Metacritic: User Reviews Are Starting!

This is disingenuous as the game is still being sold on the promise of what it will be, not what it is. You can't gauge what the game will be without discussing the developer. How someone feels about the developer is thus an absolutely valid approach to modifying your opinion of the game itself. That's going to be different for everyone but it is absolutely valid.
I do think it's painful that the positive reviews tend to be primarily "ignore the haters, I'm rating this game higher because they rated it so low" or "It's got problems now but it's GOING to be amazing!" and "It's F2P, so if you don't expect much it's got tons!"
I think there's a lot to recommend the game taken alone, especially if you use the film grain remover. That I have to use a 3rd party product just to remove the film grain and actually see the high quality of graphics in the game though is another negative.
The big problem? So many people *want* to love this game. I *want* to justify giving them $110 for the whole phoenix kit. I've got the money right now. I struggle with it from time to time. I want a reason, an excuse to believe in PGI and invest in the time I might spend in MW:O. Currently though with the way things have been left there's no reason to. So I'll hang around in F2P until X:Rebirth comes out and Star Citizen releases the Dogfighting Alpha at which point I'll move on to games that want my money and don't treat me like a chump, insult my intelligence, include passive/aggressive comments in dev posts, mock me on twitter, make it perfectly clear that while they'll take my money I'm certainly not the target audience for the game or otherwise make me feel foolish for wanting to give them money.
Speaking of Star Citizen, they recently had a dust-up over the release of an in-game store while the game is currently only essentially in demo mode. People got angry and upset; they felt like it was a cash grab. Their community manager was on it within an HOUR of the event - this was on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend and while they were at a gaming con by the way. He posted again a couple hours later, smoothing things a bit. 24 hours later Chris Roberts, head of the company, made an intelligent, well reasoned and respectful post where he apologized and clarified and mollified everyone. Then, just to make it clear, the cost of everything in the store was reduced by 50-80%. They didn't have to; everyone was pretty contented with the response. It was a misunderstanding and a mistake in communication, not an actual cash grab. By the way? He made that response on the holiday weekend because *it was important*.
In a lot of ways that's why people are upset. There's a lot of great things to say about MW:O, so much potential to it. We're customers though. We're spending our time and/or money on it and as such reasonably have a customers expectations. It's a big market; there's a lot of games that want my time and/or money. How they treat me is relevant to my opinion of the service they're trying to sell me every bit as much as how 'fun' it is.
That's worth rating. In fact it's an important part of rating the experience a game provides. I wish I could convince PGI of that.

You can keep them on your ignore list as an alternative.

They even had to disable comments on the launch trailer the same day it went up. You guys can white knight all you want and try to defend an addiction but it's not going to help. The time for reckoning is upon us in all it's glory.

If you truly believe what you are saying, why are you still here? What's Einstein's definition of insanity again?
I'm here because I want to be. I still hold out that just maybe the game will turn in to what was sold to me. I'm not going to go away because things didn't go how I wanted them to just so a new crop of players can come in here and get the same speech about upcoming features that we had in October 2012 without a counter voice. My question to you is why would you even need to question why I'm still here?

"Hi, I liked Battletech when I was a kid.
I like MWO because it has Battletech.
I still enjoy it.
10/10."
Thanks Golds, I learned a lot from that, I can see why I shouldn't believe any of the negative reviews, thank you.

Stop throwing all golds into the same bucket, many of us are NOT happy with the game.

golds isn't so much being a founder now as much as it has now evolved into an individual who refuses to see the state of the game.

Maps - the scale is a joke. Look at the maps and you will see so many mistakes. Grass that is 4 Meter high, dirt tracks wider than 8 lanes on a motorway... You feel like being a mansized robot not a 12m high Mech
Gamemodes - There is only ONE in 2 variations
The startpage is awkward, only advertisment to spend real money. How to even start the game is confusing...
No content, only the same 12vs12 fights all the time...
Ghostheat
That is for me a 2 out of 10 if 10 is the best game ever.
Thats not trolling, its the truth.
2 Points are for the fantastic mech designs alex made (but mostly bad implemented) and the fight mechanic itself
Would it be a beta i would give a 6 or 7 because the base idea is great and it feels good

yes PGI fails hard at PR and community relations that much is true, HOWEVER! metabombing a game you supposedly love out of a sense of entitlement is blatantly childish, you should all be ashamed you call yourself thinking men when you bomb a game for it not meeting your oh so refined expectations? #savemwo? my arse!
by bombing the user section of the reviews you have turned people away from the game, is this what you want? the battletech franchise to wither and die?
lets hope the new users are smart enough to spot enraged trolls and only read the critic reviews. i know i will get called a white knight for saying something positive about the game but honestly im beyond caring.

I answered the guy laughing at the "stalinist approach" to the forums accusation. My OP being censored is kind of an example of a stalinist approach.
Thought that was clear...
If it was a Stalinist approach, the thread would have been deleted, not censored.
