How do you expect to use those 'Mechs?

I will either be front-lining with assaults, or simply pushing a uncontested flank. The Factions mean nothing to me as long as my main mission is accomplished. Which ever's 'Mechs help me do this more efficiently is the one I will go with.
If you're asking about my focus in that territorial war thing, I will decide later as I just got back into this game.

Inner Sphere:
- Marauder
- Black Knight
- Warhammer
- Orion IIC
- Night Gyr
Night Gyr is a OmniMech. You can change OmniPods with various hardpoints, but you can not change the size and type of your engine, chassis, armor or heat sinks, so it always moves 64 km/h.
Also, I should mention that much of it is a matter of a personal taste. Marauder tanks damage well thanks its shape, but its low slung arms can be a problem sometimes (but is sports high torso hardpoints). Black Knight and Warhammer tank damage slightly worse, but they have higher hardpoints.
Orion IIC and Night Gyr can also have some good builds.

So if your team drops on some hot map (Terra Therma, for example), the quirked 'Mech suffers from no extra heat.
On the other hand, if your 'Mech drops on some cold map (HPG Manifold, for example), the quirked 'Mech is the only 'Mech of your team that gets no extra cooling bonus.
The quirk also provides a minor bonus against enemy Flamers.

I see someone got the "don't get hit" sarcasm done already.
There are a few different things that can help. Different vision modes in game can do the trick, such as heat vision. Beyond that, turning down some of your graphic visuals can reduce the smoke effects overall, reducing the blinding factor of these weapons some. About all I really have for you... sorry...

So what's the point of the CERPPC since i could just swap it out for a large pulse or in some cases two Plasma ppcs for the same damage???
CERPPC does 10 damage pinpoint can do that with 2 plasma ppcs
or a large laser..
or even more damage output with c large pulse so what's the point of wasting heat on a ppc?

KursedVixen, please stop pretending that you are a new player.
Even you should know that Clan ER PPC's range is 810 m, while Clan Large pulse laser and Clan Plasma cannon have much shorter range (550 m and 540 m respectively). Clan ER Large laser's drawback is its long burn time.
You can find all relevant info in your MWO game client's Mechlab.

PS: the people with balancing authority also have the ability to detect alt accounts - they know exactly who the various irrational partisans are, and they flat-out ignore their opinions.

Just saw the edit right now. What is the difference?
Between a CLPL and a CERPPC, range, hit scan vs pin point (with the 5 pts of possible "splash" damage), heat, velocity vs instant (hit scan)...
CERPPC vs 2 Plasma? Well, likely range, velocity, one applies heat to your target like a flamer, and one energy weapon slot vs two needed. (I don't know the Plasma very well... so some of this may be incorrect.)
Basically, it comes down to what you want, how you want it to work, and how far away you want to hit with it. Combined with heat tolerance, how the damage applies, and how many weapon slots you are wanting to use.

I find it odd that I am just now getting a notification of these posts. The edit I get, as it was edited after I read it originally...
I don't see a response from KursedVixen in this thread in a while... not to mention you didn't quote him. The person you did quote asked a reasonably good question, and never mentioned any misinformation about weapon ranges. The person was just looking at pure damage, and was wondering why one would take X over Y or Z.
What is it with you and Vixen anyway? You are constantly bringing his responses from other threads everywhere else, especially when you accuse him of necroing a thread (which is often necroed by someone else and he was just responding to them, or the thread in general likely not realizing how old it was because... someone else did a new response).
I tend to treat most people almost like they are new person when entering into a different thread, not mentioning off topic stuff within that thread about any person posting... Is this just something I do?

I am really certain that Dasha is not an alt of Vixen. Dasha also had reasonable questions I felt. Why would you take X over Y or Z? He was making the mistake of looking primarily at damage values, and not as much at heat, range, weapon behavior, etc. I mean, why would you take a CERPPC over a CLPL? Range, hit scan vs pin point, heat, complimenting other weapons selected...

Is this the new norm? Or did I just get into exceptional matches? Certainly would explain the 60%+ assault mech queue (and how there was so much HP in match to work on). I am literally having to empty my medium mech's ammo bins to be able to get maybe a PSR equal result... dealing 600+ damage scores.
In some good news, it took me two poor matches to get my mech feet back underneath me again. (And no, I still get a poor matches every once in a while, but more like 300 damage rather than my first two of just over 100 and just into 200 damage.)

Anyway, end game PSR bonus/malus depends on your match score compared to the MS of all the 23 other players. So I guess if the match was pretty heavy on damage (thus on score) you might get an equel or down arrow even with a high score...
Even though I doubt it. Not saying you're lying, but you might get a false impression and selected memories, all those kind of biases that would only make me believe such a sentence as 'when I get an end of match score of 450 and 500+, and still get PSR equal or down results" only with a serie of screenshots. After all, a 450 average matchscore would put you at the 50th place of this month leaderboard, I don't think such a score would result in a loss of PSR.
I see from your Jarls profile you stopped playing 3 years ago. My memory is known to be poor, but I don't remember the state of the game being hugely different back then. There are sometimes a lot of assaults that's true, but it's not drastically change how the game plays.
Anyway, I would not worry to much. I think it's just a matter of finding your footing again, muscle memory and stuff. Learn the new mechs and variants and their builds. It will come with time.

I'm talking, I just picked things up again a couple days ago. Played maybe 6 matches so far. I know 2 of them had match scores that said 450ish and 500+. The 450 was a PSR down and the 500+ was PSR equal. My first two matches I got around a match score of just over 100, with around 150 damage each. The other two matches I got around 300 damage, with a match score I can't recall. All PSR down, and only the 500+ was PSR equal.
I'm just wondering if this is the norm I should be expecting upon my return, or if this is just a fluke where I got into exceptionally unusual matches those two times.
I stopped solidly playing a long while ago, I admit. Life stuff happened. Moved in with my Mother in Law, who was very strict about noise during my normal playing hours. I did play for a month I think last year, enough to register back onto the Jarls list... for that month... I'm trying to get back into it again.
I will make note, between from when I last played and now, there seem to be a lot more health in a match, and a lot more assault mechs on the field I believe now. A lot of perks have changed. A lot of mechs have more durability perks, and I've noticed my Crab 27® is now perked for PPCs, rather than the lasers I last recalled them being perked for... and I've noticed a new Centurion with a shield with 100+ hp on one arm... I'm noticing I'm having to run my ammo bins dry on my Huntsmen/mediums to even get a PSR equal result. So, mostly wondering if this is the norm I should expect, or just an odd situation to have had and I need a larger sample size.
