you a little story:

2 years ago we started developing a product for a niche market we identified in the country we operate in.
The initial designs and specifications were targeted at addressing the most basic functionality only, while keeping the platform open to expansion later on.

Alpha was released in 2 months.
First version was released in 6 month's time.
Instead of running to market, we started re-evaluating the product and comparing it more aggressively to competitors.
After all, we've only covered the basics, they've got entire systems.
I got in a few specialists to advice us on the various aspects of the program.
We went back to the drawing board and starting designing our system to accommodate the recommendations.

2 years later, we're at iteration #3 - and by iteration I mean a full redo of at least 60% of the project.
We haven't launched the product. Why? Because we feel that an unfinished product is going to hurt you and your business.

In terms of "features" we've added minimal new, cool features, instead focusing more on tidying up the existing functionality and re-developing other areas for performance and scalability.

From a user's perspective, people would say, but you haven't done anything really, have you?
From the developer's side I know they've changed a lot in software, just not anything extremely flashy.

Another little story:

While working for another company, I had a big project to complete. Worked our ***** off on the project and @ 70% completion, the manager walks in and TELLS us that we should implement 5 new features.
These 5 new features do not add a lot of value to the product in general, but rather they are focused on satisfying the needs of one client.
Just one.
But this guys is going to throw a lot of money at the project and management loves money.

This put us back as we had to and redevelop major sections of the software.
The project never really made money.

What I'd like you guys to see from this is that

a) Programming is a cruel mistress -> so much goes on behind the scenes that end-users do not realize that it is often easy to criticize the time spent vs the flashy result.
 90% of the time, its not the dev's who are at fault, but rather management that messes with the project plan.
c) Releasing a product to soon can harm you in the long run.

This is what I feel PGI did wrong - beta started too soon in the dev process. Management stepped in and shifted development focus on making short term income.

Oh look, my first post? Does this make my statement invalid?
No, it just makes me quiet. And patient. I'm a founder. I've played with most of the available roster of mechs. I've invested over $100 in the game. I never complained while the game was in Beta, coz its Beta.
Its not anymore.

I'm not the White Knight in this argument, I'm sorely disappointed as I'm typing this.
I'm just a voice in the dark.

and its still early days.. name me one recent game that has been release at launch perfect.. my point may have gotten hostile, but its still stands.. Give em a chance.. the game has just come out of open beta..

Look at BF3, Starcraft 2, Cod, WoW, countless games have been released in less than perfect condition, only to be patched and somewhat rectified, on the other hand Blizzard took 10 years to release Diablo 3, people STILL complained that it wasnt perfect.. the moral of the story, perfection is unattainable these days.. someone is always going to be disjointed and get peeved about something

Thank you.

I just want to say thank you.

The truth is this game is pretty sweet and I am actually kind of upset that so many people are ranting about it. To celebrate launch day I bought a Firebrand and an Ilya Muromets and played 18 games strait last night.

Keep up the good work.
