I always thought that no one wanted to finance MW5..

And look at how Clan 'Mechs are in MW4: they chose the easiest route, BattleMechs instead of OmniMechs with a few omni hardpoints and totally better weapons which made outdated IS tech.

I helped finance MWO and I'm very unhappy with my investment.

I betcha if they crowd-sourced/kick-starter'd/whatever MW5, they could probably do it.

And when I say 'they' I mean somebody who doesn't have a record of failing to deliver on their promises.

I think a lot of problems is that IGP is trying to dictate to PGI how things have to be done, and since they footed the initial bill, IGP is the one that is actually running the show. Had PGI crowd sourced they probably wouldnt have to answer to the shiny suited idiots that run IGP, and could have focused on making a game that they and the fans wanted not what the publisher wanted.

No this is ridiculous, if PGI does read this, please, please, please!!! ...take back this stupid 'sale' and please DO NOT offer this until you have an actual 'game'. You know, one that has that stuff you promised ages ago...

Hell, I have only been playing regularly since the end of August and I'm already jaded after the Pheonix package and MC purchase ($200 wasted...). Also, even the most die-hard series like any of the Blizzard games never cost this much for a lousy in-game item that no one will know how it actually works out in game.

Look, I have sympathy for it being Xmas time and not wanting to get the grind back on until Jan 1st. But it was a mistake to start this sale and a bigger mistake to offer this before any of the core features are up and running. It makes me feel like my money's wasted and I'll have to wait another decade before another gaming company will pick up the torch again.

Congratulations...

Ahahahaha you're funny... complaining about being jaded after the Phoenix pack

I agree that $500 for a gold skinned mech is a bit extravagant and even I in all my insanity will not buy one, but if someone has enough money to buy one, why should it bother you? A Ferrari costs allot more than a Toyota Corolla, shouldn't you be on the Ferrari forum, complaining about that?

The flaw in your argument is that the "Ferrari's" they are trying to sell you in MWO are built on the same frame as the Corolla we've been driving into the ground for the past two years in this game.

I keep updating the client and coming back to the forums hoping to see improvement over the actions that disillusioned me before, but I keep seeing the same money grabs and empty promises again and again.

I'm not putting $250-$500 into something they are promising me I'll get in 6 months because I'm not sure it will be worth it then or if the game will even be around by then. For those who argue, but if we don't keep throwing money at them they WILL fold, I want you to know, "I'm OK with that".

I'm sick of hearing that $10 a 'Mech is a good deal.
I'm sure it is. If you want and will use all of the 'Mechs: I still haven't touched half of my Phoenix 'Mechs (likely never will, either) and that doesn't include the two/six I'm getting on Tuesday.
If you just want the Warhawk, it's $80 a 'Mech. (Actually it's $240 for one 'Mech, but who is counting?)
If I offer you 100 cars for $100,000, sure it's only $1,000 a car. But you still have to spend $100,000 and get stuck with 95+ cars that you don't have room for, don't have use for, and cannot resell (except in exchange for funny money which you can only spend at my car shop). Oh, and they are actually just 10 sets of 10 cars, each.

If you would have bothered to read the next sentence that I wrote, you would have seen that I have said the same thing.

It just that the only one I really care about is the Timber Wolf and would have been willing to pay $60 dollars to be able to pick it like they did with the founder's package back at the beginning.

Personally I do not care about the $10 per-mech deal that PGI thinks that they are offering; I just want at least 1 Timber Wolf so that when the Clan factions arrive I can join up with clan Wolf and fight in a clan mech instead of a IS one. But for me to be able to afford the Timber Wolf I either (A) have to put out $210 and get a bunch of other mech that I do like the look of but do not really care about or ( B ) have to wait until January/February 2015. Option ( B ) really sucks since I have been waiting since MWO was announced back in 2009 for the next MechWarrior/Timber Wolf.

First off, I think the Clan mechs are overpriced, but then again, Clan mechs have always been more expensive than Inner Sphere Mechs.

HOWEVER

For the amount that the Clan mechs are priced at, we should be allowed to pick and choose chassis packs. I want a Masakari but I'm not going to spend ANY money on Clan mechs until I can pay a fair price. I am not a light mech pilot so I am not going to have any use for the Pumas or the Kit Fox's.

Although I think the prices are a bit crazy (I would be happy with US$25 per chassis pack) - being forced to buy mechs for such prices is just insane. I mean, why not have a pick and choose feature but without the additional perks? I just want a Stormcrow, Timber Wolf, Masakari and Summoner - of which I would be happy paying US$100 - $120

PGI need to think about their marketing...

We don't know how much is going on in PGI right now. They kept this under raps for a long time and I bet there is a lot more hidden in there somewhere we don't know yet. The fact that they have released all of this so suddenly and without anyone knowing is going to mean there is more we don't know. for all we know they could have a lot more in this just waiting to be announced.

