... the home screen doesnt show CBill or GXP totals, and you have to go into Skills to see GXP amounts???? Clicking the Stats button honest to go just opens a web browser to the existing stats page??? Really??? That's a five minute of work hackjob.

There is NO way this is a years work... even accounting for backend changes. I am really buying into the tinfoil hat crowd that development was basically on hold for months before the license was extended.

I am trying not to be all negative here, but some of these oversights are just... mindblowing.

I like the look of UI2.0. Very nice to have it full screen. Mech selection is very nice indeed. Also the social window seems good. Only thing I hate about it is the Mechlab. It is absolutely horrible to use. I hope you guys finish the work with new Mechlab asap. I am still forced to use external mechlabs, like Smurfy's or Li Song Mechlab, because this does not give me the overview I need to build efficient builds with minimum time.

Couple of things that pop to my mind.
1) I don't want to see the trial mechs. Please give me option to hide them completely. I am traumatized by the trial mech inferno in Closed Beta and start of Open Beta so pretty please, I don't want to see trial mechs in my mechbay :P

2) At first hand it seems to be faster than UI1.5, so kudos for that. Loading time on the old UI were horrible.

3) I have lots of people on my friends list. I would like to see some organizing options at some point.

I hope that you keep improving the UI!

-Icons now are too big
-Descriptions are above and under the icons (weapons example)or other stuff ---->>> on side of icon will be better or only under
-No visible engine size mounted in mech
-Armour setup troubled and slower
-Graphs of Heat MNG,Fire Power,Speed Etc.- need to improve
-All this weapons systems or modules shuld work like seperate window u can moove around like is WINDOWS OS and u can configure your self.

AND much more to improve other people did write some other stuff.. a lot ...

Worst release ever. Writing up something shortly with feedback: positive and negative. Until then, this is my vote.

OMG!!! So terribly awful!!! It used to be easy and now its like I have to be an engineer to configure a mech; sure that's the theme but make it easy to figure out for someone who doesn't know how to read electrical blueprints. How the **** do I save mech configuration now?

Window mode was fine when not in a match then changing to full screen was perfect!!

Social interaction may as well not exist with what you have available, or should I say not available.
That function is also incredibly awkward. Are we even supposed to communicate with each other if not using C3 or Skype? Oh yeah, maybe you could make the social button even smaller... derp.

Only things nice so far is being able to configure weapons in the lab and the ability to rename a mech.

Sack the UI designers and sack those who approved it. Maybe get some people who don't email it in overnight.

EDIT : WHAT THE HELL FORUM? I'M NOT FIXING THAT

Key information is now tiny, shunted off to the side or missing entirely (ie. While purchasing new Mechs). WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS?

The Mech list is a soup of my owned chassis', even using the filters. Let me arrange them myself, drag and drop. Not Hard.

BUY. BUY. BUY buttons everywhere. 'Unequip' and 'Buy' share the exact same colour and position in 'Cockpit' customization. Just show me the things I own and stop cluttering up my screen with a multitude of stuff I don't care about. IF I WANT TO BUY STUFF I'LL LOOK AT THE STORE.

I can't let that last point go. Stop pushing MC purchases on us. If we want to buy something, we'll buy it (on purpose) when we're good and ready to. Now that all - ALL - of the C-Bill and MC costs are so tiny and indistinct, the possibility of 'fat finger' purchases are much higher.

As players, we know that it's entirely our responsibility to not make such mistakes - but the number of ways to easily screw up goes into new territory with UI 2.0. I'm sorry to be rude, but it looks pathetic and desperate from where I sit.

Solutions?

All MC items should be under a separate filter or tab, in the Store only and not mixed into the default filter.

Increase the distinction between MC and C-Bill items - give the MC items a glow, change the colours, make the costs larger and more obvious.

Confirmation box after clicking Check Out - You are about to spend 'X' MC. Yes/No.

How to sell Items ? How to save a Loadout without the Need to go for Weapon Grouping ?

Important Buttons are missing completely.

I like the feel of it. Many things are great. Worst part is outfitting your mech. Too much space viewing the hardware. Could be a smaller list then click to view the item and description. Also we need to see the completed build all at once before a save. After would be nice too. Also I don't know if I missed this but it doesn't seem like you can view hardpoint locations when buying a new mech.

Here's the simplest I can put this:

There is absolutely no reason whatsoever after a year of delays that this release should resemble what we've been given. The condition the UI is in is absolutely terrible. It's completely terrible for new players as well as more experienced players. I can honestly say I won't be bothering to adjust or mess with my mech builds until such time as a smurfys style/old UI mech lab is introduced again.

So here's how you fix it

1). Social tab should not bring up an overlay removing you from the main screen. It should open sub windows you can move around. There are also far too many windows and pop up menus off of other menus. Simplify this and make groups easier to form and launch.

