I have lots of Clan 'mechs for QP... they are a different flavour, and it's good to know what drawbacks your enemies are dealing with. As far as switching allegiances, let's just say the guy who runs the Junkhounds is... eccentric, and although I can sign contracts on behalf of my unit I can't sign any with the Clans. I promised him.

There is a recent thread about Roughtnech as it's just been released for Cbills. Check it for some ideas.

https://mwomercs.com...tten-roughneck/
https://mwomercs.com...ughneck-to-buy/

I looked the mechs a bit and two models seemed particularly intresting. The one with lots of energy hardpoints, those are most pretty high so that's always a good thing. Another model had two high ballistic points which could, not well, but barely take a pair of RAC5. The price for that would be to be forced to take STD engine, but it would still have enough speed. That's more of a personal thing, I don't have a lot of IS mechs and so far I've not had a mech that could take a pair of RAC5s and do well with them. But right now I'm not buying any IS mechs until they come on sale.

You mentioned FP and already having Jagermechs. Now considering they are fairly similiar and have both same tonnage, I don't see how Roughtnech could be much better than Jagermech. Little better yes, but I would not expect it to be that significantly better. Disapointments with Jagermech more boils down to FP play being significantly more difficult than QP. And there's only one sollution to that, practise. Slightly better mechs won't help much.

So if it's worth it depends on how much cbills you got to burn, and kinda as well as the rest of your deck. Just replacing a Jagermech with a Roughnech, I don't think that will be worth the cbills.

Come to think about it, Jagermech is fairly rare sight in FP. Of course it's partially because IS has so much tonnage that people prefer assult -medium/light combos. Too early to say the same about Roughneck since so far it's been out for real money.

Two weeks ago Russ has said IS will lose 15 tons down to 250 tons which would make heavies more common, but so far they haven't actually done that. It might have been postponed. Actually his latest tweet says "As to FP tonnage values for now I have decided to hold course." I don't understand, does "hold course" mean keep what's current? Or does "course" refer to the initial decision to drop the tonnage down to 250. It seems I'm not the only one confused. I think he means the IS will keep their 25 tonnage lead for now.

Nautically, 'hold course' means to not deviate from the path you are on, so I concur with your latter analysis.

As to the Roughneck/Jager comments, I agree with you, and I know that dropping an assault is the norm. I'm not comfortable running my assaults yet, and the only one I have moderately skilled (70/91) is a Zeus 6T(s), so I prefer to drop 3 heavies and an elited Yen Lo. I thought perhaps the Roughneck, with it's tanky quirks, might enable me to do a little better in FP. I do play a strict support role in FP, following orders and the people that seem to know what they're doing. I don't play FP much, but I'm trying to get my decks in order and elited by running them as much as possible in QP. Thanks ever so much for your time!

The Roughnecks proved to be pretty useful when I used them in Faction Play.

Mine was pretty sluggish though so I relied heavily on 2 RAC/5s to suppress enemies while using some Light PPCs to shoot over things.

I get lag when playing this game while in a group or while using teamspeak. When going solo and with no teamspeak I have zero lag.

Thoughts?

Do Target Comps work with RACs? Sorry if that's been answered. Posted Image

Quite likely it's Teamspeak causing your issues, it can/is a resource hog. Which is why many have switched to Discord.

The game has its own voice chat.
And then you run a voice chat in the background.

In your own words: Game + its own voice chat = no lag.
Game + its own voice chat + your Teamspeak = lag.
Hm.
Thoughts? :P

Game with group minus teamspeak... does that equal lag? That's where the real question rests.

TCs do not affect RACs.

Since the RAC is a regulare projectile weapons (unlike MGs) the TC influences its projectile speed and critchance.

Do you experience lags/rubberbanding --> connection issues, bandwith
or does the game stall microfreeze --> software issues caused by concuring teamspeak and voicecom

Recent patch notes mentions "Set of 8 Quirks" in reference to clan omnimechs.

What does that mean? My brain suggests it means you have to equip all 7 omnipods + CT of the variant in order to receive the quirks? Is that correct?

You are correct. You would need to have all Omnipods be of the same variant. Such as all Huntsmen B omnipods equipped onto a Huntsmen B CT (chassis).

If even a single pod is not the same, you will not have access to the set of 8 quirks.

Could be worse.

Could have been a requirement that you have 8 copies of a mech to have quirks.

That would actually be better, as then the quirks would actually be used by someone...

I use the quirks fairly well on the Huntsmen B and the Prime... It's not much though, but they are nice to have sometimes... (The B I may need to look into, as they changed the UAC skills, as well as I don't remember the quirks now... Been playing my Prime for so long... Love that mech.)

But yeah. Not all the "set of 8" quirks are good enough to actually take a full set of 8. I actually find it odd for the Huntsmen when it first came out, and almost made it seem like I was being penalized for using an omnimech as... well... an Omnimech. At least at the time... Still seems odd to me, but I've learned to work with it. (It probably helped that I've never really built mechs specifically to quirks. Though I'm not saying I don't look at them as I build a mech... Just that I don't take them as the only thing a mech can do. If you know what I mean.)

I understand that team speak was the issue. I was asking for remedies. Mostly since I want to be able to user teamspeak while playing. I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling it. Seemed to fix the problems.

Can someone explain Damage Dealer Goals and Information Warfare Goals? Quick Play Goals? Does it mean like KMDD and Counter ECM? I'm hoping it doesn't mean kill the VIP with quick play goals, but thats all I can guess it means.
