Clans are brainwashed cultists who hate the concept of a free man. Second to the Word of Blake.

They are terrorists to the free universe and must be routed out at all costs.

They cling to their superior technology instead of embracing the battlefield with their brothers in arms.

Down with the clans.

...except those siding with the DCMS and trading with them. Everyone else can go the way of Smoke jaguar. :)

Alas, all is for naught until we have a virtual battlefield to settle such matters on :)

(that said, I go for an option not named: 'they are clanners who are skilled enough to post in the forums via mobile device while piloting a battlemech)

If anything, the Clan pilots are simply script kiddies relying on technology instead of a head on their shoulders to get the job done. :)

I just decided to skip all the banter of this all.. Those who are RP, and stay IC in many posts, ARE NOT GOING TO CHANGE. So get over it, go change your tampon before you get Toxic shock syndrome, seriously you whine worse than my wife during a crazy bought of PMS. We like to RP, even if there are RP boards the players will still stay IC, it does not take away from anything, you just think it does. ****.

Please rant and rave to this post all you like, This is one thread I will not bother with any longer. You make me think of Monty Python...

Now, I've noticed a tendency for this programme to get rather silly. Now I do my best to keep things moving along, but I'm not having things getting silly. Those two last sketches I did got very silly indeed, and that last one about the bed was even sillier. Now, nobody likes a good laugh more than I do...except perhaps my wife and some of her friends...oh yes and Captain Johnston. Come to think of it most people likes a good laugh more than I do. But that's beside the point. Now, let's have a good clean healthy outdoor sketch. Get some air into your lungs. Ten, nine, eight and all that.

Don't feed the trolls, Children of Kerensky. They're just bitter that we're living out his vision while they're scrambling to sit astride a throne that has been vacant for half a century.

If I remember my canon correctly "clan warriors" aren't suppose to use contractions, except for a few who could get away with it and posting on a surat forum and sparring with words is beneath such examples of true clan warriors. :D

Seriously though, if the clan role players are serious, lets gets some trials of grievance going. Otherwise we are just blowing smoke here and being extremely unclan like. :)

The MWO boards was awesome the first couple days. Everyone's just happy for another Mech game, backpatting each other, internet high fives, a couple brofists perhaps...really cool.
But after that, it sort of degenerated into the pettiest of whines.
Other MMOs at least, consistently whines about class or some other balance issue...

but here...I mean, whining about other players for staying IC? Really? What are you people, over sensitive juveniles? lol

Look, both Aaron and I threw your B.S. back in your face. My arguments were logical, and the police reference was a parallel. Want me to spell it out? Being a nuisance is irritating in both situations, it just happens that in this situation I can't call the cops on you. Maybe you don't recognize how irritating it is? Or are you doing it out of spite now that Aaron went through all your old posts and dug up evidence?

YOU ARE EXACTLY WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT WHEN WE SAY CLAN RP ADDS NOTHING TO THESE FORUMS.

Please accept your fate, get over yourself, and maybe think about changing so you don't become a forum reject. I just can't manage to get across the point that you're being "That Guy" along with quite a few other clan players. Be respectful to everyone else's feelings! PLEASE? I really don't understand why you consistently refuse to see that by being thick skulled and doing things however you want that you are irritating the **** out of a lot of other people! Did you grow up in a barn? Have you never been taught manners?

Yeesh. I tried being calm and respectful and I've had to resort to this. You've lowered me to your level. Congratulations.

Yes thank you for admitting that what you project is total BS. Confession is good for the soul I hear. The point is it was a stupid parallel because one has consequences because that person has chosen to break the laws that are established where I have done no such thing. YOU simply do not like it. Boo hoo. Out of spite means I would have to care enough about you two to get worked up into a state of mind where I would try to plot something against you. Get over YOURSELF. You two are not that important. What evidence in old posts? Paste them, I dare you.

I could NEVER be what you two are talking about since I do not rant.

You need to accept your fate. I am breaking no forum laws & will CONTINUE to RP at MY leisure. Go cry in a corner if you cannot deal with that or simply press Ignore. You have that option. How am I "That Guy" when other people have pointed out I am not one of the ranters. If you have some special problem with me, guess what? That is YOUR problem. So because I will not walk on egg-shells for your two majesties, I grew up in a barn & my parents did not raise me properly? Wow. The arrogance. I will not lower myself to reply with an insult to the people that raised you. Thank you for showing everyone the person that you are.

You could never call anything prior to this calm & respectful. Just because we cannot hear the words you type clearly your arrognace & anger came through quite clearly. "AAARRRGGGGHHHHH HOW DARE HE RP HERE!"

You are always talking about logic & the fact you could paraphase the points I made to:

Quote

Blah blah angry garbage, etc.

shows you are clearly not,.

Did I do full course in logic? No but according to the Introductory course, W.H. Newton-Smith says:

Quote

Logic, it is often said, is the study of valid arguments. It is a systematic attempt to distinguish valid arguments from invalid arguments.

An argument is valid if it has the property that if the premises were true the conclusion would have to be true. Why should we be especially interested in validity? It turns out that validity is a particularly nice property for an argument to have. For if you reason validly (that is, if your reasoning can be represented by a valid argument) and if you start with true premises you will never be led into error. And if you can get someone else to accept your premises as true, he has to accept as true anything which follows validly from those premises.

My arguments are not invalid simply because I choose to make them from a character perspective.

You have YET to prove that I violate any of the forum rules or that I do not participate in any meaningful dialogue in specific topics. Since you also cannot agree to disagree Tsen I have made the same choice I did regarding Aaron. You are not going to get to the point where you ruin my time here.

Good day.

