What are you even saying?
EVERYONE has been waiting for the clans to show up, people couldn't STOP talking about them. The real cash grab isn't the 500 dollar mechs, that's just for those that really want to support this game because it's fun. The real cash grab is the timberwolf at 210$ that's the cash grab and it is brilliant.
PGI is doing everything they can to get new features rolling, and you call releasing the clan mechs 24 mechs with full geometry, movement, models, and sub-variations NOTHING?
I'm not talking just about the time it takes to create them, I know you're trying to say that this isn't what the community wanted, but you're both figuratively and metaphorically wrong.
It took a lot of effort to bring these here, and the community does want them. Instead of spilling negativities that are bouth aimless and unfounded, how about appreciating the fact that we got CLAN TECH, and have some fun.
This game is F2P and PGI is just 40 people.they are doing what they can, we're getting UI2.0 soon, we're eventually gonna get CW as well. You don't want to buy them, fine. Don't buy the pack, but don't complain and and try to rabble rouse over the fact that things currently stated as being in development aren't here already, especially without knowing how difficult and how long these things take.
No. We are not getting "Clans".
We are getting Clan MECHS.
Contrary to community expectations they are releasing these mechs before community warfare. I suspect these mechs will be dropping alongside IS mechs in the same boring old 12 v 12 death matches. I have read nothing about Clan players having their own queue and dropping against teams made entirely out of Inner Sphere mechs.
The community expectation as it was laid out by the devs in the roadmaps at the time of selling the founders packs was that the Clans would be introduced after about 3 months of established IS community warfare. As per lore the "Clan Invasion" was expected to be an invasion of the Inner Sphere by mechs with vastly superior tech but fewer in numbers. We expected balance to be dealt with by manipulating said numbers in a 5 v 8 or 10 v 12 format. Inner Sphere teams would have numerical superiority, and possibly (call this a romantic notion if you will) have to use a bit of guile and tactics to get the better of the Clan teams.
Now, let's have a look at what we actually have....
We are getting more mechs. Chassis which are iconic and have been eagerly anticipated by the community they may be, but they are not "Clans". We're not getting Clan Wolf, Clan Ghost Bear, Clan Jade Falcon, because we don't even have House Davion, Kurita etc yet.........
Despite PGI advertising that "the Clan Invasion is here", it is quite obviously not. Every time I log in to these forums and see that link I feel insulted. There is no invasion because there is nothing to invade. The Clans aren't invading the Inner Sphere because neither beligerent even exists in this game.
Because we don't have community warfare.
This is a cash grab. These mechs will be dropped into the same meaningless death matches which we have been continually playing since closed beta. I suspect they will even be dropping on the same teams with Inner Sphere mechs and noobs in trial mechs. They will have tech which is ever so slightly better than the IS mechs and thus, without balancing with superior numbers, we will have Pay to Win.
Come July this year, there will STILL be no Community Warfare. There will be clan mechs fighting against and alongside inferior Inner Sphere mechs. These mechs will either be nerfed to the point of equality with the IS mechs. Or they will be better and thus P2W.
This is not what I, and I suspect most of the community expected of "The Clan Invasion".
