I must say though, I do greatly enjoy the JJ skills. Just LOVE them! Really makes JJs feel like... well... JJ.

Agreed, my SDR-5V with 11 JJs and 2 MPL was rather happy (as was its pilot), I was amazed when it outperformed 2 significantly heavier Mechs on my team on the PTS, and I am most certainly not a t1 player.

You wouldn't fear me in a locust. Believe me.

I was mistaken. It has been more recently that I logged in. I just got the achievements for getting pwned by Captain Adams. I had already gotten the cbills for running the gauntlet.

Anyway I hope to see you on the battlefield.

Come join us in the Locust thread and get up to speed on the little monstrosities, XD.

Because some ECM mech/s was detected by the UAV.

But UAV does not suppress enemy ECM, does it? Only detects mechs?

I am not sure if it cancels ECM but it most certainly does make Mechs under ECM targetable

Well it cancels out the part that makes ECM mechs un-detectable, but the delays in getting target info / lock are still in effect.

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy to read you say that! I love my 5V even though I suck with it and now I am officially excited about the new system!

if I shoot 3x ac5s into an enemy, will it shake 3x as much, or the same?

Also when I am rapidly shooting a mech in the testing ground with autocannons, the enemy mech animation only seems to flinch/recoil every 2-3 ac hits (presumably it needs to finish the first animation before it can start the second).
I assume however that the screenshake matches the rate at which it is being hit by ac fire and not the recoil animation?

I am not 100% certain but I am pretty sure the screenshake has a set value for each weapon, so regardless if 1 AC5 or 6 AC5 hit you at once it should generate the same ammount of shake, however if the 3 AC5 hit seporately e.g. 0.5 seconds apart you get 3 impacts, and constant light hits give much worse screen shake than infrequant hard hits

Same.

Screenshake matches ROF not recoil animation.

Alpha them for pinpoint damage, chain them to piss people off and force them into cover.

They can see your weapons sticking out of your mech. :)

This is quite true. Short of lasers, every weapon has a very unique shape. (Other exceptions: Streak vs standard SRM are indistinguishable. Standard vs Artemis-enhanced missiles are indistinguishable. Clan AC [not UAC] and LBX are indistinguishable [because they 'are' supposed to be the same weapon but different ammo types].)

Can you tell what this Kitfox is carrying?

(My Kit Fox; shot by Lordred)

I bet you this Wolverine is carrying 3 Streak 2s (because who carries 3 SRM-2s?), 2 AC/5s and most likely a medium laser.

(Don't know who this is. Shot by Lordred.)

Can you figure out what this Jagermech is carrying?
Posted Image
Since it's my Jagermech (this shot by WolfMech), I will tell you there are 6 weapons (one can't be seen) and the weapon you can't see is identical to another one that you can.

There are several ways this can happen, but none of them are easy.

As Zoeff stated, your mech tries to represent your weapons, as some pilots can figure your build out from there.

Another way is to just remember what certain mechs can take, and what their standard builds tend to be. Like, most Kodiaks will have either 4 AC10s (LBx or Ultra), 2 Guass and 2 PPCs or something of that sort. A Catapult A1 must have missiles of some kind, forcing it into SRMs or LRMs, most likely 6 LRM5s or 6 SRM4/6s.

Another way is if you are in a Trial mech build, and people have memorized those builds (as they are clearly marked with a (C) in their name). Thus, the Champion Hunchback IIC will have 2 UAC10s and 2 ERMLs, or the Champion Crab will have three LPLs. The Champion Shadowcat will have 2 LPLs, ECM, JJ and MASC.

Most of this is just memorizing what the "norm" is for the average person. "Oh, it's this mech? Probably has this build." It doesn't always work out, but typically people play very similar builds on very similar mechs.

That's why I'm so successful by staying away from Metamechs. I don't usually have "what the average person has" so I often come up as a surprise.

"Bright orange Stalker, huh? Must have lasers and... OMG! FLAMERS! NOOOO!!! Constant barrage of Streak missiles! Can't see! Such screen shake!"

....Really sad that flamers got changed. Posted Image

"Dude, there's a Locust hiding out in the water... we should like, kill it." "Lets deal with the bigger threats here first, clearly that's a noob if he's standing still."
Surprise! AC/5!

"It's an Awesome, I bet it has PPCs. What the...!?"

"Huh, Raven, bet it has some ER LL, lets just harass it into oblivion... GYAAAAH!!!"

Same here. I don't think I have a single Meta Mech, or if I did I made it myself on what I wanted it to do. (Linebacker is probably my most "Meta" of mechs, as it has the Prime's two PPC, but I also added in two SRM4s... Not to mention, that is near stock for the Prime.) I mean, I took a Huntsman P, a mech known for SRM spam, and I placed two PPCs on it because I couldn't think of something that wasn't already done on my Huntsman PH (which is 4 SRM4s and 2 ERLLs). I think I may have actually created a meta for a moment with the Huntsmen, with 3 ERMLs and an LBx10 (or UAC10 before the nerf). Didn't last long though, but it was strange seeing other people using my builds...

I'm also disappointed with how the flamer affects got changed, as well as it's shooting mechanics. I was kinda getting into the blinding of my foes with them, and chain firing two of them for no added heat. (Okay, that last part probably did need to change... Doesn't mean I can't miss it still.)

Well i find the flamer optics okay for a Release of excess reactor Energy.
What puzzles me is the additional heat. I am releasing hot plasma and i am getting hot?
