Regarding large engines with double heat sinks. Do the additional slots cool at the engine rate of 2x or the additional rate of 1.4x (e.g. the +2 slots on a 300 engine)?

Only the invisible HS are worth full x2.
All visible HS (even if put into the engine itself*) are only worth 1.4

*Edit: or part of the required 10, but outside the engine

Question, the Daishi is supposed to be released on the 4th week of this month, does that mean sometime around this coming monday, (22nd) or do we know/not know the date it will be released?

I think Daishi is being released for C-Bills next Tuesday(23rd) as it's exactly two weeks after the Summoner C-Bills release.

No patches occur on a monday. All the ones labeled "week #" have occurred on a Tuesday along with a normal patch containing various other things.

Yup. It'll be available for C-bills starting tomorrow (around 2pm Eastern, when the servers come back online after the patch).

hi warriors, i just started to play that game

2-3 things confuse me (the most)

one of my mechs is a catapult, with bap, non the less i am often hit from behind by jenners and similar lights, which i do not notice till they damage me. Is that really as designed?? what can i do to ensure that will not happen that often

sometimes I notice such backstabber, turn to him and open fire, however still this guy wont be aquired by sensors, and therefore my team often is unaware of him and does not help. how can i "decloak" him???

finally these one on one matches often end deadly for me, my catapult has 4 medium lasers currently, and i hit more or less these lights, doing some damage, however they are capable to shot me down much faster. how? they have less armor and unlikely much more armament then my heavy mech... very often i see my mech damaged to lets say 90% and then in next second GAME OVER... how??? when i try training grounds i have to shoot and shoot and shoot and it feels like these dummys need sometimes minutes to get destroyed - why i need so long to destroy but get destroyed so fast. are there some weakspots? gold ammo or what? help me to understand that!

best regards!

You could work towards acquiring a Seismic Sensor module, which, if you're standing still, will allow you to see these little buggers on your minimap.

If you have a BAP installed, I'm not sure what that issue could be (though keep in mind, you have to be within 150 meters for your BAP to override an enemy's ECM, so if they're outside of that range, they'll still be protected). Are you hitting "R" to target them? You only transmit data about enemies to your teammates if you target them; just "seeing" them isn't enough.

There is no "gold ammo" or anything like it in this game, but there are (in essence) "weak spots." Mechs are comprised of several body parts, which each have their own health. In order to kill a 'Mech you HAVE to destroy either:
its Center Torso
its Head
or both of its Legs

In the instance of Inner Sphere 'Mechs with an XL engine, you can destroy either Side Torso to kill them as well.

In the instance of Clan 'Mechs with an XL engine, you can destroy BOTH of their Side Torsos to kill them.

What you might be experiencing is that the players you're fighting are doing a very good job of hitting your 'Mech on one single location, in order to kill you as quickly as possible, while you yourself might be "splashing" damage around their 'Mech, doing damage on the whole, but not enough to one specific part to really put the 'Mech down quickly.

Lasers in particular are more prone to this problem, as their damage is delivered in equal parts over the entire duration of the beam. For example, an IS Medium Laser does 5 damage, but you have to keep the laser on target the entire time to do all 5 damage, and, furthermore, you have to keep it on a single component of your target (such as the Center Torso) for that damage to really be meaningful.

Keep playing and practicing and you'll get better. If you're having issues keeping your aim on-target, try lowering your mouse sensitivity. Use the Testing Grounds and try to keep your lasers on a 'Mech's Center Torso while you're moving around to get the hang of it.

Question I've been meaning to ask. How do I correctly post links to Smurfy builds, where the title of the mech is the link itself?

I can only ever seem to make the full URL to my build work, but other people post links that look like the following:

JM6-DD

And that links to their build, what am i doing wrong/how do I do this?

Type in the text that you want to have appear as the link, highlight it, and then hit this button (shown in image below) and insert the link.

And to add, there is a toggle on the top left that looks like a switch that can show how the code works so you should see something like this:

in addition to the information provided by DEMAX51, in the bottom left corner of your screen is a status display for your Mech usually called the paper doll, each part of your mech has a line around it then a solid area, the line is the status of your armor, the solid colour is the status of your internal structure, as you take damage the colour changes, yellow or brown indicates still ok, red indicated heavily damaged, the darker the red the more damaged it is, if it goes black it is destroyed.

When you target an enemy Mech after a few seconds you will see their paper doll in your top right (TAG, NARC, BAP and the Target info gathering module speed up you getting that information, while ECM can dramatically slow receipt of that info), if a torso or leg is damaged try to fire on that part to destroy that component, even just removing an arm will usually reduce the enemy firepower. this is how the enemy were killing you so fast, they could see where you had taken damage and focused fire on that area

Yes, you do earn XP when you pilot a trial 'Mech, but you can't spend it until you buy that chassis (and the XP you earn is only for that chassis).

Example: you play the trial Jenner-F. You earn XP for the Jenner-F, but you can't use that XP to unlock skill for the Jenner-F until you buy one of your own. Once you've purchased on, and you're ready to spend your XP, you can do so from the "Skills" tab at the top of the front-end UI.

To add what DMAX51 said:
The 10% XP bonus is only working if you OWN the mech, but you still get the normal XP per match (see end of round screen) for trial mechs.
If you buy the variant (does work for the Champion AND for the normal variant, as both are still the same variant), e.g. the Catapult A1 or the Catapult A1(C) (c for champion), you get XP for every match and you have all the XP collected from using the trial Catapult A1(C) before buying it.

THX for your input, yes that makes it less confusing!

just the fact of the enemy mechs which still are not recognized and marked red is somehow strange to me.
I thought i have to hit R to enable my own missiles to lock on. I will try next time I see a mech which my targeting computer did not mark "red" to hit R to see if that "decloaks" it.

oh thx again and good luck, (show mercy if you see me, from short range lol )

Hi all, masters!

I hear lately that the only truely useful heavy mech is Timberwolf. Streamers keep saying this at least, today I heared something like this from NGNGtv host Jager XII. Do I have to sink 55 bucks into this f2p game to get some chance? Really?

I have got a Shadowhawk 2H and a Cataphract 3D, but i am in a bad losing streak lately - thats why I considering to get some more capable clan design.

The Timberwolf is really good, and certainly is better at everything than the Summoner.

To clear up some misconceptions here, though:
  • you don't need to pay $55 to get a Timberwolf, all Clan Mechs will be available singly for MC and C-bills eventually. Here is the schedule: http://mwomercs.com/...lease-schedule/
  • If you were going to buy one Clan mech a la carte (as a package of 3 with an (I) variant, for cash) the Timberwolf is a solid choice, it can do a bit of everything pretty well.
  • The Timberwolf is not perfect, there are many reasons to pilot something else. IS weapons have better pinpoint damage, especially if you want to use ballistic weapons (clan ballistics fire a short burst, IS ballistics fire a solid slug), faction reasons(if you want to play Community Warfare in an IS faction you can't use a clan mech), or just budget (clan mechs are expensive)
Clan mechs can seem pretty OP at times, and the balancing for clan mechs is not done yet; in particular, expect clan mechs to suffer larger penalties from losing a side torso than they currently do as well as more weapon tweaks.

Somebody asked already but could not find explanation..

"When I mouse over and omni pod to check it's specs there are 2 restrictions underneath, one is a dollar sign which I presume is whether I can afford it, but what is the other one? Sometimes it's green and sometimes it's red, it's a little circle with a dot in the middle with for line protruding from it."

What is a dollar sign? XP bonus will be applied if used?
What is a little circle with a dot in the middle with for line protruding from it? (banging my head to the wall about this one, please...)
