When looking at a mech in the mechlab the bottom right there is a window that says mech stats. At the top left of that window is a box you can click to expand it to show all the mech stats. That is where the quirks are shown. For clan mechs you can also click on the omnipods before equipping them and it will pop up a window with quirks for that specific pod.

Dont feel bad I could not find them either and was told by someone else.

I sold the jump jets loaded on my Freebie Thunderbolt. How can I buy them back? I have looked under every menu in the mechlab and couldn't even find the option to buy.

They are under "Equipment". Are you sure you have the right Thunderbolt selected? Only variant actually uses Jump jets (9SE). So if you are tweaking a different variant, there are no JJs for that variant.

Can I ask what might be a completely Rookie question? (hope this is the right place for this....)

I've been playing the game for about a year now and after a very steep learning curve I am holding my own every odd game (a few kills, plenty of assists) - when I concentrate!

However, I am not entirely sure that I have ever properly learnt the basics of torso twisting.

What I'm doing at the moment is this - When facing an enemy I shoot and then look left or right by moving the mouse left or right and then swivel back to look at the enemy to re-engage. Is this right?

I just don't seem to be spreading damage the way I think it should work and find (especially with Assaults) that I sometimes get cored quite quickly in a face off situation.

Can someone be kind enough to talk through the mechanics of this in terms of what you do with the keyboard and mouse to achieve the best results?

Thanks in advance

That's the basic idea. Be sure your mouse is sensitive enough that it doesn't limit you, the mech's speed limits you. If you're not twisting as fast as your mech can, that's bad.

That said, alphas are so huge now, twisting is not as effective as it once was and getting cored can happen, but it's still essential to good play.

Another thing to consider is understanding the cycles of your opponents' weapons. If you can fire between them, you can shield more effectively.

Is it safe to put 1 ton of ac2 ammo in the torso of a dragon with an XL engine or should I keep it in the arm?

Ammo placement is more art than science. Are you saying CT or ST? If CT, then I'd think one ton would be OK since that's consumed first and you should get through it before your internals are exposed. ST...at a new player's Elo, should also be reasonable, most players shoot DRGs in the CT (though the ST is way more hittable than most think). Legs are also a decent choice since most players shoot CT. And you can stash one in the head... AC/2s, among their many, many problems do leave you with difficult choices about where to put all that ammo.

if its for pug matches, stick it in the legs, 19/20 your going to be killed from engine destruction than by any other means (unless your a light /med)
comp - well thats another story

Well, given that it's AC/2 ammo, the best choice is "back in your inventory since you can't sell it." ;)

It doesn't, agreed. It is an improvement however over the last mech lab. At least you can see the quirks while customizing your loadout in game. Before you had to save your loadout and go back to the hangers to hover over the mech to see the quirks. It's an improvement, put the button is poorly located IMHO. It needs some color to stand out more. or even better, be enlarged.

The legs and head have a mixture of UAC5 and AC2, so I do kind of need that extra ammo.

Put it wherever it's padded with other equipment the best then.

Thanks Terciel. Will make sure my mouse is dialed up to the max sensitivity.

Well, that might not be ideal, but you don't want it to be holding you back either. Mine is around 1000 DPI with in-game sensitivity at .13, I believe.

Two more things to learn:

1- If you are not twisting fast enough (let's face it, as an assault, you never are twisting fast enough). You can twist your entire mech with the "A", and "D" keys, to help you twist your torso faster.

2- You need to be twisting while the enemy is firing. The problem, though, relies on knowing what kind of weapon they are firing. If it's lasers, then twist and dance as much as you want, and spread the damage all over the place. If they are using SRMs, and PP FLD weapons, then you want to twist away after shooting, and stay twisted, keep giving them your side, until they grow impatient, and fire, then you twist, and smack them right in their stupid face. Rinse repeat, while possibly alternating sides, and you're golden. (I've seen an Atlas tank as much as 600 damage just doing that).

with sensitivity its a balance being able to torso twist quickly and being able to hold your laser burn on the exact component, if your sensitivity is that high that you cannot keep your laser EXACTLY where you want it (im talking individual components not just the enemy mech) then its too high and you need to drop it down till your accuracy improves. Not point being able to torso twist like a maniac if you cant hit the target ;) its a fine balance and the settings will depend on many variables inc each persons mouse and their mat. You need to adjust the settings yourself. I actually change my DPI on the fly depending what im trying to do but thats a little more advanced and will just over complicate things for now.

It's not in the mechlab. Go to home > inventory