Consider that this package effectively delivers twice as much as the phoenix pack (way more than the founders pack) for twice the price of the founders pack. $120 makes sense in most respects. That being said, it is a tad bit steep, and they definitely put the timberwolf in the higher end on purpose. Those accursed fiends!

I went for the direwolf package. (i love the daisy, and i want my summoner above all).

As for what I think of the clan mechs themselves:

PS: dont buy the gold pack, $500 dollars is a crock of ****. The best way to let PGI know you dont like that kind of pricing is to not buy it. They see the metrics, they will know what people go for and what they wont go for, and if they dont get the sales for the upper end and for the super expensive gold pack, they wont do promotions at that price in the future.

Really? You bought the pack without knowing ANYTHING about the Clans? I'd say that is stupid but I don't want to disrespect stupid decisions. At the where least you could have waited a few months for the dust to settle.

The price scheme is the same as the phoenix package was which is completely reasonable, the only stupidly priced things are the "golden" mechs. The only reason I haven't dropped 240 on this is because I don't know how the delivery is to be done or if I won't be able to play with other because of IS/Clan teams (if that ends up being a thing)

It's really not close at all:

Phoenix Project Overlord - $80
  • 12 mechs, 4 Phoenix and 8 standard
  • 1 badge, 1 title
  • 90 days premium time
  • 4 loyalty cockpit medallions
And that's not including the "early bird special" that granted players an additional 30 days of premium time, or the sale unlocks (which could happen here too). By comparison the closest "Clan" package is the "Daishi Collection" at $120:

Daishi Collection - $120
  • 12 mechs, 4 prime and 8 standard
  • 1 badge, 1 title
  • 60 days premium time
  • 1 signed digital concept art
For an extra $40 you're getting less than you did with the $80 Phoenix Project Overlord tier. If you want to get more absurd about pricing here, for an extra $30 you could add the "Sabre Reinforcement" package and up the number mechs by 6, for a total of 18. Or in other words, Overlord and Sabre combined at $110 is more equal to the value acquired by the "Ryoken Collection" at $180.

So no, in no way is the pricing similar. All that happened here is PGI jacked the cost for the same amount of content.

Not worth my money, haven't played the game in 6 months, and i don't plan to start until they (actually) leave beta, this game still isnt finished, and at the rate they're going, its never going to be. Unfortunate

WHOA! This just insane, and some how I love it!

I think they were working on these while they made the Sabre stuff.. So hopefully they have a lot of people working on actual content now, come on we want some contet already.. Come on!!!

I think I would purchase this, but I have absolutely no intrest in playing clans, so I'll just pass.. Even though i would definetly buy a golden khan if I had the dough, but LOL not even close... But it would just be great trolling away in my golden mech :(
But I'm way too poor for that, sadly..

But PGI where the hell is communication.. Are supposed to listen to NGNG because i surely ain't following that... Then just put in the middle of the page... Look at what Star Citizen is doing... Do the same.. If tou don't know how.. Hire someone who does.

This should be exciting and interesting, but just comes across and desperate and profiteering.

Now I'm very happy to have been given a refund for the top level Phoenix packages (following some truly appalling customer service). For me my involvement in MWO may be token occasional amounts, and with hindsight I'm sad to see my founders money seems to have gone nowhere good. It honestly feels to me that MWO is on life support - throw in a few popular 'mechs and try and milk the most cash from them possible without actually improving the game notably.

I can't get behind this and I'd go so far as saying that without something like CW coming soon, I'd be surprised to see MWO existing generally in 18 months if people see past the lure of the Timber Wolf.

When MWO is compared with recent launches like the incredible Elite: Dangerous (ED) alpha, it's embarrassing to see the differences in quality and development capability. ED looks better in its alpha stage than MWO looks today.

overlord pack for 12 mechs 80$
daishi pack for 12 mechs 120$

Y U NO MATHS PGI????

the entire pack should be 160 dollars not 240!

they really need to keep their prices consistant. yeah sure they may be clan mechs but that does not justify 10 more dollars per chassis type for the same ammount of effort it takes to make a regular mech. maybe 10 more dollars would fit if we got 5 variants with each chassis instead of 3 variants but for right now pgi is going on my no-buy list until they deliver the features they promised we would have years ago.

Did the marketing department forget the meaning of the "micro" part of microtransaction? $30, the cheapest package (which gives you one mech, and you don't get to choose which one) is enough to buy a AAA game new on Steam, not even during a sale. $240 is more than most people I know spend on games in a year.

Let's see UI 2.0 and faction warfare, then we talk about dropping mo' money for some mechs. Not before. I spent 800$ on SC and consider it money well spent, but I'll be damned if I buy another MWO package before I see this game actually picking up the slack and offer more than just deathmatches and drill conquest.
