I am also at a crossroads with this game and currently deciding, if I should invest and return to this game, or leave it completly.
Last time I invested any time/money was in the closed beta. But as the game was still "very rough" I just stopped, never looked back until now, hoping things would improve over time.
To discribe my current situation. I am heavily into MMOs. I am currently playing a lot of World of Tanks (was also in the Beta to Warplanes), I do play a lot of War Thunder (can not wait to play it on the PS4) plus have things currently running like Quest for Epic Loot, Marvel Heroes and Hearthstone (the new CCG from Blizzard).
So You do understand that my time schedule is more then full.
But the "launch" of Mechwarrior Online brought me back to have a look at this game.
Then I saw the Project Phoenix / Saber with a limited offer for Mechs that will only be available for a limited time.
And here is where I draw the line. You would discribe me as a collector. The question now for me would be, do I want to invest even more money and get the full Phoenix / Saber Mechs. Or step away completly, because I know that I would never be able to get those Hero Mechs again(including all the custom stuff).
So I took the last weeks before launch to gather some feedback and insight. I really haven´t seen anything since Closed Beta.
One very good recource were youtube videos from "Mackscorner" and of cause "NoGutsNoGalaxyTV".
I was schocked to see that the game has gone so far from was promised to me back when I got the Legendary Founder.
A lot of the simulation is gone. That 3rd person view is an odd choice. Also did anyone remember that awesome Mechwarrior controller from Razer. That thing just vanished. On the other hand there is still this strange "lobby/garage" menue in a window, that (sorry) looks like a browser game. From all that I saw the game has "improved" all in the wrong ways.
Don´t get me wrong, I do like my mechs. But I am by no means a Mechwarrior/Battletech fan. There is no nostalgia.
I want a solid game.
So what should I do? What did I miss? I know things like UI 2.0 is coming. But when, and will it improve things?
I guess those Phoenix / Saber Mechs will be available till October. I would think that is the timeframe that I have to make my mind up.
It is a hard decision.
Best regards
Oli
Well hopefully they check out your post. First post from a Legendary Founder this late into the game just blows my mind a bit.
