See, I don't like 3PV but I do think it's not a bad move from PGIs and IGPs perspective.
I would love the game to be hard-core oriented, I really would. But how long will the game last without the influx of new blood? When the money stream dries up from the 100000 or so players, who've got every mech that they're intrested in, and got all the paint jobs they're intrested in, and got all the little things they could spend money on, where will their revenue come from? Sure, the game will be exactly what we want, but it will die very quickly after that. This way, there's new blood, new money and we get to play. I hate to quote Tokyo Drift, but 50% of something is better than 100% of nothing. 3PV might just be a necessary evil that we'll have to learn to live with if it brings in more people who will keep the game going.
You don't have to like it, but you have to acknowledge that it's about money, no matter the passion for the IP, without money, the servers shut down. Without profits, the servers will not stay up for long, so they need to open the game up to as many people as possible. Even if they're CoD kiddies. Just because they're CoD players doesn't mean they can't be converted into MWO players, that's our job, as a community, to make them want to be MWO players and not CoD players in an mechwarrior game.
No I understand all of that 100% it's just the player retention/attraction and players going dormant and the reason why we cant have split queues problems started thanks to primarily a lack of gamemodes and metagame.
Gamemodes and metagame first, 3pv and new types of players 2nd is the way development should of went, its been two years they have had the time.