2). We should be able to search between any and a set. Don't want conquest? Search just for assault/skirmish. You shouldn't be forced into a one or all. Not when it appears by the UI we can choose.

3). You absolutely need a smurfys style overview of the entire mech. Where you have that giant window that shows every piece of hardware should be the overlay with your mech on the side where you can see the changes. This is something that was complained about via the various public tests. The fact that something so simple didn't make it in is inexcusable.

4). The fact that a much touted feature and sorely anticipated feature as organizing your mech bays is not in at the release of the new UI is simply terrible. While you've generally got some sort of sorting going it's incomplete. It should always go lightest to heaviest. You should never put the champions/founders/phoenix/heroes mechs ahead of the others if it messes with organization. You need to implement custom filters and quickly.

5). Since I know all my feedback isn't negative here's some positive. You can finally rename your mechs. Thank you, I literally spent 10-15 minutes going through my various mechs and renaming them. However as with everything else it's buried behind multiple layers of a drop down menu.

6). Why on earth did you get rid of the 4 ready quick switch mech bays. That's an immensely useful feature you've gotten rid of.

I could keep going but it's just more and more negative. Fix it PGI, There is no reason it should be this bad.

Edit:

Also the entire tab lists people as online but I cannot communicate with them or invite them. When I hadn't joined into game yet friends attempted to invite me. You've tied the website status into game status. But you just list them online instead of "website" like you list "mechlab" which is a mistake that needs to be addressed.

Ok,what to say about?

Nice things are:

- UI 2.0 finaly is out and its full screen
- the weapon group configurator in the mechlab
- the option to rename your mec
- good skilltree overview

Lets come to the bad things:

- no overview in the store of a mechs loadout,if you dont have the money to buy it
- a lack of important information and overview in the mechlab in general
- you cant see how many slots are free
- the only way to install a item now is the drag&drop-game(doubleclick doesn´t work anymore)
- less intuitive than its predecessor
- every time you want to play, you have to choose the gamemode now
- click sounds in menu cant be deactivated(it bothers me after a time)
- propably a lot of things i didn´t listed here(sry its late here)...

conclusion so far:

- UI 2.0 is a nice looking backstep in functionality and operability, waiting for 2.1 now :P

In UI 2.0, I can no longer see the skill trees for mechs that I don't own. This is important b/c I have some mechs that I have partially skilled up and then sold the chassis to make room for something else, and I'd like to be able to see the progress that I've made on those mechs so I am sure what to buy when I want to come back to them.

The friends list needs some work. It is a total pain to try and invite people to groups since the friends list is constantly scrolling.

The old mechlab UI was very clunky. We were just used to it.

Honestly, the new one has some issues, most notably the lack of an overview. But it's not really worse. It's also MASSIVELY faster. I'm very glad it doesn't take five seconds to slot in a new component anymore.

new mech lab needs to be contained to center screen on 3 monitor display 5760x1080 put the side pins to the center 1920x1080. better yet allow it to be in a smaller resolution window. this is serious problem for 3 display system. left and right corner 65" apart

Wow ... ok all of us that have been playing for months and months etc.. are all but lost in this new user interface .... Can you imagine what the noobs are going through ... sure we'll muddle through it because we have the basics in our heads and the numbers for the most part, but the poor Noobs .... they will download it ... get in this UI .... Look for a Help button, see non ...spend another 4-6 minutes playing around in it ... Then uninstall and go Back to something mindless. Hmmm Well that could be good for keeping trolls out, will need to have at last an AS degree in computer science to configure your mech.

Since I cannot invite anyone for some reason, or actually verify they are really signed in the game. I am going to go play MechWarrior 4 Mercs. I found my old disks that run perfect in win7 64.

I know someone spent a lot of time on this. Just not someone good at designing user interfaces. I appreciate all the hard work that was put into this, just feel much of it was wasted. Now we all better realize that because of that last statement, we really are stuck with this.

FREE to PLAY

You get what you pay for. So don't complain. Deal with it or uninstall, and just be thankful for the few months this game as actually fun to play and we got to enjoy it.

It takes an age for any player with many mechs (30+) to find their modules a general "strip all modules" button in the mechlab might be nice.

What they need to do is allow you to equip it to however many mechs you want once you purchase it. The same can be said about the cockpit items. It's stupid that you have to constantly go through each mech and unequip things.

Think of it this way. The new UI at least looks good. The old one both looked bad and was clunky and unintuitive. One out of two isn't bad.

At least in theory this one was built to be modifiable, rather than the old UI which was basically thrown together to get something working (it was the same since the start of closed beta, if you aren't aware).

(Of course, I do actually have a degree in CS so maybe you wouldn't consider me a good judge...)

While that's great for someone who already has all the equipment and knows what everything does, it doesn't really leave any room for equipment selection to have a description or stats, which is kind of important.

Not that I wouldn't like to have that, just saying that nothing is perfect, you're always either cutting down ease of use or cutting down details.
