$500 for one mech. Less they make the armor twice as effective, weapons and armor half as light, and the weapons twice as powerful then for 500 they better ship me a gold statue of the mech to my house. Make them the gold desert eagle from the bond games for MWO.

I mean, I understand the rage in that many people feel like PGI is yanking their chains and feel as if PGI is intentionally leading them on as far as UI 2.0, CW, DX11, et al is concerned. Certainly communication breakdown is largely to blame, something they have improved on lately. Certainly it may be a bit of a case of overreaching their capabilities within tight time limits. They overestimated their capabilities and the game suffers for it - now. In 6 months, we have no idea what is going to be released.

For all we or they know, PGI really IS bottlenecked by 2.0. For all we or they know, 2.0 may actually be released soon (though in a state that they themselves have already warned was going to be buggy). For all we or they know, with 2.0 out we might get a hefty hefty chunk of the substance people have wanted all at once. That be a big ol' slice of humble pie for the ragers to choke on - though they would never admit that they over reacted.

I suspect the truth is somewhere in the middle. PGI mismanaged and overreached their capabilities AND the community is itching to burn the whole damned town down at the slightest provocation.

These, however, are not issues directly with the Clan Pack. They are general frustrations the community has had with PGI for a while now. However, these frustrations are causing them to see things that simply may not be there. Inventing new reasons to imagine PGI has gone from bumbling to outright predatory to their customers. IE: inventing reasons such as the supposed "insult to the player base" to offer an expensive, totally optional but ludicrously expensive joke of an offer of $500 for a gold skinned mech. They forget it is only an insult if they persist in having a victim mentality about it. Maybe a handful of people will buy the $500 mechs, but overall the joke may be on PGI/IGP in that the vast, vast majority of people out there will put their wallets down instead of shelling out the $500.

They also sidestep the truth that the Clan pack is optional, and eventually will be CBill purchasable. Plus while it is a crapton of money, it is also a pretty incredible deal at the top end when you consider everything you get with those 24 mechs (24 mech bays, in game and in forum items, 90 days premium - all for $10/mech). We have no idea how many of those mechs will be released at Clan launch. I highly doubt only one mech for an entire faction will be available on Clan Launch Day. If they released four mechs in May, what then? Only three months post Clan launch for everyone to have T-Wolf access. Four for Warhawk. Hardly an obscene wait, all things considered.

Honestly, I lost my train of thought and it is quickly becoming a bit of a rant so I will stop myself there.

Hey, you two. Stop using logic here. This is the no logic zone. Only raging allowed here.

Logic isn't necessary when the pricing of these packages lacks logic.

Compared to the other packages previously offered, which were all fairly priced......this is absurd.

Correction: compared to the other packages, the gold mech option is absurd. Compared to Phoenix pack, you are getting twice the mechs. You expect it to be the same price? There is a logical error there. It may be a bit high, but not obscenely high. I do agree that PGI should cease this upward creep in its price plan, however. It is not a healthy move for their product.

Honestly, the pricing and bundles are fine, but the only problems I have with the package was how the mechs were arranged. I wouldn't give a care if the Mad Cat cost $180. It would have been better if the cost was based on their tons and weight class. But that was one of the things that I did not like about the pack. I do agree that gold mechs are absolutely stupid though.

The Only Person I would see buying a GOLD mech Is a PILOT that is so confident in thier ability to control the battlefield they can smoke oponents through superior tactics and skill. That is not me yet for a long time so no gold mech for me. But 23 mech for 240 bucks plus bays premium time and modules, etc I'm hooked. If you are the Number 1 bad arse and can score 1200 damage and 7 kills a match this is the mech for YOU! drive it with Pride the enemy will run from you! or die when they rage charge!!

The release mechs are going to be the first four.
Kit Fox
Nova
Summoner
Dire Wolf
The other four I can see being added monthly.
Now question is are they going to keep releasing IS mechs at the same time.

Surely they won't release any of the Clan Mechs BEFORE the June release of the Clan Collection, otherwise what would be the point?

IF I'm right about that then we appear to have 2 months unaccounted for. No Mechs for 2 months? Or surprise attack IS Mechs like the Kintaro? :excl:

Aren't we still waiting on the Flea?

Ah, right, June. My mistake. XD But, yeah. I feel like they would need to inject one of every class into the game at once. New faction and all.

Flea ... should fit into that space, but I doubt it. I feel like PGI would be too busy sorting out the fallout of the no doubt glitchy initial releases of Dx11 and UI 2.0 to have sorted out the HSR on mechs moving 230 kph. If they fixed it by then, however, I would be most pleased. Most pleased indeed, as that would mean the Firemoth cometh. XD

Still need a Hunchback Hero.

Part of the problem is that this feels like a massive cash grab. I don't have faith that MWO will be around in a couple years, or that Community Warfare is going to materialize in a quality state in the next 6 months.

If PGI charged half as much, I'd be all in - and that'd be very similar to the Phoenix pricing, but as is, PGI gets nothing. Worst case scenario, I take some of my 9,000 MC and buy some hero clan 'mech later down the line. We will probably be up to a +50% C-bill bonus by then, or some other gimmick to entice foolish buyers into buying a new premium 'mech.

Same pricing as Phoenix, though. It has twice the mechs, so twice the price! They could have, and probably should have, made a couple clan packs, however. Split the options down the middle. You want the Stormcrow but not the Direwolf? Fine, get package B. Want the Nova but not the Adder? Option A it is! Either option of four mechs being $120. Pricey, but manageable.

If PGI learns anything from this it should hopefully be that they need to give the players some more options when they release a sale of this magnitude in the future.

Wonder if there will be stretch goals like the flame pattern we got with Phoenix.

Or a Reinforcements Package like the Wolverine and Griffin, watch everyone's heads explode when they have to pay $260 for a Vulture/ Mad Dog :excl:

Have we completely ruled out the possibility that the gold mechs were a joke? They might be shocked to find that they sell some ;)

A sucker is born every day. Filthy freebirths. :excl:

Someone, and indeed several someones will buy the gold mechs. I do not know why. I do know I plan not to treat them any differently on the field.. If I have a gripe with PGI/IGP I have a gripe with PGI/IGP. Not the players who give them the money they need to keep the game running that I am playing on in any given match.

One exception, however. A gold plated Warhawk might find me trying to land a Spider or Nova on their roof. I mean... c'mon, man! It just asks for it!

While I would not put it past them to throw on a reinforcements package, like the gold mechs at this point I doubt people would be willing to shell out for those, either. Unless, perhaps, they got one of the low end clan tiers and wanted to mix it up a bit with a few additional mechs.

Why aren't there silver ($250) or bronze ($100) mechs? Silver would be so much prettier. When I get hitscan hit-detection back is when I will consider buying these. I like the art at least. The kit fox is so cute and the rest are nice. Nothing fabulous, but nice.