Jaroth Winson - I didn't think clan warriors argued with words. Might makes right. If you want to stay "in character" challenge these people. Find a martial (preferably a virtual one devoted of legal repercussions) and hash it out. What we have going on here is pointless

Oh dear.

Now all this talk of logic is sidestepping the main issue: most of the discussions here aren't really logical, and can't be, because there is no true or false solution, only different solutions based on different values. Some people want the game to feel like MW 4, others prefer 2, some people even want it to have a Living Legends vibe. There is no way that most game design speculation can be reduced to logic. Similarly, people's opinions on how the cannon goes aren't logical, they're opinions based on values. When people are annoyed by RPing in the discussion forum, it's not because they disagree with your logic, it's because they don't feel that they can argue cannon issues with someone who is pretending to have different values, or because they don't enjoy watching someone else Roleplay alone while they actually discuss the issues.

I want you to have fun here, but unapologetically irritating people on this kind of forum is going to get backlash. If you want to argue for the clans as good guys who have been misunderstood, fine, but you'll be seen as much more credible when you aren't writing from the perspective of one of them. Technically, a defendant can represent himself, but they almost always hire a lawyer, even when they are lawyers themselves. This isn't because they need someone else to do logic for them.

People are just stubborn people like Winson (see what I did there Winson? I addressed you, because ignoring someone who is directly challenging you is childish. How many more people will you fight with, and then move on cause you can’t beat them or heaven forfend just admit they have a point, right or wrong) who cover their ears and scream loudly.

yet more angry ranting by the one who claims they do not rant

For all your veneration of logic, you have yet to submit to us the logic behind your position.
Beyond the statement “I am RP-ing cause I wanna” you don’t provide any counterpoints to the question raised at you:
“why are you RP-ing so obsessively in the General Discussion forum when there is clearly a spot for Roleplay…in fact 3 of them: Houses, Merc Cos. And Fan Fiction”
You’re glad to accept Tsen’s concession, but you never make any of your own, only an irrational person believes in the perfection of their argument in the face of strong counterpoints.
I guess the most d a mming thing is, by choosing to ignore the evidence I gathered against your claim of ‘non-disruptive rp’ you know I’m right.
The crux of the annoyance leveled at you can summed as this: by playing a clanner, you cannot properly discuss the validity of the claim ‘are the clans x/y/z’ because you are completely colored by your characters views. By incessantly playing your character, all you can really do is just quote source material, you can’t draw inferences or even consider out-of-game concepts or ideas because it would break your RP and as a character you can just nonchalantly pass off any counterpoint as incorrect because in an RP that defense works. Now imagine someone having to talk to this kind of perspective? It would be downright annoying! Most conversations then would just be shouting matches over whose the better faction!
Winson you even check out that podcast that’s been posted? that’s the kind of material that goes into a General Discussion
I’m all for rational, calm, human discourse…RP any sort of character does not fall into this category, it’s a façade.
Gawain raises the point perfectly; it is your right and responsibility so be responsible, RP but accept the criticism of what you are doing

Is this thread silly? Absolutely; the absurd lies in the stubbornness of some people when given an outlet (3 sub-foras for RP) say ‘well I don’t like those, I don’t like you, ***** you haterzzz!”
How come when we call you RP-ers out, we’re the ones who have to deal? We are labeled as whiners? So people who want rational and real talk on the game are whiners?
So you RP, we push back and we’re the whiners? How about you all? What are you doing right here and now? Whining about this thread and its viewpoint!
And finally?

in a forum!?
or the clans being OP? how could you ever argue that legitamely IC!?

This thread is a prime example of why the Ignore feature is useful. Again, I did not notice who started it. If I had, I would not have replied.

Omar I am not the only one who RPs in the forums but I am not one of the ranters, They want me to post they way they want & I reject that completely. I have had enough of this. They have no authority over me & I have done nothing wrong. I have defended myself over & over again. If I break no rules & am expressing my thoughts from a character perspective (which I do not do in every thread) I see no need to change what I do simply because they whine about it.

So when I continue to reply in character to the posts I do that in, they can whine & moan all they want. I will not see it.

you guys have a point, the Mods would kill this thread and tell you to knock off the RP and put it where it belongs AND they'd have the authority to force you to do it! <---------this works in our favor

BTW Jaroth, if the canon about the clans tells us anything; they're down fall was:
ignoring their enemies
believing themselves to be 100% right all the time
refusing to change in anyway

i don't need to RP that, its built into the canon for godsakes
the sad part is you believe it and live it

Let's all take a break and realize that the trolling we're arguing about (if it really
is trolling) is happening on an un-moderated board for a game that isn't even
out yet. Honestly, it could all be spam. I think we can all laugh it off and agree
that we just want to enjoy the game, right mechwarrior fandom? Right?

Yeah, I'm gonna tag team out. This is absurd. Sweet mother of Pete I can't wait till we get mods. Also I'm gonna start moderating myself, definitely not gonna post about anything even remotely serious or have any real discussions. Just gonna play Skyrim.

See you in a few months maybe.

No no, if they want to RP entities that aren't even playable, at least for the time being, then so do I! So don't get mad if you catch me running around the forums as a level 300 Paladin casting spells, nossing your gamma and hitting you in the face with my blood shadow claymore. Want a serious game development discussion? Sure! How about....NO, DON'T IMPLEMENT THE ABILITY TO CHOOSE A REFLECTIVE ARMOR LOADOUT FOR YER MECHS, CAUSE MY SPELLS AND FREEZE-ARROWS WILL BOUNCE OFF THEM!!!!

Seriously, this is what people are complaining about now. Come on we are grown men and women, let people have their own opinions. Complaining about such petty things won't change them, not to mention it's just out right silly.
