A general suggestion is to use artemis with bigger launchers, and not with smaller launchers. Srm4s fall squarely in the middle, so it's up to you. Artemis does tighten up the spread, so you can hit more of the enemy from further out, but at the end of the day, it's up to you whether it's worth it. Note that if you have a mech with both lrms and srms, you will be fitting artemis to either all or none. Also, note that artemis requires a weight and space penalty for each launcher, so if you have for example a splat cat with 6 srm6s, dropping artemis in will increase the weight by 1 ton per, or 6 tons total and require an additional slot per, for a total of 6 slots.

An ASRM4 is also, interestingly, the same size and weight as a regular SRM6. You get less heat, more ammo efficiency with generally the same killing power (because you're concentrating the missiles here it counts)

Oh-kay, so while we are discussing missiles and Artemis.

Did PGI got around to fixing the bug with cooldown modules

not applying their bonuses to the Artemis launchers?

I've been away for about a month.

Regarding the artemis query, was due to running it on a Huginn. They spread too much at range on a turning target, so 6 of the missiles go wide, while the other two hit an arm or a side torso from behind.

I find it essential on the Huginn due to rapid fire and ranged use (vs the slashing runs of an Oxide). My Huginn actually ditches MGs (and arm armor) entirely for Artemis, a big engine (295) and lots of ammo (600 which I shoot out often enough to not feel excessive). I strongly recommend Artemis there.

Eeeyep. Gave Artemis a shot. The difference is pretty big; especially at close range where shot placement matters more.

An enemy Huginn cornered me just last match, and we were trading SRM fire while scooting forward and back to throw off aim. His MG/SRM versus just my SRM4 Arty. Cored him out faster than he could me.

The ammo sitting in my torsos makes me nervous, but then there's the price you pay for a Huginn.

I feel the same as I do on my Oxide: if I'm getting hit in an open ST, I'm probably dead anyway. Safer than legs for sure. I put it CT, head and STs, IIRC. Since CT burns first and head last, the ST is the biggest explosion risk, but see above. Great fun mech now.

Is there a way in battle to look at a friendly mech and see if it is light, medium, heavy, etc or do you just need to learn all the names?

Learn the names and the shapes. Won't take long.

Hello,

Is there a way to play with at least one friend? I searched for it but I always get stuck in something like 12team squads. I'd like to play with person I know, etc, etc. I haven't found it ingame, so maybe someone can tell why it's so bad idea to implement that function? As well, I'm surprised there is no 'spam chat'. It's usualy a spam but at least it gives some level of 'feel' to community and provides an alternative way to forum.
Some may see it's quite common to games of that kind, but really, in comparison to eve online or wot there is a big gap in communication. (I want only the answer for teamplay, the rest is my little effort to show another point which makes the game invisible to many many people, don't mention lack of ads or the target is not Europe.)

In the front-end of the game client there is a small button at the bottom of the screen with what looks like three little people on it. That's the "social" button, and it's where you can add people to your friends list, and create a group so that you can play with them.

Matches are always 12v12 though, so you'll be grouped up with your friends, but the matchmaker will still pair you with other random players to make a full team of 12.

Does that answer your question?

Think so! I used to add the friend to the list but I couldn't find the option to create group.

It should be at the bottom of your friends list. "Create Public Group." (Blue button IIRC, maybe yellow...?)

Damn, maybe that was not the answer. Do I have to create group of 12 people to play? I meant if I could play with 'one' person against another group/people from outside my group.

No, you can create a group of 2-10 or 12 (since no solo players in group queue, 11 doesn't work). You'll be combined with other groups to form a 12v12 battle.

You can do a private match with any number of players from 1v1 to 12v12, with just you and your freind(s), for numbers of players below 12v12 the leader of each team will need premium time (purchased with MC or occasisionaly available as prize in an event)

Now it's clear. For clarity, it simply means I won't be able to invite one friend to my 'team' and face normal games. I'll check that subject anyway. Thank you for answers.

PS: I asked because you don't always want friends and you just play with the one you used to play when possible:)

I have picked one faction on web site and now I cannot find where to change it (on the web site). Is this function gone from the web and can only be changed ingame? Thanks

I see that at current you are aligned with House Kurita.

at this point I think you can only change faction in game under the faction tab,

also if you are with a unit, the Units leadership accepts a contract on behalf of the entire unit, so if you are in a unit and do not like the current faction you will not be able to change faction without leaving the unit, at which point I think there is a 2 day waiting period before you can join another unit

Currently, you can only change your faction in-game in the Faction tab. You'll have to accept a contract with one of 'em. As Rogue mentioned, if you're in a unit, you will automatically be put into whichever Faction your unit leader has chosen.
